Patent number: 5148727Abstract: An installation tool for use with locking fasteners which reduces cam off during use. The tool comprises a cylindrical socket wrench having a central axial bore which defines a recess on one end for attachment to a socket driver and an elliptical cavity on the opposite end for engaging the collar of the locking fastener. The installation tool further comprises one or more pockets positioned on the wrenching portion of the cavity. The pockets provide space in which collar mass is deformed. As the collar is deformed to lock the collar and bolt together, collar mass is deformed into the pockets on the tool. The deformed collar mass retains the tool and collar in an engaged position until the collar is completely deformed and the fastener is locked.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 1990Date of Patent: September 22, 1992Assignee: Air Industries CorporationInventor: Herman L. Patent number: 5146816Abstract: A clamp for connecting a pair of formwork panels which are to be disposed side-by-side in a common plane has two clamping members. Each of the clamping members includes a clamping arm for urging the panels together and an adjusting arm which is approximately perpendicular to the respective clamping arm. The clamping members are pivotally mounted on a U-shaped support and the adjusting arms are disposed internally of the support with their free ends overlapping. The clamping arms project from the support and are located on the same side of the latter as the transverse web bridging the legs of the support. The legs are provided with registering openings which are elongated transversely of the adjusting arms. A pivot extends through the overlapping ends of the adjusting arms and into the openings. The pivot is guided by the openings for movement transversely of the adjusting arms and carries an eccentric disc which is arranged to bear against the transverse web of the support.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 1991Date of Patent: September 15, 1992Assignee: Josef MaierInventor: Johann Badstieber

Patent number: 5140876Abstract: A pair of pliers has two opposingly curved halves to form jaws on one end and handles on the other end. One of the halves includes a primary, fised pivot blot, and a secondary, fixed pivot lug, adjacent to the pivot bolt. The other half has an opening in the pivot area with a recess on one side to hold the fixed pivot; the other side being arced about the recess and adjacent to, but just clearing the pivot lug. A spring on the other half holds the fixed pivot in the recess for basic opening and closing of the jaws of the pliers, but when the jaws engage a solid object, the fixed pivot comes out of its recess, and the pivot lug, which is toothed, engages the adjacent portion of the arced side of the opening, which is also toothed, to shift the fulcrum of the pliers from the fixed pivot on the one side of the opening to the pivot lug on the other side.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 1992Date of Patent: August 25, 1992Inventor: Walter G. Patent number: 5136900Abstract: A hand tool includes an electrically-conductive work engaging portion. The electrically-conductive work engaging portion is connected in series with a fuse which, in turn, is connected in series with the tool handle. Small electrical charges are allowed to flow through the tool and dissipated through a charge dissipation system. If a large charge passes through the tool, the fuse blows, thus preventing injury to the tool user.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1990Date of Patent: August 11, 1992Inventor: David S. Chapin

Patent number: 5136901Abstract: A reversible drive mechanism for socket wrenches, having a detented selector cap thereon. The socket driving post of the wrench is fixedly attached to a triangular shaft rotatably contained within an internal cylindrical bearing surface, creating three arc-shaped spaces. The cylindrical surface is the inner surface of the head of the wrench handle. Each of the surfaces on the triangular shaft has tiltably mounted thereon a U-shaped fixture, which loosely contains within its arms a cylindrical roller. As the selector cap is rotated back and forth between selector positions, each U-shaped fixture tips back and forth on its respective triangular surface, and shifts the contained roller from one side to the other of its respective arc-shaped space.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 1991Date of Patent: August 11, 1992Inventor: Keith S. Patent number: 5133688Abstract: This device is used to remove the tendon from a cut of meat and the meat product produced thereby. The device includes at least one blade which is capable of substantially surrounding the tendon. The tendon is pulled through the blade and the tissue which is in close proximity to the tendon without severing other tissue, allowing the cut of meat to remain substantially intact after the tendon is removed. The cutting blade may be a singular oval-shaped blade or may be two blades placed adjacent each other to form an opening through which the tendon can be pulled. The tendon can also be attached to a grasping device which pulls the tendon past the cutting edges. This grasping device can be attached to an actuator which moves it in a linear direction away from the cutting blade thus drawing the meat tissue adjacent the tendon into contact with the cutting edges of the blade. The actuator may be mechanically, hydraulically, or pneumatically powered.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 1990Date of Patent: July 28, 1992Inventor: Louis C. Hutchison

Patent number: 5131883Abstract: A food emulsion casing end-closure, and the method of making it, are disclosed. The end-closure is formed of a twist knot through which an air escape aperture is extended. The twist knot forms part of a wadding which is stuffed into the bore of a shirred casing stick and interference fitted therewith. The wadding acts as a shock absorber for the initial shock of extruded food emulsion and serves as means to enhance the consistency of that initial portion of extruded food emulsion. The twist knot is sufficiently tight that it can serve as a permanent end-closure or it may readily be opened by untwisting. Also provided is a lock means for maintaining the twist knot as such.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 1990Date of Patent: July 21, 1992Assignee: Teepak, Inc.Inventors: Ivo G. M. Hendriks, Johan Kwanten

Patent number: 5129857Abstract: When birds are placed upright on the interior surface of an open-ended, non-vertical rotating drum, the birds turn, regardless of their initial orientation, so as to face "uphill" in the drum. The birds leaving the drum are all found to have the same orientation, and thus can be more easily hung on shackles. An apparatus for performing the method comprises a frame, bearings connected to the frame, an open-ended drum supported for rotation about its longitudinal axis by the bearings, means for rotating the drum about its axis, means for depositing a series of birds on the interior surface of the drum, at a first end of the drum as it rotates, and means for receiving birds exiting from a second end of the drum. The drum preferably declines from the first end toward the second at a depression angle of about 15.degree..Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 1991Date of Patent: July 14, 1992Inventors: Marlin E.
