  • Patent number: 4832578
Abstract: A three-stage compressor wherein the housing proper has a central bore with two adjacent bores that are co-axial therewith. A first piston is cooperative with the central bore to define a first stage compression chamber. A second piston smaller than the first piston but integral therewith is received by one of the adjacent bores to define a second stage compression chamber that receives its pressurized air from the first chamber. A third piston smaller than the second piston is received by the remaining one of the adjacent bores to define a third stage compression chamber that receives its pressurized air from the second chamber for further compression.

  • Patent number: 4829769
Abstract: A power transmission apparatus uses a vane pump in which a rotor coupled to a second rotary shaft is rotatably housed in a rotatable housing coupled to a first rotary shaft, and flow of hydraulic operating fluid in the vane pump due to relative rotation of the first and second rotary shafts is regulated to transmit drive force between the first and second rotary shafts. In the power transmission apparatus, small passages are formed in pump chambers defined between the housing and the rotor to permit flow, to a certain extent, of hydraulic operating fluid between delivery side chambers and suction side chambers formed by partitioning the pump chambers by movable vanes mounted in the rotor, thereby preventing fluctuation of torque transmitted between the first and second rotary shafts and preventing occurrence of cavitation in the pump chambers.

  • Patent number: 4830591
Abstract: A lubrication system for a rotary-piston internal combustion engine of the trochoid type with roller or needle bearings between the eccentric and the rotor. Lubricating oil in a dosed quantity is passed through a bore in the side part adjacent the gearing between the shaft and the pinion of the gear, from where it is supplied to the connection of the eccentric where, due to the centrifugal force, it is sprayed or splashed into a collector plate at the eccentric wall at the side of the gear. A bore leads from this collector plate to the eccentric bearing and passes the oil into the bearing under the influence of the centrifugal force. Excess oil serves to lubricate the gear and the gas seal elements.

  • Patent number: 4820138
Abstract: A gear-within-gear positive displacement pump, such as an automotive fuel pump, is disclosed having a pump chamber, an internal gear within the pump chamber, and an external gear within the internal gear. The pump chamber has an inlet and an outlet. The external gear is rotatably driven thereby causing the internal gear to rotate and further causing the teeth of the internal and external gears to unmesh thereby drawing fluid into the pump chamber between the gears and further causing the teeth of the gears to mesh so as to positively force the fluid out of the pump chamber. A pressure balancing passage way is provided between the portion of the pump housing in which the gear teeth mesh thereby permitting fluid under pressure to be directed to the exterior of the internal gear so as to pressure bias the internal gear generally toward the inlet and to at least in part balance the pressure forces on the internal gear with a consequent reduction of noise and increase in pump efficiency.

  • Patent number: 4812111
Abstract: An internally meshing gear-pump, or motor comprises inlet and outlet ports 27,28 for the working fluid through a sealing plate 5 mounted on the shaft 1, an externally-toothed gear 2 is longitudinally displaceable relative to internally-toothed gears 3,4 to vary the pump or motor displacement, a sealing member 6 is secured to the end-face of the gear 2 which separates the displacement chambers 29,30 from the varying volume spaces which may be filled by controlled working fluid formed in both longitudinal and diametrically opposite regions 11,12. When the gear 2 is moved longitudinally from the maximum displacement position to the extreme left to a reduced capacity position and thus varies the output of the pump or motor mounting these machines back-to-back or in other combinations, a continuously variable and or differential transmission of working fluid may be obtained. Additionally electrical windings 85,86 may be mounted in the casings 7,8.
