  • Patent number: 7835292
Abstract: Aspects of the invention include determining or choosing any usable media pair from all existing media pairs of a first device. Any channel may be selected from all existing channels and the selected channel is chosen so that it is different from a general channel assignment corresponding to the determined usable media pair. The selected channel may be assigned to the media pair. A second device may be notified of the assigned channel which corresponds to the media pair chosen from all the media pairs. The second device may cross-connect a corresponding equivalent channel and media pair. The first and second device may be adapted to negotiate the assignment of the selected channel to any one of the media pairs. Alternatively, a particular channel and media pair assignment may be selected from a plurality of predetermined channel and media pair assignments and utilized by the first and second device.

  • Patent number: 7835367
Abstract: In a network connection method for interconnecting a virtual LAN distributed over plural sites via a network formed by plural layer 2 switches, a layer 2 switch monitors a first virtual LAN configuring frame sent from a site in the plural sites for configuring the virtual LAN, a network virtual LAN identifier is assigned based on the monitored first virtual LAN configuring frame, and the layer 2 switch generates a second virtual LAN configuring frame based on the assigned network virtual LAN identifier, and transmits the second virtual LAN configuring frame to the plural layer 2 switches in the network so as to establish the virtual LAN distributed over the plural sites. Accordingly, configuration and operation of a virtual LAN in a network of the layer 2 switches can be performed efficiently according to the virtual LAN tag of the subscriber.

  • Patent number: 7835271
Abstract: Improved p-cycle restoration techniques using a signaling protocol are disclosed. For example, a technique for use in at least one node of a data communication network for recovering from a failure, wherein the data communication network includes multiple nodes and multiple links for connecting the multiple nodes, comprises the following steps/operations. Notification of the failure is obtained at the at least one node. A determination is made whether the failure is a single link failure or one of a node failure and a multiple link failure. A pre-configured protection cycle (p-cycle) plan is implemented when the failure is a single link failure but not when the failure is one of a node failure and a multiple link failure, such that two independent paths in the network are not connected when implementing the pre-configured protection cycle plan.

  • Patent number: 7826361
Abstract: The block #1 capsules a user IP layer by a UDP/IPv6, as well as detecting a destination IP address and specifying a QoS class from a DSCP embedded in a TOS field of an IP header of the user IP layer to transfer data to the block #2 through a UDP port correlated to a corresponding link. The blocks #2 and #3 execute processing of protocols divided into functional blocks with respect to a payload part of a UDP packet obtained from each UDP port to transfer the data to its subsequent block through a UDP port correlated to a corresponding link. The block #4 embeds, into a TOS field of an IP header of an IP packet obtained from each link, a DSCP value of a QoS class correlated to the link.
