  • Patent number: 4620467
Abstract: An improved film cutter for severing sheets of soft stretch film which is drawn in a plane into a wrapping machine from a continuous source of such film comprises a first elongated knife blade extending laterally across the plane defined by the film and having a serrated cutting edge facing the film. A knife bracket extends laterally across the opposite side of the film plane and forms a channel such that the first knife blade may be moved or inserted into the channel to sever the film. The knife bracket comprises an elongated first member, with a knife mounting bar secured thereto and spaced therefrom to define the channel. The knife mounting bar includes a flange extending away from the channel and toward the film oriented at an acute angle to the knife mounting bar such that the extended edge of the flange forms a thin film contacting edge of the channel.

  • Patent number: 4620468
Abstract: In order to drive a punching machine electrically, with the aid of a double-armed rocker (70) a translational motion for the compression beam (10) is generated on the one hand, and a rotary motion for an opposing drive on the other hand. On the one side, the double-armed rocker (70) is driven by a rotating clutch shaft (50) by way of a crank gear (60-66) and, on the other side, a chain link (73) serves to control the compression beam. The opposing drive is operated by means of a one-arm rocker (75) and, also, by means of a chain link (76). To ensure the execution of an exact cycle, an engaging and disengaging claw clutch (31, 36) is present. The cycle is maintained by a cam disk arrangement (51) on the one hand, and a coupling groove (37) on a coupling box (32) with a coupling bolt (38), on the other hand. The above provides the electric drive for a rectilinear punching machine for punching sheets of paper for mechanical binding systems.

  • Patent number: 4619169
Abstract: The cutter mechanism for slitting laminate material interconnecting overlapping borders of adjacent articles includes an elongated body that has a pair of upwardly-extending guide feet on opposite ends along one edge of the body and downwardly-extending guide feet on opposite ends adjacent the other edge with a generally rectangular slot between the respective feet and extending from opposite ends. The slots have bases which extend perpendicular to the opposite edges and thus perpendicular to the path of movement of the cutter means to provide sharp cutting edges between the respective feet.

  • Patent number: 4619165
Abstract: An apparatus with a cutting device for cutting-off pieces of a wire comb binding material for binding packs of sheets with marginal perforation. The pieces to be cut-off from the material shall have an entire number of teeth. The apparatus has a guide and a conveying wheel for the material. A brake or a catch provides for the pitch-correct cutting of the material. An adjusting device for adjusting the conveying length is provided in the drive connection to the conveying wheel. For this purpose a sector gear wheel comprises partial sector gear wheels. These are rotatable and capable of being fixed with respect to one another. Alternatively, an eccent arrangement may be used for adjusting the conveying length. The radial eccenter distance of the arrangement is adjustable. A chain driven thereby is itself driving a chain wheel, which on its turn drives a catch wheel for driving the conveying wheel.

  • Patent number: 4617697
Abstract: A handle adapter for hand molding around an existing handle and constructed in a manner enabling the user to shape the external surface of the adapter to conform to the grip of the user's hand. The material to be molded is contained in a pouch having flexible walls and end closures. The size of the pouch is such that the total volume which it could contain is much larger than the volume of the moldable material therein. One half of the pouch has a cross-sectional area smaller than the cross-sectional area of the other half, whereby the smaller cross-section half of the pouch can be pushed inside the larger cross-section half of the pouch and the material therebetween becomes trapped between two concentrically positioned flexible walls. When the walls of the smaller half pouch are supported by a solid structure, the moldable material then envelops such structure.

  • Patent number: 4616541
Abstract: A scroll or jigsaw of the walking beam type is disclosed in which the upper and lower beams or arms are of hollow, tubular construction so as to have sufficient rigidity to resist up and down vibrational movement, and so as to permit lateral cutting. The beams are mounted in a pair of identical die cast frame members, and the drive motor is mounted directly to the rear of the frame members. The motor is connected to the rear ends of the beams for reciprocably driving them. The frame members, together with the motor, are pivotally mounted relative to a base or table frame thereby to permit angling of the saw blade (as opposed to tilting the table) for bevel cuts.

  • Patent number: 4616543
Abstract: Programmable apparatus for cutting woven fabric wound on a supply roll includes a fabric spreader which pays-off fabric from the supply roll and onto a cutting table as the spreader moves relative to the table. A vibrating member carried by the fabric spreader and over which the payed-off fabric is constrained to pass imparts vibration to a portion of the fabric which extends across the entire width of the fabric to relieve residual stresses within the fabric as it is spread onto the table surface. The spread fabric is immediately cut by a rotary cutting wheel which moves in cutting engagement with the fabric in response to command signals received from a programmable controller.

  • Patent number: 4615117
Abstract: An attachment for greatly increasing the versatility of a conventional chain saw is capable of being mounted to a wide variety of chain saw models. The attachment is mounted to the chain saw in place of the usual chain bar. The attachment includes a rotatable spindle which may be driven through a roller chain or a V-belt drive. The spindle is adapted to drive tools such as abrasive wheels and drills. The attachment includes a housing which pilots and holds such equipment as water pumps, the impellers of which are rotated by the attachment spindle. The invention includes a sliding guard to which is mounted a chain tightening device. The guard is secured at a location which depends on the chain saw housing size so as to permit the adjustment device to bear against the chain saw housing, thereby imparting controlled tension to the driving chain or belt.

  • Patent number: 4615250
Abstract: A household slicing machine wherein a disc shaped rotary knife is mounted in a vertical plane and a guard, which is separable from the housing of the machine, is movable in a second plane that is parallel to the vertical plane of the knife between a first position in which the guard cooperates with an adjustable abutment to conceal the knife, a second position in which the knife is exposed and the machine is ready for use, and a third position in which the guard can be detached from the housing. A spring-biased locking element is reciprocably mounted in the front wall of the housing to extend into an opening of the guard when the latter assumes its second position and to extend in front of an end face of the guard when the latter assumes its first position. This prevents accidental shifting of the guard from the selected position because each such shifting must be preceded by manual depression of the locking element.

  • Patent number: 4611517
Abstract: A process for continuous cutting of a pile fabric web, having at least one comparatively narrow loopless or napless zone running lengthwise thereon between napped or looped surfaces, lengthwise in the exact center of one of the loopless or napless zones. The fabric web is fed lengthwise along a transport path to the motorized cutting device. The position of the cutting device transverse to the feed direction of the fabric is adjusted automatically so that the loopless and napless zone is cut lengthwise along its exact center by coupling the device with a sensor shoe or slider which senses, e.g. by direct contact, the edges of the pile adjoining this zone.
