  • Patent number: 7389196
Abstract: An automated system for validating Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) bus adapters or PCI-X bus adapters has a computer, motherboard, a PCI-X bus and isolated test slot for operatively coupling a PCI/PCI adapter under test through the PCI-X bus to the motherboard. The isolated test slot is adapted and arranged to minimize degradation of data flow on the PCI-X bus such that a PCI-X adapter, mounted in the isolated test slot, can negotiate a required operating rate greater than PCI operating rates. It can be configured as a low profile slot in a low profile computer system, such as a 2U low profile system. A method for validating the PCI/PCI-X bus adapters comprises operatively coupling the bus adapter under test to the motherboard, negotiating to the required operating rate and testing the functionality of the adapter. The operating rate of the bus adapter can be verified to ensure the PCI/PCI-X bus adapters are tested at required PCI/PC-X rates.

  • Patent number: 7389195
Abstract: A computer implemented method, data processing system, and computer usable code are provided for burn-in testing of a multiprocessor. A process identifies a power management data set for a plurality of processor cores associated with the multiprocessor. The process selects one or more of the plurality of processor cores to form a selected set of processor cores based upon the power management data set. The process initiates a burn-in test across the selected set of processor cores. In response to a determination that all processor cores in the plurality of processor cores have not been selected, the process repeats the above selecting and initiating steps until all the processor cores have been selected.

  • Patent number: 7386397
Abstract: A method of determining a vertical component of particle velocity from seismic data acquired using at least one receiver disposed within a water column comprises determining the vertical component of particle velocity from the pressure at a first location and a second location. The first location is the location of a first receiver, and is vertically beneath the second location. The method uses an operator accurate for seismic data acquired at a vertical separation between the first and second locations of up to at least 0.4 times the minimum wavelength of seismic energy used to acquire the seismic data. The second location may be at or above the surface of the water column. Alternatively, the method be applied to a twin streamer seismic surveying arrangement in which the second location is below the surface of the water column and is the location of a second receiver.

  • Patent number: 7386403
Abstract: A method and a system for charging management are applied in an electronic device. The system includes a sensing unit, a detecting unit, a signal output unit, a receiving unit and a processing unit. By the method, when the sensing unit senses an external power source inputted to the electronic device, the detecting unit detects a current electric quantity of a battery of the electronic device. The processing unit actuates the signal output unit to provide an operating interface for a user to issue a command through a hot key or an application program selection control window. After the receiving unit receives the command from the user, a required charging mode is activated according to the user's requirement. Therefore, problems resulted from battery removal such as inconvenience and failure of an uninterruptable power mechanism are solved, and a battery charging frequency is reduced to prolong the battery lifetime.

  • Patent number: 7383133
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed to construct subsurface images from diffuse seismic energy. Various disclosed system embodiments include multiple seismic sensors that each convert received seismic energy into one or more seismic signals. One or more processor combine the seismic signals to determine a subsurface map. As part of determining the map, the processor(s) systematically focus the array of seismic sensors on each bin in the subsurface volume of interest. In this manner each bin becomes a focal point of the array. For each bin, the processor(s) analyze the seismic wave travel time to each seismic sensor and apply a corresponding time shift to align the seismic signals with a uniform travel time. The time-shifted seismic signals are then combined to determine an intensity value for seismic energy radiating from the focal point. A subsurface map can then be derived from the intensity value as a function of position.

  • Patent number: 7383159
Abstract: Techniques are presented for reusing business measures within a data store. A measure is associated with a measure type. Each measure is associated with a particular data store schema or schema element and includes metadata for fields and calculations against those fields. Requestors can select existing measures, create new measures, delete existing measures, and/or modify existing measures. A measure, when processed against the data store, produces results from a data store that are associated with the data store schema or the schema element and which conform to the fields and calculations defined within the measure's metadata.

  • Patent number: 7383160
Abstract: A method a low cost and production-integrable technique for providing a signal diagram. The data signal is edge-detected and asynchronously sampled (or alternatively a clock signal is latched). The data signal or a second signal is compared to a settable threshold voltage and sampled. The edge and comparison data are folded according to a swept timebase to find a minimum jitter period. The crossing of the signal diagram edges is determined from a peak of a histogram of the folded edge data. A histogram of ratios of the sample values versus displacement from the position of the crossing location is generated for each threshold voltage. The technique is repeated over a range of settable threshold voltages. Then, the ratio counts are differentiated across the histograms with respect to threshold voltage, from which a signal diagram is populated.

  • Patent number: 7383153
Abstract: Maximum conjunction probability calculations are refined by addressing rectangular object shapes, even though their orientation may not be known. Object dimensions and relative miss distance, coupled with the aspect ratio of the projected combined covariance, are used to determine the size and orientation of the covariance as well as the object orientation that produces the maximum probability. In treating the objects as rectangles instead of spheres, the probability calculation becomes more realistic by accounting for object shape. In the absence of object attitude information, a footprint is created that completely defines the region where the two objects might touch. This footprint can then be rotated to determine the orientation that produces the largest probability, making it the most conservative estimate for the given conjunction conditions.

  • Patent number: 7383149
Abstract: A semiconductor device that may include temperature sensing circuits is disclosed. The temperature sensing circuits may be used to control various parameters, such as internal regulated supply voltages, internal refresh frequency, a word line low voltage, or the like. In this way, operating specifications of a semiconductor device at worst case temperatures may be met without comprising performance at normal operating temperatures. Each temperature sensing circuit may include a selectable temperature threshold value as well as a selectable temperature hysteresis value. In this way, temperature performance characteristics may be finely tuned. Furthermore, a method of testing the temperature sensing circuits is disclosed in which a current value may be monitored and temperature threshold values and temperature hysteresis values may be thereby determined.

  • Patent number: 7383136
Abstract: A reduced order model called the Fundamental Mistuning Model (FMM) accurately predicts vibratory response of a bladed disk system. The FMM software may describe the normal modes and natural frequencies of a mistuned bladed disk using only its tuned system frequencies and the frequency mistuning of each blade/disk sector (i.e., the sector frequencies). The FMM system identification methods—basic and advanced FMM ID methods—use the normal (i.e., mistuned) modes and natural frequencies of the mistuned bladed disk to determine sector frequencies as well as tuned system frequencies. FMM may predict how much the bladed disk will vibrate under the operating (rotating) conditions. Field calibration and testing of the blades may be performed using traveling wave analysis and FMM ID methods. The FMM model can be generated completely from experimental data. Because of FMM's simplicity, no special interfaces are required for FMM to be compatible with a finite element model.
