  • Patent number: 6135371
Abstract: A cylindrical chamber has a drive shaft rotatably mounted therein and extending along substantially the entire longitudinal extent thereof. This drive shaft is rotatably driven by a motor preferably at a speed of about 3600 rpm. Solid particles to be comminuted which may be of coal, limestone/dolomite, or hydrated lime are fed into the chamber. Pressurized air is fed into the bottom of the chamber. Uplifting pressure for driving the air and particles upwardly in the chamber may be provided by pressurized gas in conjunction with a stationary velocity head. The upwardly driven particles are first driven through a plurality of rotors which are driven by the shaft and provide a centrifugal force which comminutes the particles. The particles are then driven through a plurality of semi-permeable screens which are rotatably driven by the shaft and further comminute the particles to a micronized state. To lower NO.sub.x and SO.sub.

  • Patent number: 6129299
Abstract: A reciprocating slat conveyor (22) conveys a body of bulk material (16) to the outlet end (21) of a container (12). The body of bulk material (16) is moved against a sloughing wall (10). The sloughing wall (10) includes a plurality of slats (40) that are mounted for generally up and down reciprocation. The slats (40) carry bulk material engaging teeth (60, 62). In response to the generally up and down movement of the slats (40) the teeth (60, 62) break loose the bulk material (16). • Patent number: 6126096
Abstract: A process is disclosed for the separation and recovery of fractional components of used carpet. Although the disclosed process is operable with either jute-backed or vinyl-backed carpet, an alternative process is preferred for vinyl-backed carpet to permit the sequential removal of the vinyl backing with most of the fiberglass stabilizer intact. The process includes the chilling of appropriately sized carpet pieces and preferably pre-soaking the used carpet pieces before chilling, followed by the introduction of the pre-conditioned used carpet pieces into a cyclonic comminuter which reduces the carpet pieces into fractional components. The chilling step could lower the temperature of the soaked carpet pieces to or below freezing to stiffen the backing material and enhance the comminution process.

Abstract: In a pull type forage harvester which travels forwardly in a field to pick up crop material and feed it into a housing having a cutterhead with knives rotatable around a transverse axes. The cutterhead chops the crop material and deposits it in a transverse trough having an auger which carries the crop to a lateral discharge location. The improvement comprises a corn processor adapter to which chopped corn is conveyed over a floor to an upper and a lower roll rotatable on axes parallel to the cutterhead. The rolls form a bite to receive the corn and pass it between them to crush the kernels therein. The upper roll is positioned close to the cutterhead knives and in crop stripping relation thereto. The lower roll is positioned over the auger to hold down chopped corn thrown upwardly out of the trough.

  • Patent number: 6102311
Abstract: A waste substance is crushed and separated into a crushed waste metallic substance and a crushed waste non-metallic substance by the crushing in the fine adjustment in mm unit and striking by hammers, and then discharged out of a shredder through box-shaped spaces having an inclined plane of an inclined upper shredder damper rocking by the fine adjustment in mm unit of the shredder. Thereby the waste substance is crushed and separated securely and efficiently, and the crushed waste metallic substance in 2-5 mm unit and the crushed waste non-metallic substance can be manufactured in the state that they are valuable as articles of commerce and can be effectively utilized as resources. When the crushed waste metallic substance is supplied to a furnace, the melting speed can be improved and the fuel cost necessary for the melting can be saved. Also the invention contributes to prevention of abuses such as environmental pollution by soot and smoke and the contamination of the atmosphere.
