  • Patent number: 4801250
Abstract: A V-twin, two-stage compressor has valve plates disposed between the head and cylinder of each stage and mounting free-floating flexible reed intake and exhaust valves therein. The flexible reeds are movably captured between the floors of respective reed recesses, and separate, non-fixed keeper bars are disposed over, but slightly spaced from, the reeds. Keeper bars over the exhaust reed extend above the valve plate for engagement by the head. A restrictor plate lies within a valve plate recess on keeper bars over the intake valve. A cored crankshaft providing motor drive shaft lubrication, and a removable counterweight providing crankshaft use with one-piece connecting rods is disclosed. A cooling fan is driven by the removable counterweight and V-shaped fan shroud projections direct cooling air over the cylinders and heads while another cooling air port directs air over an intercooler.

  • Patent number: 4797075
Abstract: A progressing cavity well pump has an overspeed brake to protect the gear box during reverse rotation. A power source rotates an input shaft of the gear box, which through a right angle drive, drives a string of rods extending into the well to the progressing cavity pump. A centrifugal brake is mounted to the input shaft. If the pump locks up, the power source will impart energy to the rods by twisting them until the power source reaches its limit. When the rods start to unwind, the centrifugal brake will engage to dissipate energy and slow the speed of the reverse rotation.

  • Patent number: 4795091
Abstract: An adjustable railway fastening for securing a bridge girder or cover plate of the girder to a cross-tie on a bridge which includes a resilient clip having a planar body portion with an elongated slotted opening therein for a bolt which is offset with respect to the resilient end engaging bridge girder. The resilient end in the form of a compression arch engages a girder flange to limit vertical movement and a tie-engaging end includes downwardly and outwardly extending ears for laterally restraining the cross-tie. A shoulder on the resilient end also engages a side of the girder flange to further limit lateral movement. In order to provide greater resilience, the arch includes two separate finger portions joined at the base with the body portion to form a U, each of the finger portions having a lip adapted to overlie the girder flange. A plate has an aperture for receiving a bolt and a projecting lug adjacent to the aperture to facilitate securing a bolt tensioning member, i.e., a nut.

  • Patent number: 4795320
Abstract: A quick connect, disconnect adapter for a fuel pump outlet and a fuel line inlet in the form of a tubular flexible element with ends to slip over, respectively, a pump outlet nipple and fuel line conduit. A one-way duck-bill valve is molded integrally with the element to retain fuel in the fuel line when the pump is not operating. A coil spring embraces the element to confine the ends. A central portion of the element is expansible to absorb and modulate pump pulses and is confined against abnormal expansion by the coils of the spring. The coil can be slipped axially to release confinement of one end to allow ready removal from the pump outlet.

  • Patent number: 4793777
Abstract: A centrifugal pump of the magneto coupling type in which an isolation shell separates the pump side from the driver side includes an auxiliary impeller arranged additionally to the pump impeller proper. This allows a decreasing of the pressure in the spaces at the reverse side of the pump impeller and thus a balancing of the thrust forces. This effect can be controlled by control means located in the casing at the outer end of the feeding channels of the auxiliary impeller. This allows the provision of a pump of a simple design in which e.g. the isolation shell can be made with an extremely small wall thickness and in which an open or closed pump impeller can be supported without any thrust generated difficulties.

  • Patent number: 4792294
Abstract: A two-stage pumping apparatus is disclosed which is particularly suited for moving highly viscous materials, and other materials which do not readily lend themselves to pumping. The apparatus includes a generally vertically oriented housing with an infeed opening defined generally at the upper end thereof for gravity infeed of material into the apparatus. A pair of cooperating, counter-rotating screw augers are provided within the housing for rotation together about respective parallel axes. By this arrangement, material moves axially of the augers generally downwardly through the pump housing to a discharge opening defined by the housing. Notably, each of the screw augers includes helical flights intermeshed with the flights of the other auger, with the flights configured to provide a two-stage pumping action, including a first, upstream non-positive displacement pumping, and a second, downstream positive displacement pumping.

  • Patent number: 4792291
Abstract: The hydraulically powered fluid pump has a spool valve which controls the direction of travel of the pump. The spool valve is designed to switch between positions relatively slowly so that in between pump cycles, the ball checks associated with the pump may return under the force of gravity to their seats. This natural gravity return produces greatly decreased noise levels and increased seat life compared with the slamming action present in current pumps. The spool valve is viscous damped and of a closed centered construction to allow the relatively slow switchover to take place.

  • Patent number: 4789155
Abstract: A competitive game toy for one or more players, dependent on personal reaction time and hand-eye coordination. Players manually trigger the driving of a movable indicator along a path having successive intervals marked with award indicia of any desired game or sport, and also manually halt the indicator therealong. The indicia may be point scores or instructions to add or delete turns or for simulated playing of a game or sport, such as baseball. The players, striving to be awarded a high score or good play, try to stop the indicator along path intervals with favorable indicia.

  • Patent number: 4780065
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved cylinder pump. The cylinder pump includes air hoists enabling the entire pump assembly to be lifted so that a container may be placed thereunder and thereafter the air hoists may be biased downwardly so that the follower plate of the pump mechanism will bear down on top of the liquid contained within the container. Thereafter, the air cylinder of the pump is activated and reciprocated up and down through the provision of a four port reversing valve activated through the use of air sensors to cause the pump to pump fluid out of the container while the downward bias of the air hoists keeps the follower plate in contact with the surface of the liquid within the container. By separating the air cylinder actuator for the pump mechanism from the four port reversing valve thereof, improved reliability and quietness are attained.
