  • Patent number: 4590833
Abstract: A slicing machine has a table defining a horizontal and flat support surface having an outer edge and a blade displaceable transversely along the edge. Thus when the blade moves along the edge a slice is cut from an elongated foodstuff projecting longitudinally over the edge. An automatic feed for the slicing machine includes a pair of feed elements centered on and rotatable about respective parallel longitudinal axes spaced apart transversely above the surface to either side of the foodstuff and each formed with a flat outer end immediately juxtaposed with the edge, and a helicoidal formation at least generally centered on the axis, engageable with the elongated foodstuff between the elements, and extending to the respective outer end. A drive rotates the elements about the respective axes for advancing the foodstuff gripped between the elements in a longitudinal transport direction along the surface toward the edge.

  • Patent number: 4590830
Abstract: In a casing machine, a length adjustable tubular member for adjusting casing holdback force contacts about the outer surface of the casing. The length of the tubular member is adjustable to position a pressure ring on one end of the tubular member closer to or farther from a sizing member which contacts the inner surface of the casing whereby the distance between the pressure ring and sizing member establishes the magnitude of the casing holdback force.

  • Patent number: 4589318
Abstract: A meat cutting device for cutting long rolls of meat into shorter chunks includes means for conveying long rolls one after another against a plurality of blades, each having converging sharpened edges forming a sharp point. The blades are positioned parallel to one another across and above the path of travel of the rolls and are located so that as a roll is conveyed into the blades, the blade points will pierce through the skin of the roll before the sharpened edges begin to slice through the roll. Preferably the conveyor means includes a table on which support cradles are moved and the blades are positioned above the table with the blade points located above the table so that central axis of the roll is located under the points as the roll is moved through the blades.

  • Patent number: 4589315
Abstract: A wire rope salvaging apparatus provides a frame which supports an intermittent feed mechanism which moves wire rope to be cut a small length at a time as defined by the stroke of the feed mechanism. A blade also mounted on the frame cuts the wire rope at preselected interval lengths, the blade being movable between cutting and feeding positions. A timing mechanism coordinates movement of the feed and blade mechanism so that the blade first assumes a non-cutting position during the feeding when the wire is moving and then cuts the rope when the feed has stopped and the wire rope is at a still position.

  • Patent number: 4584920
Abstract: A circular saw blade is subdivided into two sectors by a serpentine-shaped interruption cut so that at least one noise-damping slot is formed between the two sectors. The serpentine cut forms in the two sectors projections alternating with recesses. The projections of one sector are received in the recesses of the opposite sector. The adjacent projections of the opposite sectors are spaced from each other in the regions of their backsides. The spacing between the backsides of the opposite projections increases towards a central bore of the saw blade.

  • Patent number: 4585079
Abstract: A machine applies screwing and unscrewing torque between successive drill pipes with an essentially vertical axis extending through a tapered opening in a turntable for a well bore. The machine includes a mechanism for applying a high initial unthreading torque and a high final threading torque between successive drill pipes and a mechanism for rapid screwing and unscrewing of successive drill pipes. The machine also includes a clamping mechanism having a bolster and a plurality of shims. The shims have outer portions tapered to fit into the opening of the turntable and have inner portions with a shape corresponding to the shape of the drill pipes. Each shim is supported individually on the bolster by a device that moves the shim into engagement with a drill pipe to grip the same and with sufficient freedom to permit the shims to center the pipe between them automatically. The bolster is lowered to cause the shims to enter the opening in the turntable.

  • Patent number: 4581966
Abstract: A chop saw pivotably mounted for movement between a raised rest position and a lowered operational position, having a motor driven saw-blade rotatably supported about a shaft, with a saw housing partially encasing the saw-blade and a swinging blade guard which covers the exposed segment of the saw-blade when the saw is in the rest position. When the saw is lowered to its operational position, a linkage system comprising four effective levers and four hinges clears the blade guard, thereby exposing the saw blade to the work piece. To accommodate changing the saw blade while the saw-unit is in its rest position, the effective length of one of the levers can be temporarily reduced, thereby clearing the blade guard from the exposed section of the saw blade. This provides easy access to the saw-blade to be changed.
