  • Patent number: 9661340
Abstract: When packing a video frame of a higher-resolution chroma sampling format such as YUV 4:4:4 into frames of a lower-resolution chroma sampling format such as YUV 4:2:0, a computing device performs wavelet decomposition (or other band separation filtering) on sample values of chroma components of the higher-resolution frame, producing sample values of multiple bands. The device assigns the sample values of the bands to parts of the lower-resolution frames. During corresponding unpacking operations, a computing device assigns parts of the frames of the lower-resolution chroma sampling format to sample values of multiple bands. The device performs wavelet reconstruction (or other inverse band separation filtering) on the sample values of the bands, producing sample values of chroma components of the frame of the higher-resolution chroma sampling format.

  • Patent number: 9648233
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system, a device, and vehicle for recording panoramic images. According to the present invention, panoramic images can be obtained using a plurality of optical cameras and light directing elements which are arranged based on a parabola. This allows a compact device to be obtained while ensuring that each camera records a partial image as if it were at substantially the same focus point as the other cameras. By arranging the plurality of cameras and light directing elements such that the respective focus points are slightly offset relative to each other, a slight overlap between adjacent field of views can be obtained to improve stitching of the partial images to from the panoramic image.

  • Patent number: 9635382
Abstract: A prediction unit is identified within a picture of a video sequence. The prediction unit is bordered by neighboring prediction units within the picture. The neighboring prediction units include first and second neighboring prediction units that are separated from one another by at least a third neighboring prediction unit. A subset of the neighboring prediction units is scanned to identify an MVP candidate. The subset includes at least the first and second neighboring prediction units and excludes at least the third neighboring prediction unit. An encoder calculates a difference between a motion vector of the MVP candidate and a motion vector of the prediction unit, and encodes the difference and an index to identify the MVP candidate. A decoder decodes the difference, and calculates the motion vector of the prediction unit by adding the difference to the motion vector of the MVP candidate.

  • Patent number: 9635383
Abstract: A prediction unit is identified within a picture of a video sequence. The prediction unit is bordered by neighboring prediction units within the picture. A match for the prediction unit is located within a first reference picture. At least a subset of the neighboring prediction units is scanned to identify a motion vector predictor (“MVP”) candidate. • Patent number: 9633819
Abstract: Generally, the present disclosure provides a method and system for improving imaging efficiency for CPB systems while maintaining or improving imaging accuracy over prior CPB systems. A large field of view image of a sample is acquired at a low resolution and thus, at high speed. The low resolution level is selected to be sufficient for an operator to visually identify structures or areas of interest on the low resolution image. The operator can select one or more small areas of arbitrary shape and size on the low resolution image, referred to as an exact region of interest (XROI). The outline of the XROI is mapped to an x-y coordinate system of the image, and the CPB system is then controlled to acquire a high resolution image of only the XROI identified on the low resolution image. For 3D imaging, once the XROI is identified, each section of the sample can be iteratively imaged in the previously described manner, with the operator having the option to redefine the XROI later.
