  • Patent number: 6769183
Abstract: A cable cutting tool includes a first arm having a first jaw member connected to a first handle member and a second arm having a second jaw member pivotally connected to a second handle member. The first and second arms are connected by a fastener and are pivotal with respect to one another about a longitudinal axis of the fastener. A tension element is mounted on the second jaw member and is positioned wholly outside of and out of contact with the second handle member. A take-up element is mounted for rotation on the second jaw member. A latching mechanism is mounted on the second jaw member and is configured to inhibit rotation of the take-up element in a first direction. The take-up element is uninhibited by the latching mechanism when rotating in a second direction. A chain extends over the take-up element and has a first end attached to the first arm and a second end attached to the tension element. The chain is positioned wholly outside of and out of contact with the second handle member.

  • Patent number: 6754966
Abstract: Disclosed is a wienie roaster with prongs that may be folded back. The prongs are pivotly received by a head, and the head is attached at the end of a roaster stalk. The prong has a continuous curve as it enters the head which produces friction to hold the prongs at an adjustable angle away from or towards the roaster stalk. The bore in the head may have beveled, oval-shaped openings, so that the curved base of the prong notches into place in extended and folded back positions. The roaster may also have a tension shoe for applying and distributing pressure on the prongs and a notch in the prongs for receiving the tension shoe. A hole in the top of the head allows lubricant, such as oil or fat from cooking food, to enter the head and lubricate the base of the prong and the tension shoe. The lubrication hole may also be threaded to receive a set screw, which can provide additional pressure to hold the prong in place.

  • Patent number: 6751870
Abstract: An instrument for cutting hair comprises first and second members extending longitudinally in a direction generally parallel to a hinge axis 19 of a hinge that connects the two members. Each member has an arm and a leg. The legs have sockets in which tools are received. The arms comprise grip portions for grasping and actuating by a user's hand. During use, the actuation of the arms moves the legs in an arcuate path of a common circle about the hinge axis 19. The legs and the tools disposed in the sockets of the legs have straight features that remain parallel to each other and to the axis 19 of the hinge during movement along the arcuate path. The instrument has a closed pinching or clamping position in which the tools meet each other in abutting relation.

  • Patent number: 6748661
Abstract: A shock absorbing blade stop for a folding knife comprising; an elongated, cylinder shaped body, with o-ring grooves provided near its opposite ends. O-rings of a resilient material affixed to the o-ring grooves and the completed assembly located within the handle frames of a folding knife by means of location holes provided in the handle frames for that purpose. Location holes are of an inside diameter closely corresponding to the outside diameter of the mounted o-rings thereby producing a shock absorbing effect in response to the impact of a fast opening blade colliding against the blade stop. An enlarged center section of the blade stop is provided with an increased diameter slightly larger than the locating holes of the handle frames so as to capture the blade stop within the space between handle frames.
