  • Patent number: 4869011
Abstract: The invention provides a stainless steel fillet knife and a sharpening rod encased removable in the handle of a fishing rod similar to a typical rod and reel fishing rod. The middle section or reel seat of the handle is hollow forming a chamber which encases the blade of a fillet knife. The butt grip of the rod is the handle of the fillet knife and attaches removable to the reel seat by external threads in a neck fitting internal threads in a captive attachment ring. An O-ring between the two sections water seals the knife compartment. The interior of the butt grip is also hollow and a silicon padded chamber houses a diamond steel sharpening rod. The sharpening rod has a plug-like handle arranged inserted removable through an aperture into the butt end of the butt grip. The sharpening rod can be withdrawn for use by pulling the handle which is accessible on the back surface of the butt cap. The sharpening rod handle is structured of luminescent material and glows in the dark.

  • Patent number: 4864763
Abstract: A temperature measuring device includes a temperature sensor which is located adjacent one end of an elongated member such as a hiking/wading staff or a fishing rod. A temperature measurement display device is located in the vicinity of the other end of the elongated member. Selectable predetermined temperature alarm limits are included to provide visual, or audible and/or tactile alarms when the temperature measured by the temperature sensor exceeds the predetermined alarm limits. In another embodiment, the temperature sensor is electrically connected to the temperature measurement display through a connector disposed in a fishing reel which, when mounted on the handle of the fishing rod, effects the electrical connection between the temperature sensor and the temperature measurement display to be made.

  • Patent number: 4864768
Abstract: In fishing tackle depth planers, it is common to have a device that planes downward in the water until a fish's strike trips a release mechanism, at which time the planer assumes a non-diving orientation and is more easily retrieved up through the water. A device is provided that not only dives in a pre-release, trolling orientation, but also actively planes toward the surface after the release when the device is pulled backward by a fish away from the fisherman. The device accomplishes this with a tubular construction and means for connecting both the leading and trailing fishing lines in correct positions on the device to achieve the desired effects in the water.

  • Patent number: 4862627
Abstract: An ice fishing device for aiding an ice fisherman in setting or holding a fishing line over a hole in the ice, and providing a visual signal when a fish is on the line. The device is characterized by means for releaseably holding a bobber over an aperture in the device, and release and disappearance or "pop-down" of the bobber when a fish is on the line. The device insulates the hole from the atmosphere and provides for solar heating of the hole area to prevent freeze-over of the hole. Jigging of the line is also provided for by the invention.

  • Patent number: 4862633
Abstract: A novel gangion for longline fishing gear is disclosed. Prior gangions consisted of a length of braided nylon cord or twine. The present invention provides a gangion consisting of a reduced length of braided nylon cord attached to the gangion snap. The hook is connected to a length of heavy monofilament nylon line. The nylon monofilament is connected in turn by a swivel to the braided nylon. The problem with twisting and tangling of the gangion is thereby overcome.

  • Patent number: 4858819
Abstract: Wire bonds are closely spaced about the edge of a semiconductor chip device (150) in an orthogonal array. Even though the wires may have a fan out pattern to their second bond locations, close spacing of the first bond pads is achieved by use of rectangular pads (154) having their long dimensions all perpendicular to the chip edge, making all of the first bonds along lines perpendicular to the chip edge and then bending the wire to extend to the second bond.
