  • Patent number: 5195878
Abstract: A liquid pump is disclosed having a center block containing inlets and outlets for liquid to be pumped and air to operate the pump with associated valves for liquid and air. A pair of opposed cylinders are provided on opposite sides of the center block and each containing a collapsible bellows connected to a sleeve forming a piston with the liquid being pumped in the chamber within the bellows. Push rodes extend from one piston to the other so that the piston pumping liquid out pushes the other piston to fill with liquid. The bellows have conbolutions of selectively varying wall thickness, and tapered single or dual compression seals are provided where the bellows are joined to the center block. An inflow conical valve and an outflow shuttle valve are provided for each cylinder, and vent tubes are provided to cool the bellows and to actuate the air valve at the end of the piston stroke. • Patent number: 5192198
Abstract: A diaphragm pump with a flat diaphragm which is held between the face surface of a pump head and the corresponding face surface of a hydraulic block is improved in that the annular clamping region has an angling step such that the clamped-in diaphragm is bent in its outer annular border region. In this way, a sealed tightness is achieved over long time periods, as well as inducing a uniform diaphragm tension which effects performance of the pump advantageously. Inventive valve designs are provided which allow removal for cleaning from outside the assembled pump and also allows manual opening of the valves for unclogging. An efficient design is provided for a pump head.

  • Patent number: 5190449
Abstract: A material-feeding container is disclosed for two-cylinder thick-matter pumps having feeding cylinders that open into the container. Inside the container is arranged a switchable guide-tube linked to the feeding line and alternatively movable between the openings of the feeding cylinders. A cleaning and servicing opening that can be closed with a cap provided with an agitator is arranged in each side wall. When the closing cap hinged on the material-feeding container is opened, the agitator pivots out of the container through the servicing opening, making the switchable guide-tube and its wearing parts freely accessible from the outside.

  • Patent number: 5182977
Abstract: An hydraulic centrifugal piston motor having mulitple piston circumferentially disposed at right angle to shaft axis, having a rotational power moment that occurs twice each revolution for each cylinder. The power stroke for each cylinder would occur for a duration of 90 degrees twice during each 360 degree operating cycle. Hydraulic input is applied to opposing pairs of cylinders and overlap of successive power strokes provide rotational balance and cancels net reaction forces applied to the bearings. Another feature of the motor would be the particular design of the power transfer device. The thrust of the power transfer device is applied axially to the drive shaft providing a smooth transfer between the hydraulic input power and the mechanical output power.

  • Patent number: 5180292
Abstract: A radial compressor for a vehicle air conditioning system includes a cylinder block having an array of radially arranged cylinders. Each cylinder defines a piston receiving bore that is closed by a discharge valve assembly. A piston assembly is received for reciprocation in each bore by a drive assembly that is operatively connected to the engine of the vehicle. The compressor also includes an annular discharge chamber defined between the periphery of the cylinder block and an outer cylindrical shell. Dams extend into the discharge chamber adjacent the side of the bores closest to a single discharge port; that is downstream of the bores. The dams act as baffles to reflect incident pressure waves to reduce gas pulsations, vibrations and noise.

  • Patent number: 5176066
Abstract: An axial piston pump apparatus includes a rotary cylinder barrel with plural cylinder bores in each of which a slidable piston is arranged. Each piston is rotatably held at one end with a piston support synchronously rotatable with the cylinder barrel. The piston support rotates in a plane inclined to the cylinder barrel, while each piston reciprocally moves in the corresponding cylinder bore to perform suction/discharging of a fluid. Two of the pistons come into surface contact with the corresponding cylinder bores; and the end of these pistons are held respectively in the piston support for radial movement to serve as drive pins for transmitting torque between the cylinder barrel and the piston support. During operation of the pump apparatus, the one end of each drive piston radially moves in accordance with rotation of the piston support, thereby preventing the drive pistons from inclining to the corresponding cylinder bores and appropriately maintaining surface contact between them.

  • Patent number: 5174724
Abstract: Disclosed is a two cylinder water well pumping system which uses the wind as a primary driving force with an alternate electric motor drive for use when the wind force is not adequate. The wind drives a square wheel turbine which in turn drives a swash plate which provides a cam surface which then drives a semaphore assembly directly or indirectly connected to sucker cables in turn connected to two pistons carried, respectively, in two cylinder sleeves. The inclined angle of the swash plate alternately drives the pistons to pump water from a well into a storage tank also serving as a mainmast supporting said turbine. In an alterenative embodiment, an electric motor is connected to drive an osillatable bar on a mechancial relay. The oscillatable bar is connected by cables to the semaphore assembly, and may be disconnected from the semaphore assembly by a solenoid. In this embodiment, the sucker cables are connected to the rockable bar in the mechanical relay rather than to the semaphore assembly.

  • Patent number: 5174731
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for control of the movement of a control piston an air control valve for a compressed air-operated double diaphragm pump, wherein the control piston is moved between the end positions in a control cylinder having inlet bores and outlet bores for the compressed air. The control piston is adjusted by a control medium. The method includes initially maintaining the control piston in an end position by a holding device against the pressure of the control medium for a predetermined period of time or until a counterpressure reaches a predetermined pressure level. Subsequently, the control piston is moved with a pushing force which is always greater than the maximum frictional forces. The holding device operates independently of the movement of the pump diaphragm, preferably using elastically, magnetically, or electromagnetically operating structural elements. The control cylinder includes separate connections for a control medium for moving the control piston.

  • Patent number: 5174727
Abstract: A slant plate type compressor including a compressor housing having a cylinder block is disclosed. A plurality of cylinders are formed around the periphery of the cylinder block and a piston is slidably fitted within each of the cylinders and is reciprocated by a drive mechanism. A crank chamber is formed between the cylinder block and a front end plate of the compressor housing. The drive mechanism includes a drive shaft rotatably supported in the compressor housing, a rotor coupled to the drive shaft and rotatable therewith, and a coupling mechanism for drivingly coupling the rotor to the pistons such that they rotary motion of the rotor is converted into reciprocating motion of the pistons. The coupling mechanism includes a plate having a surface disposed at a slant angle relative to the drive shaft. The slant angle changes in response to a change in pressure in the crank chamber to change the capacity of the compressor.
