  • Patent number: 7395182
Abstract: A system for performing dimension checkings of mechanical pieces is provided including a contact detecting probe with wireless transmission, for example through a single radiofrequency two-way communication link, to and from a base station connected to an interface unit. The probe includes a logic unit and a memory unit in which reside the values of some operation parameters, for example the transmission frequency and/or the activation mode of the probe. The values of the operation parameters can be modified in a programming phase, according to a method that foresees the wireless transmission of control signals from a manually operated control device—to the probe, for updating of the values among the selectable values of a sequence residing in the probe, and the acquisition of the current value.

  • Patent number: 7395166
Abstract: A connector including an integrated circuit, for connecting two conductors directly or indirectly. The integrated circuit derives power either from one of the connectors being connected by the connector or from one or more other conductors terminating in the connector, and not from a battery or photovoltaic cell or other such voltage source. A coupler connected to the integrated circuit is used in case of an indirect connection of the two conductors and/or of the one or both of the conductors to the integrated circuit, to avoid having to make a physical attachment.

  • Patent number: 7395169
Abstract: A memory test engine performs memory tests on an embedded memory located in a device under test (DUT) simultaneous to analog tests performed by an automatic tester. The automatic tester provides coded information to the memory test engine, which includes a description of the embedded memory within the DUT. The memory test engine operates autonomous to the automatic tester; apply addresses, data and control and comparing results of the memory test to expected values. The automatic tester and the memory test engine use the same DUT data bus; and therefore, arbitrate the use of the bus of the DUT.

  • Patent number: 7395180
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for drawing a wedge from an array of data. An angular reference table contains a plurality of angle values. An angle sampler samples a subset of angle values for a given arc of a plurality of arcs that will constitute the wedge from the angular reference table to provide an even sampling along a representative portion of the arc. A pixel locator determines horizontal and vertical coordinates for each of the sampled angle values. A pixel indexer determines an associated row and column of the two-dimensional array for each of the sampled angle values and retrieves a color for each of the sampled angle values from the two-dimensional array. A graphical renderer draws pixels with the retrieved colors at the determined horizontal and vertical coordinates.

  • Patent number: 7392139
Abstract: For providing earthquake data for a defined area, stored are locations of a plurality of earthquake epicenters and seismic parameters associated with a plurality of seismic zones. The seismic parameters are indicative at least of magnitude and likelihood of earthquakes in each of the seismic zones. A location of a selected epicenter, within the defined area, is determined (S31) from the stored locations. Determined from the seismic parameters is a selected magnitude (S34) associated with a selected seismic zone comprising the selected epicenter. Established are characteristics of a plurality of earthquake events (S3) in the area over a defined length of time. The characteristics of an earthquake event include at least a selected epicenter and a selected magnitude. Generated is a signal indicative of the characteristics of the earthquake events. Enabled is an easy to maintain earthquake hazard model, having flexible and simple parameterization, and providing earthquake data consistent with historical data.

  • Patent number: 7389193
Abstract: An apparatus and method for calibrating transmission paths in a multicarrier communication system using multiple antennas are provided. In the transmission path calibrating apparatus, a calibration processor generates reference signals to estimate distortions in phase and amplitude in transmission paths, allocates the generated reference signals to subcarriers which are different in each of the transmission paths, and calculates calibration vectors for the transmission paths using the generated reference signals and received reference signals received through the transmission paths. A baseband module IFFT-processes the generated reference signals allocated to the subcarriers and sends the IFFT signals in the transmission paths.

  • Patent number: 7389183
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining the location of stuck pipe are provided. In one embodiment, the method includes the step of attaching a free point logging tool to a working line such as a slickline or wireline. The free point logging tool has a freepoint sensor and, optionally, an acoustic sensor. The freepoint sensor acquires magnetic permeability data in a string of pipe, while the acoustic sensor acquires acoustic data in the pipe. Two sets of data for each sensor are acquired—one in which the pipe under investigation is unstressed, and one in which the pipe is stressed. The first set and second sets of magnetic permeability data are compared to determine the stuck point location for the pipe. The first and second sets of acoustic data are compared to determine the nature in which the pipe is stuck.

  • Patent number: 7389186
Abstract: The invention provides a method and means of predicting, in near real-time, the detailed chemical composition of major streams in a refinery, including those downstream from the crude distillation column. The dynamically updated feed characterizations can be derived in near real time from an assay database of current crude diet, RTO information about upstream refinery units and various analyzer inputs. The chemical compositions of each stream are stored and updated in a plant wide database. A broad range of property calculations can be ascertained, either automatically or on demand, from the compositional information. An application permits users, such as operations, planning and engineering personnel, to access the database directly or indirectly (e.g., on line). This information is then used by each user to further optimize the operation of a given refinery unit and/or the plant as a whole.
