  • Patent number: 4897996
Abstract: In a system for varying the output flow from a constant rate feed pump with low losses by chopping the said output flow into one flow fraction supplied to the load as a power flow and into another flow fraction returned as a pressureless flow, the loads are aperiodically supplied with proportionated amounts of fluid by chopping, the respective amounts of fluid and the chop frequency being inherently controlled in way dependent on the instantaneous requirement of the load in the system. The system for performing the method has a housing with a number of pressure spaces arranged to be acted upon by different flows and with one or more pressureless spaces, a piston with a piston rod arranged in a piston space, a compression spring preferably arranged in a hole in said piston rod and adapted to act against the sum of the hydraulic forces acting on the piston and spool. The method is applicable to complex hydraulic systems and more especially to hydrostatic drives.

  • Patent number: 4898080
Abstract: Disclosed is a fluid powered linear slide employing either a rodless or rod-type cylinder. The slide includes a base which has a movable carriage mounted thereon which moves reciprocably in response to pressurized fluid being fed to the cylinder. In the embodiment employing a rod-type cylinder, a pair of tubular rods are mounted on the base in a fixed position and attached to a piston stationarily mounted inside the cylinder which is movably mounted and attached to the carriage. In the other embodiment, the carriage is mounted on a bracket which is attached to the rodless cylinder carried in the housing for the cylinder. The base has linear guideways therein, each guideway carrying one or more stop members which are manually adjustable and electrically or fluidly actuated.

  • Patent number: 4898082
Abstract: A plastic pneumatic cylinder has a cylinder housing, a piston within the housing, and a rod on which the piston is mounted. The cylinder is molded of a plastic synthetic resin and has a cylindrical bore of a predetermined diameter. The piston is molded in one piece from plastic synthetic resin, such as Delrin, in the form of a generally cylindrical body and a generally cylindrical sealing lip surronding and spaced radially from the body to seal slidably against the bore. The lip is flared out somewhat to have an edge that is of a greater diameter than the bore. The piston can be formed in single-acting or double-acting configurations. A conical return spring can be employed.

  • Patent number: 4898074
Abstract: In a servo-valve arrangement, a control piston is displaced as a function of steering forces to be applied which control piston in its turn controls throttling places in such a manner that a piston-cylinder aggregate is acted upon with a pressure difference and produces a force assisting the steering movement. A throttling section connected in parallel with the piston cylinder aggregate includes throttling places controlled by external parameters as well as by the system pressure and makes it possible to act upon the end faces of the control piston with a pressure difference in order to permit a force opposing the respective displacement of the control piston to act on the control piston. As a result thereof, an undesired overcontrol of the servo-valve arrangement, respectively, of the steering system controlled thereby is avoided.

  • Patent number: 4896870
Abstract: To permit storage of folded products, an elongated storage strip of finite length includes carriers for the folded products, the folded products being placed in predetermined position against the strip such that the sheets engage with a surface facing the strip element. The strip element, at the same time, can function as a transport element, to receive the folded sheets therefor, and transport them to a storage position where, for example, the elongated element is rolled into a roll (FIG. 1) or where the elongated element can be placed in a rack, or suspended, with the folded product hanging thereon (FIGS. 18, 19). The strip element is formed with carriers which have hook ends, engageable beneath the fold of the folded elements, upon flexing of the folded products and/or the carriers, or pivoting of carrier fingers engageable behind the backs of the folded products (6).

  • Patent number: 4895491
Abstract: A fan blade protection system (100) is provided for substantially preventing erosion by particulate impingement on the fan blade. Fan blade protection system (100) includes an outer erosion resistant layer (110) laminately bonded to an elastomeric energy dissipative layer (120). The laminate structure of fan blade protection system (100) is bonded to a portion (12) of fan blade (10). The outer erosion resistant layer (110) is formed of a material having a high yield strength such that it elastically deforms on impact by high velocity particulates. The energy transferred to the outer erosion resistant layer (110) is absorbed and distributed by the elastomeric energy dissipative layer (120), minimizing the force transmitted to the surface of the fan blade.
