  • Patent number: 7379829
Abstract: A method for generating radio frequency (RF) planning modeling data for an object. The method includes placing an RF signal source near the object and sequentially positioning a receiver at a plurality of locations around the object. At each of the locations, an indication is provided to the receiver that it is at a measurement location, and the receiver is allowed to detect a level of the RF signal produced by the RF signal source at the measurement location. In another aspect, an opening in an object is modeled as a virtual object that overlaps with the object and has a “negative attenuation” characteristic to cancel out the “positive attenuation” characteristic of the object.

  • Patent number: 7379844
Abstract: Disclosed is a technique for obtaining an estimate and variance of each variable based on a constraint manifold. Particles (or samples) are sampled in order to filter and fuse ambiguous data or information on at least one state variable of a system using the particles. The sampling is carried out in consideration of an influence which non-linearity of the constraint manifold of a system model, an observation model or another system model exerts on a probability distribution of the state variable. With this construction, it is possible to reduce decrease of fusion and filtering performance, decrease a Gaussian approximation error, and detect mismatched information.

  • Patent number: 7379846
Abstract: A method and system are provided for automated diagnosis for a system. In one embodiment, the method includes providing a fault tree representation of the system, the fault tree specifying propagations of errors generated in the system by problems to produce error reports. At least some of the propagations have timing information associated therewith. One or more error reports having timing information associated therewith are received and analysed using the fault tree representation to determine a suspect list of problems. The suspect list contains those problems that could have generated errors to produce the received error reports compatible with the propagations in the fault tree, and consistent with the timing information associated with the propagations and the received error reports.

  • Patent number: 7376522
Abstract: In an exemplary implementation of a method and system for determining the direction of fluid flow, one or more sound transducers are positioned in proximity to a conduit, each such sound transducer generating a signal representative of a selected characteristic of acoustic waves emanating from the conduit. Such signals are collected and analyzed to determine a threshold value for the selected characteristic (e.g., frequency) indicative of a change in the direction of fluid flow through the conduit. Based on whether subsequent measurements of the selected characteristic (e.g., frequency) are above or below the threshold value, the direction of fluid flow can be predicted and/or a change in the operational state of a component associated with the conduit can be identified.

  • Patent number: 7376528
Abstract: When used as a test data generator, CDR internal structures may be applied to generate drift conditions in the test data. For example, a finite state machine phase shifts a clock signal, over time, driving the test data generator thereby producing a drift condition on the test data. Once the test is completed, one of the other CDRs may be used as a tester to similarly generate test data for the first CDR. CDRs may be configured in pairs for this purpose so that one may be used to test the other.

  • Patent number: 7369967
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for modeling the performance of a system comprising computer software operating on computer hardware. In accordance with the present invention, system performance is modeled by fitting non-linear curves to data points for system performance parameters, such as response time and throughput, as a function of load. Data points may be measured in testing may be measured through monitoring a system operating in a production environment. While a variety of non-linear curves may be used in accordance with the present invention, a logarithmic curve may be used to model system throughput and an exponential curve may be used to model system response time. By defining a relationship between throughput and response time a distance may be calculated between the curves, and this distance may be used to determine an optimal load.

  • Patent number: 7366618
Abstract: A database system and method are provided to allow a user to characterize observations related to an otherwise unidentified process. A database is established that stores data for substances, processes and equipment according to a data model that relates attributes of substances, processes and equipment. Information related to observations, called observed data or observables, is entered by a user into the system as the search criteria. The observed data may range in complexity from the names of one or more substances and/or processing equipment to a text description of the odor, color and state of observed substances and/or equipment. The system searches the database using the search criteria to return a list of one or more processes that possibly create the observed data, and thus more completely characterize the process.
