Patent number: 8929320Abstract: A User Equipment, UE, of a cellular communication system transmits scheduling assistance data to a base station comprising a base station scheduler which schedules uplink packet data. The scheduling assistance data relates to uplink packet data transmission from the UE. The UE comprises a channel controller which is operable to cause the scheduling assistance data to be transmitted from the UE to the base station in a first physical resource of an uplink air interface. The first physical resource is not managed by the base station based scheduler. The scheduling assistance data may specifically be transmitted in a first transport channel multiplexed with other transport channels on a physical resource. The transport channels may be individually optimized and may have different termination points and transmission reliabilities. Specifically, the transport channel supporting the scheduling assistance data signaling may have a high reliability and be terminated in the base station.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2013Date of Patent: January 6, 2015Assignee: Sony CorporationInventors: Nicholas William Anderson, Martin Warwick Beale, Peter Jonathon Legg

Patent number: 8923293Abstract: One embodiment provides a system that forwards a packet with a hierarchically structured variable-length identifier (HSVLI) in a network. An HSVLI indicates a piece of content and indicates a hierarchical structure of contiguous components ordered from a most general level to a most specific level. The length of the HSVLI is not fixed. During operation, the system receives a packet which contains an interest for a piece of content with an HSVLI. Subsequently, the system determines forwarding information for the HSVLI based on one or more of: knowledge of content which matches the HSVLI, a forwarding policy, and contextual information about the network. Next, the system configures a forwarding engine with the forwarding information. The system then forwards the packet based on the forwarding information.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 2009Date of Patent: December 30, 2014Assignee: Palo Alto Research Center IncorporatedInventors: Van L. Patent number: 8917742Abstract: A network interface that connects a computing device to a network may be configured to process incoming packets and determine an action to take with respect to each packet, thus decreasing processing demands on a processor of the computing device. The action may be indicating the packet to an operating system of the computing device immediately, storing the packet in a queue of one or more queues or discarding the packet. When the processor is interrupted, multiple packets aggregated on the network interface may be indicated to the operating system all at once to increase the device's power efficiency. Hardware of the network interface may be programmed to process the packets using filter criteria specified by the operating system based on information gathered by the operating system, such as firewall rules.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 2011Date of Patent: December 23, 2014Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Osman N. Patent number: 8885603Abstract: A method is provided of performing a session transfer with Single Radio Voice Call Continuity, SRVCC, from a Packet Switched, PS, access to a Circuit Switched, CS, access of a telecommunications session that has been established over the PS access via an IP Multimedia Subsystem, IMS, network. A request for the transfer of the session is received. An indication of a voice codec that is currently being used for the session is obtained from the IMS network. Allocation of resources for the session in the CS access network is initiated, including specifying the voice codec to be used based on the obtained codec indication. Transfer of the session to the CS access is initiated so that the session continues with use of the specified voice codec.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2012Date of Patent: November 11, 2014Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (Publ)Inventors: Ralf Keller, Fredrik Lndholm, Karl-Peter Ranke

Patent number: 8867362Abstract: A congestion indication is introduced to indicate the congestion status of the circuit-switched network to a packet-switched network, such as an LTE network. The congestion indication is transmitted from an interworking function in the circuit-switched network to the LTE network. The congestion indication and/or other congestion information is transmitted with a circuit services signaling message that is otherwise being sent. Piggy-backing the congestion information with other circuit services signaling messages reduces the amount of signaling over the LTE network.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2010Date of Patent: October 21, 2014Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (Publ)Inventors: Octavio Jose De Franca Lima, Ke-Chi Jang

Patent number: 8848509Abstract: A three stage folded Clos network is used for Ethernet routing with improved efficiency for computational complexity, network administration, multicast addressing and load redistribution upon failure. The network includes an array of root nodes coupled to an array of edge nodes. Forwarding states are computed and installed for spanning trees rooted on the root nodes. When an edge node is identified as having a failed connection to a root node, a shortest path first (SPF) tree rooted on that edge node is constructed for each Backbone VLAN identifier (B-VID) for the spanning trees rooted on that root node and use the failed connection. A filtering database in each node is populated for edge node pairs having a common service identifier, and unicast and multicast data are forwarded between the edge node pairs according to the filtering database via the SPF trees using a hybrid multicast addressing.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2012Date of Patent: September 30, 2014Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (Publ)Inventor: David Ian Allan

Patent number: 8824386Abstract: A method and system is disclosed for grouping the multiple stations connected to an access point (AP). The system and method comprise sending a sounding packet to a plurality of stations, wherein the stations may be all or part of the stations that are located within the range of the AP. The stations that receive the sounding packets respond to the AP, and the AP determines the channel state information (CSI) from the responses. According to the CSI, the AP divides the multiple stations into several groups. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a confirmation step is performed to each group of stations, respectively. The AP sends a second sounding packet to each group of stations, and verifies the CSI between each station group by group. Therefore, the method and system provides for monitoring the validation of each group by periodically sending sounding packets to each group.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 2011Date of Patent: September 2, 2014Assignee: Mediatek Inc.Inventors: Thomas E.
