  • Patent number: 5173032
Abstract: In a non-clutch compressor, by controlling a differential pressure between a crank chamber accommodating an oscillating plate therein and a cylinder chamber in a suction stroke, an incline angle of the oscillating plate is sequentially changed so that a maximum stroke of a piston is changeable. The compressor includes a passage opening and closing device arranged at an inlet section of one of a suction pipe connecting with a suction chamber of the compressor and the suction chamber, and a pressure control valve arranged between a discharge chamber and the crank chamber, the valve opening in a case where pressure in the suction chamber is less than a set value. In the compressor, a cross-sectional area (A) of a passage of a discharge hole for connecting the crank chamber with the suction chamber is expressed by an equation: 0.5<(A)<1.8 mm.sup.2.

  • Patent number: 5171130
Abstract: An oil cooled compressor includes a compressor body having a low pressure suction passage and a high pressure discharge passage. An oil tank is mounted to the discharge passage such that oil and drain water separated from a compressed gas in the discharge passage collect in the oil tank with water at a lowermost part of the oil tank. A drain water passage separate from a compressed gas discharge passage and an oil discharge passage, connects the lowermost part of the oil tank with a portion of the compressor body which is substantially at the low pressure. Drain water is thereby evaporated from the oil tank and returned to the compressor body.

  • Patent number: 5168707
Abstract: An internal combustion engine with a dual turbocharger system includes an engine, a first turbocharger and a second turbocharger arranged in parallel with each other, an intake switching valve located downstream of a compressor of the second turbocharger, and an exhaust switching valve located downstream of a turbine of the second turbocharger. At large intake air quantities, both turbochargers are operated, while at small to medium intake air quantities only the first turbocharger is operated. At "one-turbocharger-operation", when the engine load is low, the intake switching valve is opened, while the exhaust switching valve is maintained closed. Thus, at small to medium intake air quantities and low engine loads, the intake flow can be introduced through both the compressor of the first turbocharger and the compressor of the second turbocharger. As a result, flow resistance is decreased and acceleration response from low engine loads is improved.

  • Patent number: 5155998
Abstract: An automotive engine has a turbocharger including a turbine, a compressor driven by the turbine, and a wastegate valve provided in a bypass around the turbine, and an actuator for operating the wastegate valve so as to prevent intake pressure from becoming extremely high. The system has an intake pressure sensor for detecting the intake pressure and a throttle position sensor for detecting a throttle position. A basic control value is determined in accordance with driving conditions of the engine, and a feedback control value is calculated in accordance with the difference between the intake pressure detected by the intake pressure sensor and a limit value. When a peak of the intake pressure is detected in the acceleration state of the engine, the basic control value and the feedback control value are combined, and the actuator is driven in accordance with the combined control value.
