  • Patent number: 9706225
Abstract: The embodiments reduce output delay for pictures by determining after a current picture has been decoded and stored in a decoded picture buffer, DPB, a number of pictures in the DPB that are marked as needed for output. This number is compared, after a current picture has been decoded and stored in the DPB, against a value derived form at least one syntax element present or to be present in a bitstream representing pictures of a video sequence. If this number is greater than the value a picture, which is the first picture in output order, of the pictures in the DPB that are marked as needed for output is preferably output and marked as not needed for output.

  • Patent number: 9699467
Abstract: A higher coding efficiency for coding a significance map indicating positions of significant transform coefficients within a transform coefficient block is achieved by the scan order by which the sequentially extracted syntax elements indicating, for associated positions within the transform coefficient block, as to whether at the respective position a significant or insignificant transform coefficient is situated, are sequentially associated to the positions of the transform coefficient block, among the positions of the transform coefficient block depends on the positions of the significant transform coefficients indicated by previously associated syntax elements. Alternatively, the first-type elements may be context-adaptively entropy decoded using contexts which are individually selected for each of the syntax elements dependent on a number of significant transform coefficients in a neighborhood of the respective syntax element, indicated as being significant by any of the preceding syntax elements.

  • Patent number: 9684435
Abstract: To generate a media presentation of a live event, a user interface is coupled to at least three cameras that share substantially the same vantage point. One of the cameras (e.g., a context camera) provides a context view of the event that is displayed on a screen of the user interface. The views of the other two cameras are superimposed onto the context view to define sub-portions that are visually demarcated within the context view. Based on user interaction, the user interface can switch between the cameras views and control the cameras to capture different portions of the context view. Based the image data captured by the views of the cameras within the context view, the user interface generates a media presentation that may be broadcast to multiple viewers.

  • Patent number: 9661307
Abstract: An image converter identifies a subset of frames in a two-dimensional video and determines a global camera motion value for the subset of frames. The image converter also determines a dense motion value for a plurality of pixels in the subset of frames and compares the global camera motion value and the dense motion value to calculate a rough depth map for the subset of frames. The image converter further interpolates, based on the rough depth map, a depth value for each of the plurality of pixels in the subset of frames and renders a three-dimensional video from the subset of frames using the depth value for each of the plurality of pixels.
