  • Patent number: 5704474
Abstract: While the most popular currently available compact disc carriers are structurally simple, they are lacking in several areas. Such carriers are often difficult to open, they are fragile and thus easily broken, and they are usually stored vertically on edge so that the labels on the spines are difficult to read, and provide no indication of whether a disc is present in the carrier. A compact disc carrier, which deals with these shortcomings, includes a sleeve-like container defined by a top wall, side walls and tracks at the bottom ends of the side walls; and a tray defined by a bottom wall slidable in the tracks, a first pair of ledges on posts at the rear of the tray for supporting the rear edge of a disc, and a second pair of ledges on spring arms near the front of the tray for supporting the front edge of the disc.

  • Patent number: 5704484
Abstract: A protective bottle jacket for transporting a container, bottle or the like is provided. The protective jacket has a bottom portion having a base and walls projecting upwardly from the base for receiving and protecting the bottom portion of the container and a top portion having walls for covering the top portion of the container. The protective jacket has means for selectively and releasably interlocking the bottom and top portions together. The interlocking means comprises a male member disposed on one of the bottom and top portions and a passage disposed on the other of the bottom and top portions for slidably receiving the male member between an unlocked and locked position in response to rotation of the top and bottom jacket portions, wherein the passage lockably receives the male member and attaches the top and bottom portions together in the locked position and wherein the male member does not lockably engage the passage in the unlocked position.

  • Patent number: 5701998
Abstract: A bat handle cover for encasing the grip area of a bat handle and for suspending the bat by a chain and clasp from a suspending structure. The cover may be made of stiff material, and include either a number of locking balls, a ring or a pair of U-shaped latches near the inside top of the cover, which grasp the bat handle just below the enlarged butt end or head of a conventional baseball bat. The cover may be made of flexible material, and include a necked-in portion which engages the bat. The flexible cover may have a full length slit closed by hook and loop fasteners about the bat handle, or a zipper closure running most of the length of the cover. A lower, open end of the cover may include a seal, to prevent water, moisture and/or debris from entering the interior of the cover.

  • Patent number: 5702001
Abstract: A container having panels that contain a bag of strip material. The container is movable between a confining position enclosing the bag of strip material and a position in which the bag is relaxed so as to relax snags of looped elastic material that may have arisen during transit. During transit, the strip material has a tendency to flow from the top and over the edges of the bulk to work its way along the sides, potentially snagging with adjacent loop material. During dispensement of the strip material, these snags may give rise to tension spikes. By displacing the panels of the container out of the confining position and into a relaxed position, the confining forces become relieved and thereby the snags relax. The tension spikes otherwise arising during dispensement are thereby eliminated.

  • Patent number: 5699905
Abstract: This invention provides a sheet made of a synthetic resin for holding information recording carriers in the form of small thin plates such as floppy disks. Index strips are removably formed in the holding sheet, and an insertion groove for mounting the removed index strips is formed on one side edge of the holding sheet, whereby an information recording carrier held in the sheet can easily be found. The elements constituting the holding sheet do not overlap when viewed from the front side and back side of the holding sheet, so that the holding sheet can be produced by injection molding wherein the mold is moved in only one direction perpendicular to the plane of the holding sheet. Thus, the holding sheet is suited for large scale production and its production cost is low.

  • Patent number: 5697496
Abstract: A compact disk package made from a corrugated board insert attached to a panel of a foldable die-cut sleeve. The corrugated insert defines a CD-enclosing recess for accommodating a CD and a resilient hub joined to the CD in a resiliently disengageable manner. The package may be folded and sealed to closure to provide a lightweight, secure and environmentally agreeable package. The package allows for a variety of printable surfaces, pockets for the insertion of printed media, the packaging of a plurality of CD's , and forming tear-off panels for use as reply cards. The corrugated insert may be separately manufactured and provided with printable surfaces for later attachment to the die-cut sleeve. The invention includes the method of packaging compact disks, computer diskettes, and like flat articles, and the method of making the package therefor.

  • Patent number: 5695049
Abstract: A contact lens container comprising an integrally molded one-piece synthetic resin receptacle providing a well having a peripheral wall with a bottom portion, and a flange extending about the periphery of the upper end of well. The bottom portion has a generally concave inner surface for seating a contact lens thereon and is being relatively rigid. The peripheral wall of the well has an annular, resiliently deflectable inversion portion above the bottom portion, and it is invertible to position the bottom portion of the well above the plane of the flange. Pressing upwardly against the bottom portion of the well inverts the inversion portion of the well and dispose the bottom portion with the lens thereon above the plane of the flange. The receptacle is moved against the eye of the user to place the lens against the cornea and thereby cause the lens to seat thereon.

  • Patent number: 5695067
Abstract: A storage and tote bag for baseball and softball bats and balls. The device is a soft, zippered bag which stores bats by allowing them to lay flat along the bag's length and stores balls in the bottom of the bag. Once filled with bats and balls, the bag can be closed for storage and transportation. The device is composed of a fabric casing, lined with padding, which is folded along the width and secured with a zipper so that a closed container is formed. This closed container, or bag, can hold a plurality of bats, when they are laid along the bag's length, and a plurality of balls, when placed in a stiffener in the region of the bag's fold. The padding has straps and pockets for securing the bats. The stiffener has indentations to secure the balls. When empty, the bag can easily be folded into a smaller size for easy storage of the device itself. The bag also has a handle and strap on the outside so that it can be carried easily when closed and filled.
