A visual symbol may be generated based at least upon the user histogram for each category, each visual symbol comprising a visual characteristic for associating the visual symbol to the category and a graphical dimension of the visual symbol, wherein the graphical dimension correlates with the respective degree of interest associated with the category. Each visual symbol may be appended to one another to form a graphic identifier and a user interface encoded for rendering, where the user interface comprises the graphic identifier.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided to allow users to browse services, content items, or the like using a personalized user interface. Thus, for example, users can browse content offerings on the second display in a language and font set that are personalized to themselves. Users may also browse offerings that match a parental ratings setting, and use a background image and layout of their choice. The second displays generally do not require additional investment by the user because the same make use of a device, e.g., a smartphone, laptop computer, tablet computer, an internet appliance, a desktop computer, etc., which most users would already have in their possession. Such a second display is a significant complement to an IPTV because of the second display's strength in supported languages and character font sets, flexible user interface, data entry, processing power, and user experience in content management.

Abstract: An example method includes displaying, at a presence-sensitive device, a virtual keyboard, receiving an indication of input entered at a presence-sensitive device indicating a plurality of characters, determining a sequence of at least three character strings in the plurality such that the sequence does not include any space characters, modifying the characters by inserting at least two space characters to demarcate the at least three character strings, and determining at least two suggested character strings based on first, second, and third character strings of the sequence. The method further includes outputting, for display at the presence-sensitive device and at a text-suggestion area of the GUI, the at least two suggested character strings, receiving a selection that indicates a selected character string of the at least two suggested character strings, and outputting, for display at the presence-sensitive device and at the text-entry area of the GUI, the selected character string.

Abstract: A method and device for enhancing scrolling operations in a display of a device is disclosed. The method includes detecting a scrolling operation on a list of objects in a linear direction. During the scrolling operation, it is determined whether the list of objects is reaching an end and at least one object at the end of the list of objects is extended in the linear direction in response to reaching the end of the list of objects. Further, the method includes determining that the object(s) is reaching a peak length of extension in the linear direction and retracting the object(s) in a reverse linear direction in response to reaching the peak length or in response to detecting that the scrolling operation is terminated.

Abstract: An electronic whiteboard may be used alone or in a virtual environment. The electronic whiteboard has a palate of tools that enable users to quickly draw shapes on the whiteboard. Rather than using perfectly drawn shapes, however, the palate renders shapes that are not quite perfect—rectangles that are not quite square, lines that are not quite straight—to prevent users from focusing on getting the drawings perfect. This lends an informal feeling to the resulting drawings to allow the drawings to more closely simulate how drawings would appear on a traditional whiteboard. Similarly, text is rendered using a scripted font rather than type font to make words on the whiteboard appear to be hand-written. The electronic whiteboard enables users to add notes and to vote on objects. Automatic vote counting and note management is provided. Use of the whiteboard may be recorded to enable sessions to be replayed and snapshots to be obtained.

Abstract: An applet may be downloaded or provided to a web browser when a user visits a site in order to protect data input by the user from being captured by malicious software, such as key loggers. The applet may present a user input field in the web browser and may generate a random sequence of low-level key stroke or mouse click events within the input field when the user enters information, such as a username and/or password. A listening key logger will receive a large amount of random data, whereas the applet will receive and buffer the actual user data that may be communicated to a remote site access by the user.

One embodiment is a method performed in a multimedia playback system for adaptively modifying a user interface. The method comprises receiving, by the multimedia playback system, multimedia content and displaying the multimedia content. The method further comprises generating, by a user interface generator, one or more controls displayed in conjunction with the multimedia content, identifying, by an object detector, a target object in a field of view of a video capture device coupled to the multimedia playback system, and predicting, by a selection predictor, a next selection of one of the one or more controls based on a path defined by the target object. The method further comprises displaying, by the user interface generator, a virtual pointer representing the target object in a vicinity of the predicted next selection of the one or more controls.

Abstract: Methods for managing an interactive system, such as a web site, are disclosed. An interactive system can comprise a plurality of states, and a first structure of the interactive system can be defined by transitional links between those states. Session data can represent user navigation through the states, and a predetermined set of parameters for session data can be defined by the first structure of the interactive system. The method can include accessing a representation of the first structure of the interactive system, and analyzing the session data based on the predetermined set of parameters. A second structure for the interactive system can be determined when the first set of parameters are not met, such that as compared to the first structure, the second structure adds or removes a transitional link directly between the a first state of the interactive system and a second state of the interactive system.
