  • Patent number: 4858368
Abstract: A fishing lure includes a semi-rigid, translucent inner body having a bore therethrough which accommodates a fishing line therethrough and an outer body of woven material that encases the inner body. The outer body includes a tail portion that is unwoven. A head is attached to the outer body to attach the outer body to the inner body, and a hackle includes two portions of bristle-like material attached to the head. The lure is attached to the fishing line by cutting that line and slipping the line through the bore in the lure with the unwoven portion of the lure outer body located on the line to be adjacent to a spinner and a hook which are then attached to the fishing line.

  • Patent number: 4858371
Abstract: The terminal tackle device of the present invention generally includes a body portion being open at each end and having an internal longitudinal channel connecting each end. The body portion has outer dimensions larger than the inner dimensions of the terminal guide of a fishing rod. A barbless bend segment is fully retractable within one end of the body portion. An end of the bend segment carries a sharpened point and an other end of the bend segment is linked to a flexible shank which is slidably movable within the longitudinal channel of the body portion. The shank is of sufficient length so that an eye carried at an other end of the shank extends outside of and from an other end of the body portion. A biasing element is carried within the longitudinal channel of the body portion and surrounds a portion of the shank to return the bend segment, after retraction, to a fully extended position.

  • Patent number: 4856220
Abstract: A spinning rod retainer cap fits over the mouth of a tubular rod holder to hold the handle and reel of a spinning rod inserted therein. The retainer cap comprises a cylindrical skirt, and a plurality of resilient fingers extending inwardly from the upper end of the skirt, the tips of the fingers defining an entry opening for the handle into the tubular rod holder. Two retainer posts extend upwardly from the skirt adjacent resilient fingers and are spaced apart to define a notch receiving and accommodating the mounting strut of the reel. The resilient fingers incline toward the rod handle to form the notch into a triangular configuration with a narrow entry slot for receiving and restraining the reel strut of the reel.

  • Patent number: 4854496
Abstract: A porous metal coated implant is produced by diffusion bonding metal powder particles, preferably spherical or flattened spherical metal powder particles of commercially pure titanium grade, in the form of an insert or pad to a substrate, preferably commercially pure titanium or Ti 6Al-4V ELI, a prosthesis below the beta-transus of the substrate material, under pressure and temperature in a non-reactive atmosphere, such as vacuum. The use of pressure permits bonding temperatures to be reduced to approximately 50% of the melting point of the substrate material. A clamping mechanism for applying pressure to the components is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4854067
Abstract: A hydropneumatic harpoon has an arrow, a base and a body with a hydraulic chamber. In the rear end of the chamber is a pneumoaccumulator, the front of which rests against a rubber membrane whose front part is placed on a discharge grid while its rear part is mounted on a mobile barrel that is sealed by a rubber ring. Perpendicularly to the axis of the discharge grid is mounted a trigger valve. The barrel is connected through intermediate barrels with an attachment in which is placed a seal for the arrow. The arrow is composed of a basic stem and a point that are connected through one or more intermediate stems. The inner diameter of the barrel and those of the intermediate barrels are equal. The diameter of the basic stem and the diameters of the intermediate stems are also equal. A principal advantage of this harpoon is the ability to modify its length and thus to obtain a harpoon with a small, medium or large killing force when used in submarine fishing.

  • Patent number: 4852296
Abstract: A device to attract flying insects and cause their demise by electrocution provides two spaced cylindrical grids that are oppositely charged electrically in such fashion and so spaced that an insect coming in contact therewith or passing therebetween causes an electric discharge between the grids that kills the insect. The device provides a light to aid in attracting insects primarily during hours of darkness and an openable container for olfactory attractants such as food stuffs and pheromones. The attractant container, if opened during use of the device, deactivates the electrical circuitry to avoid operator injury.

  • Patent number: 4848022
Abstract: The handle for a fishing rod according to the present invention can improve the sense of fit of the fingers with respect to a reel-attaching portion when said portion is taken hold of. The handle comprises a reel-depositing surface of the reel-attaching portion expanded in both right and left directions to form a bulgy portion which makes the width of said surface larger than that of a reel-foot. In accordance with the reel-depositing surface, the finger-placing surface of the reel-attaching portion is formed to have a large circular surface area which fits well with the dispositions and the bending angle of the fingers. This configulation is very advantageous in giving an improved sense of fit of the fingers with respect to the finger-placing surface of the reel-attaching portion and also a comfortable and safe gripping performance.

  • Patent number: 4845872
Abstract: The silhouette goose decoy is designed for effective hunting and for convenient storage and transportation. The decoy has a flat silhouette plate with the perimeter of the plate defining the outline of a lateral view of the body, neck and head portions of a goose. The silhouette plate has non-glare opposing parallel surfaces with macroscopic depressions and elevations capable of preventing mirror-like glare of reflected sunlight. A black sunlight absorbing coating covers the neck portion of the front, top and rear of the head portion and the top and front bottom of the body portion of the opposing surfaces. A white coating covers the middle bottom of the head portion and the rear bottom of the body portion of the opposing surfaces. A stake supports the plate and is attached to the body portion of the silhouette plate with a pivotable and lockable connection. The silhouette plate is rotatable in a plane perpendicular to the ground in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction about the connection.

  • Patent number: 4846393
Abstract: A process for attaching a porous layer to a substrate adapted to form the core of a hip prosthesis, the substrate is placed in a cavity in a mould. Spherules are introduced into the space between the substrate and the walls of the cavity. The mould is placed in a furnace, which is heated to a temperature at which the material of which the substrate is made is superplastic. Then a pressure of the order of 10 to 30 MPa is applied to the mould, enabling the spherules to be encrusted on the substrate at a relatively low temperature.

  • Patent number: 4844325
Abstract: A process of die-bonding a semiconductor chip. The semiconductor chip is sucked by a collet and fixed on a preform which is formed on a die pad. A load is applied to the chip and a gas is blown around the semiconductor chip. so as to flatten any of the preform that has gone beyond the interface between the chip and die pad. The entire assembly is heated thereby curing the preform. In a preferred embodiment the semiconductor chip is sucked with the collet via a vacuum pump and an inert gas is blown around the semiconductor chip.
