Abstract: A system may provide a toolbar in a browser at a client, where the toolbar permits user selection from multiple different services for sharing document content. The system may receive a selection of a first one of the multiple different services from a user via the toolbar and may receive a selection of content of a first document browsed by the user. The system may post the selected content in a second document associated with the first one of the multiple different services.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for enhanced browsing. The apparatus includes a user interface for presenting an enhanced browsing window of content identified by a link in a page displayed by a browser. The apparatus may include a prefetcher for fetching or prefetching the content and a cache for storing the window. The apparatus may also include an ad interface for retrieving advertisements for display with the content. When a first page is displayed in the browser, content identified by a link to a second page is automatically fetched and an enhanced browsing window, which may initially be invisible, is built. When a user mouses-over a status indicator associated with the link, the window is automatically displayed and the user can navigate the displayed content. The status indicator may change appearance to indicate a status of the prefetching (e.g., initiated, completed, success, failure, communication error).

Abstract: An image display system includes user configurable viewports for the review and analysis of image data. The user configurable viewports include a review viewport and an analysis viewport. The review viewport displays in a review mode, a plurality of image views of the image data. The analysis viewport displays in an analysis mode, a plurality of image views of the image data. The review viewport and the analysis viewport may be configured for simultaneous display of related image data.

Abstract: A user interface generation apparatus is provided, the apparatus being capable of switching over between a compound user interface and a stand-alone user interface by simple operations. When an input unit receives a second input while a control unit controls to display a compound user interface object group, the control unit controls to display a stand-alone user interface object group of a user interface displayed correspondingly to a reception position of the second input in the compound user interface object group.

Abstract: According to one general aspect, a method for manipulating tabs within a graphical user interface may comprise associating a tab with a window in a superior-subordinate hierarchal relationship, wherein the tab is the subordinate in the relationship, and wherein the tab and window are graphical user interface elements. The method may also include registering the tab and the tab's association with the window with a window manager, wherein the window manager is configured to manage tabs and windows within a graphical user interface. The method may include receiving a command, from a user, to display an organized representation of one or more tabs registered with the window manager. The method may further include organizing the tabs registered with the window manager according to a predetermined organizational scheme. The method may include displaying the organized representation of the tabs to the user via a graphical display.

Abstract: A local computing device may use a remote computing device to host various resources on behalf of the local computing device. The local computing device may receive data related to a graphical window of the remotely hosted resource and generate a graphical window on the local desktop environment for the remotely hosted resource. The local computing device may also update a taskbar to include the remote hosted resource. Window previews may also be generated by the local computing device and the window previews may include snapshots or dynamic images of the graphical window for the remotely hosted resource. In some instances, the snapshots may be provided to the local computing device from the remote computing device.

Interface features are provided to enable hover, dwell, and clicking commands, for example, providing a variety of options to zoom in, or change configurations of the visualization in accordance with the users intentions or inferences about what they desire to see or inspect more closely. Beyond the use of decompositions into exploded views of the content of items typically viewed as singular documents, the methods can be applied to perform geometric transformations on visualizations of multiple windows and other resources based on content and activity to provide regularized visualizations of the multiple items.

Abstract: A method for unlocking a screen saver includes: when a screen is in a screen saver state, receiving a motion track input by a user on the screen; and when the motion track crosses boundaries of a first area and a second area of the screen at least two times, enabling the screen to exit the screen saver state. With the above technical solutions, characteristics of the motion track on the screen are detected, for example, the number of times of crossing the boundaries of the first area and second area of the screen; therefore, the screen saver can be unlocked based on the flexibly input motion track, so that the screen saver can be unlocked more flexibly.

Abstract: In a graphical user interface environment, a request to save a file may result in a display of a location or view in which the file is to be saved, and may include a preview indicia representing the to-be-saved file. The user may interact with the preview indicia to edit the new file's metadata by repositioning the indicia in a different view, and/or the system may automatically update the preview indicia's location in response to the user editing displayed metadata properties for the new file. The preview indicia may have a distinct appearance, and may persist to show the user how the new file can be located after the save process is performed.

Abstract: In menu structure, information is separately displayed on a menu item-by-menu item basis. Therefore, the adoption of menu structure involves inconvenience. (For example, pieces of information under different menu items cannot be viewed at the same time.) A portable information communication terminal eliminates this inconvenience. Information is configured in list structure wherein items (A1, . . . , A5, B1, . . . , B4, B5, B6, C1, . . . , C5, D1, . . . (A to D represent groups.)) are arranged in succession. List information (B5 to C5) which is within a predetermined range (the second precedent line through the fourth subsequent line) from a specific item C1 of a predetermined serial number (top number) in a selected group (group C) is displayed. Since the top item in group C is the specific item, items corresponding to group B are also displayed. Thus, items corresponding to different groups (group B and group C) can be displayed at the same time.

Abstract: A keyboard input method and an assistant system thereof are provided. In the present method, first, an assistant on-screen keyboard program is launched and an input signal is received. Then, if it is determined that the input signal represents an input character, whether the input character leads to an input error is determined according to an input method of an electronic device. If the input character leads to the input error, a keyboard position of the key corresponding to the input character is obtained, and a partial area of an assistant on-screen keyboard is displayed according to the position, wherein the partial area includes the key corresponding to the input character.

Abstract: In one example, a computing device executes a plurality of application processes, each of which has an associated graphical user interface element. The computing device renders a common graphical user interface on a presence-sensitive screen. The common graphical user interface includes a currently rendered graphical user interface element associated with a currently selected application process from among the plurality of application processes; a tab row comprising a plurality of tabs, wherein each of the graphical user interface elements corresponds to one of the plurality of tabs; and a slide bar positioned proximate to the tab row. The computing device renders a first tab in the tab row with a larger size than other graphical tabs in the plurality of tabs responsive to receipt by the presence-sensitive screen of a gesture input associated with a region of the slide bar that is closest to the first tab.

Abstract: Embodiments related to the manipulation of objects on a multi-touch graphical user interface are disclosed. For example, in one disclosed embodiment, a method of operating a multi-touch graphical user interface on a computing device comprises displaying a group of objects on the graphical user interface in a group representation, receiving a first multi-touch input in which a first number of touches associated with the group representation are moved on the graphical user interface, and in response to the first multi-touch input, changing a scale of the objects in the group representation. The method further comprises receiving a second multi-touch input in which a second number of touches associated with the group representation are moved on the graphical user interface, and in response to the second multi-touch input, changing an organization of the objects in the group representation on the graphical user interface.

Abstract: Systems and methods are presented for simultaneously displaying a plurality of timeline markers within a timeline marker region of an interface for a video application. The timeline marker region may include multiple display tracks within which numerous timeline markers may be positioned for simultaneous display. At a given instant, each timeline marker may appear in a particular one of the multiple display tracks, and the entire collection of timeline markers being simultaneously displayed at that instant may be arranged so that all of the timeline markers appear separately from each other. Pairs of timeline markers which coincide with non-overlapping portions of the timeline may be placed in the same display track, while timeline markers that coincide with overlapping portions of the timeline may be put into separate display tracks, thus guaranteeing that all the timeline markers appear separately from each other.

Abstract: A system for providing a graphical interface to a user includes a server platform and an operating system and application software running thereon. The system includes a client device capable of running a standard web browser that accesses the software application on the server platform for displaying information to the user in a display area on the client device. The web browser displays the information without requiring additional software to be installed, downloaded or run on the client device, and without requiring a scripting language to be enabled in the web browser on the client. The application software facilitates user manipulation of unstructured data in the display area for detailed inspection, and facilitates the user selectively causing to display annotations within the display area. The application software facilitates the user inserting annotations within the display area, thereby causing an action to occur in this system or an external system.

Abstract: Control planes of virtual resource providers may be customized in a secure, stable and efficient manner with virtual control planes. Control planes may be modularized. Control plane modules may be supplied with data from standardized sensors, and required to generate standardized resource configuration requests responsive to solicitations with specified response latencies. Custom control plane modules may be selected to replace or complement default control plane modules. Financial and computational costs associated with control plane modules may be tracked. Competing resource configurations may be mediated by a control plane supervisor. Such mediation may be based on control plane module reputation scores. Reputation scores may be based on customer feedback ratings and/or measured performance with respect to module goals. Mediated configuration parameter values may be based on a combination of competing configuration parameter values weighted according to reputation.

Abstract: In a method for computer-aided transfer of data from a document application into a data application having a set of data fields, a document is displayed in the document application opened on a computer with a display device, and wherein from the document data are to be transferred into the data application also opened on the computer. A name of a data field into which data are to be transferred is displayed on the display device. Via identification of a corresponding data value in the document on the display device, a character string representing the data value is automatically read out from the document and entered into the data field corresponding to the data field name in the data application via actuation of a predetermined button.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus provide for a region brander configured to uniformly apply branding (i.e graphical modifications) upon both content data and application data to effectuate a seamless branding of an entire region of a graphical user interface (GUI). The region brander defines a hierarchy relationship between content and a branding extension (i.e. embedded modification information) with respect to a region in a Graphical User Interface (GUI). The region brander further defines a master region in the GUI to apply the hierarchy relationship to display the content and the branding extension in the master region. A slave region in the GUI can also be defined to apply the hierarchy relationship in order to: (i) display, in the slave region, the branding extensions related to content selected in the master region, and (ii) display episodic content related to content selected in the master region.
