Abstract: In one aspect, a system for presenting a share box with content information in response to an endorsement includes an endorsement sharing module that is responsive to user input and creates a sharing box having content derived from the user context and input request. The endorsement sharing module receives a user request to share information. In response, this endorsement sharing module determines the context of the user, retrieves content based on the context, filters the content based on publisher information, personalizes the share box content, and adds the content to a share box. The endorsement sharing module also adds one or more actions to the share box after which the share box is provided for display to the user.

Abstract: A device management system includes a meeting support system that is configured to generate and transmit a plurality of electronic meeting invitations to a plurality of mobile wireless devices that correspond to a plurality of meeting participants and receive responses indicating whether the plurality of participants will attend the electronic meeting. The device management system receives identification data that identifies one or more documents or information that will be made available to the plurality of participants. The meeting support system determines whether the plurality of participants is authorized to access the one or more electronic documents or information. If any of the participants are not authorized to access any of the electronic documents or information, the meeting support system notifies the meeting organizer. The device management system may also include a meeting session management system that is configured to share information among the plurality of mobile wireless devices.

Abstract: A system and method for facilitating adjusting a displayed representation of a visualization. An example method includes employing a touch-sensitive display to present a user interface display screen depicting a first visualization; and providing a first user option to apply touch input to a region of the user interface display screen coinciding with a portion of the first visualization to facilitate affecting an arrangement of data displayed via the first visualization, wherein the touch input includes a multi-touch gesture. In a more specific embodiment, the touch gesture includes a rotation gesture, and the method further includes displaying a visual indication of a change, e.g., a pivot operation, to be applied to a second visualization as a user performs the rotation gesture, and updating the second visualization as a user continues perform the rotation gesture. The first visualization is updated based on the second visualization upon completion of the rotation gesture.

Abstract: A computer-implemented touch screen call interface includes announcing an incoming telephone call on a mobile device touch screen display, connecting to the call and displaying a slidable panel on the display while locking the display from inputs other than unlocking inputs, receiving a user selection moving the slidable panel away from a position that covers one or more selectable controls, and unlocking the display for selection of the selectable controls while the slidable panel stays in a position that leaves the selectable controls uncovered.

Abstract: A computer system includes a computer processor, an operating system operative in connection with the computer processor, and a display responsive to the operating system. The system also has a pointing device that includes a position sensor and a tactile actuator. A pointing device driver is responsive to the position sensor, and the tactile actuator is responsive to the pointing device driver. A general-purpose application is responsive to the pointing device driver and to the operating system and in communication with the display, and the pointing device driver is also responsive to the general purpose application. The system further includes a profile that maps region changes associated with material displayed on the screen to tactile signals to be sent to the tactile actuator.

Abstract: A method for enabling graphical representation of aggregated data is provided. The method includes accessing aggregated data retrieved from a plurality of on-line sources and receiving selection of a portion of the data through a graphical user interface. The method further includes identifying attributes associated with the portion of the data and generating a graphical representation of the portion of the data.

Abstract: An image obtaining unit obtains a three-dimensional image, which is formed by a plurality of tomographic images obtained by carrying out tomographic imaging of a subject, and a part information obtaining unit obtains information of a result of part recognition of the subject contained in the three-dimensional image. A menu specifying unit specifies, from a plurality of menus used to display the three-dimensional image, a menu depending on a part based on the information of the result of part recognition, and a display control unit displays the specified menu on a display unit.

Abstract: A communication device and method provide selective control of a level of buffering of at least one data stream. The communication device includes a jitter buffer (202), a jitter buffer control unit (204) and a user interface (206). An instruction received via an input to a user interface (206) indicates a jitter buffer strategy (510), such as enabling a jitter buffer or setting a size of a jitter buffer, based on the user input. The control unit (204) sets the buffer strategy based in the instruction, and a data stream transmitted via a packet-switched network is received (530) and buffered for play out based on the buffer strategy (540).

Abstract: Techniques for creating a mosaic using user-created content on a content sharing site. Embodiments of the invention may provide an interface on the content sharing site to allow users to create content. Embodiments may then determine a suitability value between the user-created content and portions of a mosaic, and insert the user-created content into a particular portion of the mosaic based on the determined suitability value for the particular portion.

Abstract: A GUI providing method and a GUI providing apparatus are provided. According to the GUI providing method, a GUI from among GUIs for an external apparatus connected to a video apparatus is determined and displayed. Accordingly, if there are many GUIs for an apparatus, a GUI most suitable for the current circumstance is automatically determined and provided to a user.

Abstract: A dual-screen user device and methods for revealing a combination of desktops on single and multiple screens are disclosed. Selected desktops and/or running applications are displayed on dual screen displays. Desktops and applications can be shifted between screens by user gestures, and/or moved off of the screens and therefore hidden. Hidden desktops and screens can be re-displayed by other gestures. The desktops and applications are arranged in a window stack that represents a logical order of the desktops and applications providing a user with an intuitive ability to manage multiple applications/desktops running simultaneously. User gestures rearrange the order of the applications and desktops in the window stack. One embodiment provides an annunciator display or window extending across both screens in a dual screen configuration of the device. The annunciator window provides alerts, notifications, and statuses of the device in an increased area thereby enhancing viewability of information in the window.

Abstract: A system and method for web browsing contemporaneously displays multiple web pages, advertisements, or other applications, preferably within a single window, for a user to view. In a preferred embodiment, a current web page, a past web page, a future web page, and/or an advertisement or other application are contemporaneously displayed in a single window. In this embodiment, the present invention tracks a past web page and renders it in a first panel, renders the current web page in a second panel, and identifies a hyperlink in the current web page to retrieve and render the future web page in a third panel. In other embodiments, a host provides a list of web pages that are to be displayed in the panels. In other embodiments, a user selects a list of web pages that are to be displayed in the panels. In other embodiments, hyperlinks are filtered and/or prioritized to determine which web pages are to be displayed in the panels.

Abstract: A device, which may have a touchscreen display, and methods for its operation are provided using a graphical user interface and an overlay user input interface such as a virtual keyboard. The graphical user interface may include one or more user interface elements displayed in a first region of the display that are actuatable to invoke a corresponding function. When the virtual keyboard is invoked for display in the same region, the underlying graphical user interface is redrawn with a further user interface element corresponding to at least one of the user interface elements previously displayed in the first region, so that the further user interface element is actuatable to invoke a command to carry out the corresponding function. In another embodiment, the virtual keyboard may be modified instead to provide an action key corresponding to a function related to an application executing on the device.

Abstract: An interface controller may control the way a function is presented for selection by a user interface in an electronic device. The interface controller may include a usage detection system configured to detect the way in which the electronic device is being or has been used. The interface controller may also include a presentation controller configured to automatically change the way in which the function is presented for selection by the user interface based on the way in which the usage detection system detects the electronic device is being or has been used.

Abstract: A method of facilitating navigation of a graphical user interface is presented. In the method, an image associated with the graphical user interface is generated for presentation to a user. The image includes a plurality of image elements, wherein the image elements collectively occupy less than the entirety of the image. An input indicating a location not coinciding with at least one of the image elements is received. One of the image elements is selected based upon the proximity of the location with the one of the image elements.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for presenting a plurality of shared calendars in a single electronic display frame or window where each of the plurality of shared calendars is displayed in a common view mode relative to other displayed shared calendars. Users may select one or more shared calendars to be displayed in the same display frame or window as their own calendar. Upon selection of a shared calendar to be displayed alongside a first calendar, an aggregate view object is called to control and coordinate all shared calendars selected for display in the common window or frame. The aggregate view object determines the view data object, including view mode (hourly, daily, weekly, monthly) and other calendar display settings of the first or active calendar displayed in the common view of shared calendars.

Abstract: A method, system and controller is provided for navigating a network of options on an interactive display. A navigation pane on a display is defined (1201) and a first set of options is displayed in the navigation pane as divided subregions which may be separated by lines (1202). The options corresponding to the subregions may be identified with text or other meaningful symbols or images. Subregion area may correspond to relative importance of each option. A selector is monitored for activation when a pointer is within one of the subregions (1203). If the selected option is a node the subregion associated with the selected option may be magnified in a zooming motion and the second set of options is displayed in the navigation pane (1204, 1206, 1207).

Abstract: Efficiently managing visual information by small form factor electronic devices having limited display resources using a persistent overlay is described. The persistent overlay can be formed of selected visual information from a first page and can remain viewable over subsequently displayed pages.

Abstract: A method is provided in which a message board server receives a message that is posted by a first user and transmits a link to another user of the message board. When the link is activated, a communications session is established between the user who activated the link and a telecommunications session recipient.
