  • Patent number: 7738604
Abstract: Discriminating a modulation type based upon a predetermined portion of symbols for a received encoded signal. While receiving the encoded signal, at least a first and a second cumulative soft metrics are generated using the plurality of symbols over a predetermined portion of the received encoded signal. The first cumulative soft metric is compared with the second cumulative soft metric to generate or provide a discriminated modulation type. With the discriminated modulation type, the signal field is decoded, allowing for decoding of the accompanying data payload with the encoded signal.

  • Patent number: 7738383
Abstract: In one embodiment, an endpoint sends messages containing Simple Traversal of User Datagram Protocol (UDP) Through Network Address Translators (NATs) (STUN) requests to traceroute a path to the remote endpoint. The traceroute may be completed through security devices such as NATs and firewalls. Receipt of a STUN response from the remote endpoint signals that one of the traceroute packets reached the remote endpoint whereas the other traceroute packets have elicited error responses from intermediary, on-path routers, allowing these routers to be identified.

  • Patent number: 7738382
Abstract: A hierarchical multi-rate multi-precedence policer is disclosed. The policer discards packets based on assigned precedence levels. When traffic exceeds an available service rate, the policer drops packets of lower precedence levels to make room for packets of higher precedence levels. In certain implementations, the policer also guarantees bandwidth to each level, thus preventing complete loss of lower precedence traffic when there is a large amount of higher precedence traffic.

  • Patent number: 7733919
Abstract: Method and apparatus for processing transport stream packets received from a network for distribution to user terminals is described. In one embodiment, a pair of clock reference packets in the transport stream packets is identified. The pair of clock reference packets includes a first clock reference packet having an output time stamp and a second clock reference packet. A difference between a time value of the second clock reference packet and a time value of the first clock reference packet is computed. An output time stamp for the second clock reference packet is calculated in response to the output time stamp of the first clock reference packet and the difference.

  • Patent number: 7729377
Abstract: A method for efficiently scheduling virtual resource blocks to physical resource blocks is disclosed. In a wireless mobile communication system that supports a resource block group (RBG) allocation scheme, for distributed mapping of consecutively allocated virtual resource blocks to physical resource blocks, there is proposed a mapping method capable of increasing the number of distributed virtual resource blocks to a maximum while satisfying gap limitations, when the length of the physical resource blocks is different from the length of the distributed virtual resource blocks. Also, the number of distributed virtual resource blocks and the structure of an interleaver are limited for efficient scheduling.

  • Patent number: 7724741
Abstract: When a command packet for an image forming apparatus is received, the image forming apparatus extracts information for specifying a source from the received packet, specifies the user who sends the command from the information, and decides the presence of the right to execute the command. When the user has the right, the command is received. When the user does not have the right, the command is not received. Thereby, an unintentional access from an outsider is rejected so that confidential information can be prevented from leaking.

  • Patent number: 7719978
Abstract: The invention is concerned with the transmission of streaming scalable data, particularly video data, through lossy communication channels, for applications in which limited retransmission is possible, and the associated reception and decoding of transmitted data. The PET (Priority Encoding Transmission) framework is used and the invention exploits both unequal error protection and limited retransmission. Each element in the scalable representation of each frame can be transmitted in one or both of two transmission slots, depending on the availability of the data received from the first of the two transmission slots. An optimization algorithm determines the level of protection which should be assigned to each element in each slot, subject to transmission bandwidth constraints.

  • Patent number: 7720006
Abstract: A system for determining reachablity of a neighboring node from a node. A packet is received over a network by node. The packet has a destination address of a node other than the receiving node. The node reads a source address from the packet. The node then determines whether the source address is for a neighboring node in which the node has an interest. The node then determines whether the packet indicates a forward link from the node to the neighboring node. Reachablity information for the neighboring node is then stored in a memory responsive to a determination of the forward link.

  • Patent number: 7715326
Abstract: A system and method for preventing unauthorized access to a website's sensitive information in which a website web server is located on a public network with a public IP address and known port number, but only performs a listening function. The responding function is located on a separate device on a private network with a private and dynamic IP address and having a randomly assigned port number. The responder has no listening sockets (open ports expecting to receive from client application) and therefore does not listen to the public network, and therefore is not accessible to unauthorized access, much in the way that a private user's PC is not accessible to unauthorized access. The web server having the listening function does not initiate connection with the device having the responding function because its private IP address is unreachable from the public network and unknown, even to the web server, and by virtue of the fact that there are no listening sockets to accept any requests.
