  • Patent number: 4776778
Abstract: In a refrigerant compressor, a driving shaft is rotatably supported within a compressor housing by a bearing on a suction side. A trigger valve is provided in a passageway communicating a discharge pressure chamber with the bearing on the suction side. When pressure within the discharge pressure chamber is lower than a predetermined value, the trigger valve opens the passageway to permit gaseous refrigerant of high temperature within the discharge pressure chamber to be supplied to the bearing on the suction side.

  • Patent number: 4775301
Abstract: An oscillatory pump includes a cylinder (9) having normally-closed valves (10,13) of flexible material fixedly located at the inlet (A.sub.c) and outlet (B.sub.c) ends of the cylinder (9), and a piston (1) having an inlet (A.sub.p) and an outlet (B.sub.p). The piston (1) is reciprocatable within the cylinder (9) and is provided with a further valve (6) of flexible material movable with the piston (1) and located at the outlet end (B.sub.p) of the piston (1). The piston (1) is constructed to allow fluid to pass from an inlet chamber (C1) formed between the inlet valve (10) and the inlet end (A.sub.p) of the piston (1) to an outlet chamber (C2) formed between the further valve (6) and the outlet valve (13) in response of the piston (1) within the cylinder (9). The valve includes a valve seat having a generally conical first surface portion and a second surface portion located radially inwardly of the first surface portion and extending generally parallel to the axis of the first surface portion.

  • Patent number: 4772185
Abstract: A rotary vane vacuum pump assembly is disclosed which is characterized by the absence of the discharge of lubricating oil with the exhaust airstream, and which includes an internal stator and a surrounding rotor. Pivotal vanes are mounted on the interior of the rotor, so as to define a plurality of air chambers which expand and contract as the rotor rotates about the stator. Also, a freely rotatably cylindrical sleeve is positioned between the stator and vanes, so that the relative sliding contact of the vanes on the surface of the sleeve is minimized, to thereby eliminate the need for internal oil lubrication. In one preferred embodiment, a hydraulic pump is joined to the vacuum pump to form a compact assembly, and wherein the hydraulic pump supplies oil to the bearings which mount the rotor.

  • Patent number: 4772190
Abstract: A vane cell pump comprises a housing having a small bore at one end extending to a large bore at the other end. A drive shaft for a pump package, i.e., a rotor, vanes and cam ring in said large bore. The other end of the housing is closed by a pressure plate against which one radial face of the pump package rotates, and which pressure plate is bolted to the housing. Another pressure plate within the large bore is pressed against the opposite radial face of the pump package by being exposed to an outlet pressure chamber of the pump. The area of the outlet pressure chamber to which the latter pressure plate is exposed is demarcated by axial sealing elements surrounding the drive shaft and exerting a compression force between a housing wall and the latter pressure plate. The construction effects a tight tolerance between relatively moving parts at all times including the start of pump operation.

  • Patent number: 4770578
Abstract: An arrangement for securing bins to a deck of a vehicle, which employs a tie-down frame. The tie-down frame includes longitudinally extending right angle members that extend along the outboard upper end edges of the bins and outboard transversely extending right angle end members that extend across the uppermost side edges of the outboard bins. Right angle members are fixed to the longitudinal members inwardly of the transverse end members to engage the outward corners of the intermediate bins. The tie-down frame also includes intermediate transversely extending channel-shaped members that extend along the top of the bins inwardly from the outboard transversely extending end members for receiving the tines of a fork lift truck to move the tie-down frame from place-to-place. The tie-down frame is placed along the top of the bins. Cables releasably secure the tie-down frame to the deck to prevent the bins from sliding along the deck.

  • Patent number: 4761124
Abstract: A screw compressor of the kind incorporating at least one male rotor and one female rotor, with helically extending lands and grooves. The female rotor (1) is injection moulded from a plastics material having a modulus of elasticity of at most 25,000 N/mm.sup.2. The lands (3) of the female rotor have a thickness (a) which is so adapted to the modulus of elasticity of the plastics material as to allow the lands to be deflected resiliently when clashing with the other rotor (2), as a result of dimensional deviations of the order likely to occur during hardening or curing of the plastics material, or at prevailing temperature variations, but not as a result of the pressure exerted by the working fluid. Due to the injection moulding the surface smoothness is fine enough to make subsequent finishing unnecessary and damages caused by lack of machining are avoided because of the resilient deflecting of the lands of the female rotor when clashing with the other rotor.

  • Patent number: 4758136
Abstract: A screw compressor lubrication channel for lubrication of a rotor bearing on the compressor's low pressure side, which is supplied with refrigerant droplets containing oil accompanying the inlet gas. This kind of lubrication is usually carried out by permitting a limited amount of gas and oil to flow from the high pressure side to the low pressure side via the bearings located on the low pressure side, and further to the inlet. By this working mode compressor capacity as well as compression work deposited is lost. This is avoided when the compressor according to the present invention is provided with a special, smaller inlet channel (7), which via the rotor bearing (3) opens out in a specific inlet port (8) located at an expanding rotor thread presenting a lower pressure than the inlet (6) pressure of the compressor.

  • Patent number: 4755116
Abstract: A rotor housing for a rotary piston engine having improved gas sealing property between the inner surface and apex seals mounted on a rotor. The rotor housing has an inner surface applied with a hard layer such as chrome plating. The portions of the hard layer surrounding openings of plug holes at the inner surface side are formed with softened areas having lower hardness than the apex seals. The softened areas can be made by a high-energy beam such as a laser beam. Should portions surrounding the openings of the plug holes be thermally deformed to project inward and scratch the apex seals, the projected portions formed of the softened areas will be worn before the apex seals. Hence, uneven wearing of the apex seals can be avoided, which prevents degradation of the gas sealing property and consequently prevents drop in the compression pressure in the working chambers.

  • Patent number: 4743176
Abstract: A compressor assembly including an electric motor and a compressor crankcase. The compressor crankcase includes a suction inlet. A motor casing is secured to the crankcase. The suction inlet is connected by means of a first passage to the interior of the motor casing. A baffle located in the motor casing causes a portion of the inflowing refrigerant suction gas to be diverted to flow over and cool the rear windings of the motor. The remainder of the inflowing gas is caused to flow over and cool the front windings of the motor. After flowing over the windings, the two portions of the suction gas are recombined and the suction gas is then caused to flow out of the motor casing to the compressor cylinder suction inlet.
