  • Patent number: 4888904
Abstract: A fishing lure including a transparent body enclosing a programmable liquid crystal display device is disclosed. An integrated surface chip powered by a small battery drives the display and may be selectively actuated to produce images simulating various forms of natural fish baits, such as minnows, worms, crickets and other insects, or crayfish, any one of which may be selectively displayed, at the option of the user. The system may also be programmed to cause portions of the display to alternate in position, thereby creating an illusion of motion. Program controls and battery are housed within the body and are accessible through an opening normally closed by a removable plug. A fish hook is secured in position on the body in cooperative relation to the liquid cyrstal display.

  • Patent number: 4888907
Abstract: A fishing lure (10) is disclosed for providing controlled discharge of a fish attractant (40). The lure includes a cavity (28) in which an attractand-receiving bladder (34) is positioned. The bladder has an outlet (36) coupled to the body (14) of the lure, with the outlet being controlled by a valve assembly (38). Pressure equalization ports (30) provide fluid communication between the exterior of the lure and the cavity surrounding the bladder. With attractant introduced into the bladder and the lure drawn through water (12), attractant is discharged by the cooperative action of the bladder, the attractant, valve assembly, and environment to enhance the performance of the lure.

  • Patent number: 4888909
Abstract: A fishing lure having a head member with a straight bore and a core wire extending through the bore from a leading end to a trailing end of the core wire. A fishing line connection is located at the leading end in a position spaced from the axis of the bore to maintain the lure in a generally horizontal position. The head member has a leading face at an angle to the axis of the bore for pulling the lure downward and from side-to-side as it is pulled through the water. Body means such as a spinner blade and at least one swivel bead are mounted on the core wire between the head member and the trailing end of the core wire where a hook is attached.

  • Patent number: 4887375
Abstract: The butt of a deep-sea fishing rod is adapted to be manually held by a fisherman while the fisherman is standing near the rail, transom or bow of a fishing boat. Then, when the fisherman becomes tired, he telescopes the butt into a reel-raising rod-lengthening extender socket in nonrotatable relationship, following which he sits down in a fishing chair and inserts the lower end of the extender socket into the chair gimbal. The construction of the butt and the extender socket are such that even large axial forces directed downwardly toward the bucket harness as the fisherman grips the rod between the reel and the tip while fighting a fish, does not shorten the combination of the butt and extender socket.

  • Patent number: 4885866
Abstract: Improved fishing lure apparatus including a spoon with a mounting hole and a substantially rigid attachment loop extending loosely therethrough. The interengaging portions of the spoon mounting hole and/or attachment loop have non-circular shaping which focuses the engagement of the loop and mounting hole toward the centerpoint of the leading edge of the mounting hole as the lure apparatus is drawn through water. Some embodiments include a gap in the leading edge which allows easy spoon removal. A spindle-mounted tube and clevis dimensioned facilitate connection and disconnection of the spoon and clevis.

  • Patent number: 4883216
Abstract: A method for repairing or manufacturing an article, such as a bladed disk, having an integral projection, for example an airfoil, includes first removing a damaged projection to provide a stub, or in new manufacture providing the stub. A collar shaped to register with the stub is provided and bonded to the stub to generate a stub-collar combination. Then a replacement or new projection member is bonded to the stub-collar combination. Finishing then provides the article. • Patent number: 4879834
Abstract: This invention provides an improved fishing tackle depth planer and release mechanism. Only a strong pull from the fishing rod will cause the mechanism to release, whereas a relatively light tug from the tackle end of the line will trigger the release. The mechanism not only trips the planer out of its diving orientation, but also allows the planer to slide down the fishing line to the lure once a fish has struck. This feature permits the fisherman to use the planer a great distance away from the lure on the fishing line. The release mechanism comprises a plug, a corresponding sleeve and surrounding ring assembly, and holes in each through which the fishing line is threaded. The planer has a hemispherical weight rivetted through it to provide balance without a keeling effect.

  • Patent number: 4876820
Abstract: A fishing planer includes a planer body with a weight mounted at the leading edge thereof. The planer body is also provided with a pair of concavities and convexities located in a front portion of the body and having holes extending therethrough. The concavities and convexities and holes essentially allow transfer of water underneath the planer body to the upper surface of the planer body in order to increase differential forces acting on the upper surface of the planer body to enhance its diving capability. A first embodiment utilizes a looped bail to connect the planer body to the reel line. A second embodiment utilizes a rotatable tripping lever to connect the planer body to the reel line.

  • Patent number: 4876823
Abstract: An insect trap consists of an elongated section of sheet plastic bent to have a uniform cross section characterized by a flat base and a curved section extending from one of the edges of the base upwardly and toward the free edge and then downwardly toward the base, to form a re-entrant trap section. A pressure sensitive coating on the underside of the base allows the base to be secured to a supporting surface. A pressure sensitive adhesive coating and a pesticide are disposed within the trap section to capture insects that enter the trap from the supporting surface. The trap is made of low cost plastic material and may be disposed with the trapped insects after use.

  • Patent number: 4876821
Abstract: This invention is a baited animal trap, positioned above a water reservoir and comprising a rotatable walkway held in position by a magnetic release device. Bait positioned beyond the walkway attracts an animal to walk thereon. The magnetic release device releases when an animal proceeds on the walkway causing the walkway to rotate and plunge the animal into the water reservoir. A reset device attached to the walkway causes the walkway to re-rotate to re-engage the magnetic release device and thus automatically resets the trap for the trapping of another animal.

  • Patent number: 4873785
Abstract: A trap with two openable side doors to trap animals. The trap includes a top plate, a bottom plate, four side doors, two elongated elements and a delicate sensing means. In the four doors, two or four of them are selectively openable, but only two of them which face each other can be opened at one time. Springs are provided for connecting the top plate and side openable doors. The sensing means comprises a block for hooking the elongated elements and three hooks for hooking baits to entrap animals. Each of the elongated elements is substantially L-shaped with a hooked end. While trapping animals, two openable doors are opened and fixed by inserting the elongated elements into a slot on each opening door and then elongated elements are slightly hooked on the block with the hooked ends. When animals are enclosed in the trap, bite the bait or touch the sensing means, the block will be disturbed.
