  • Patent number: 7302269
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for radiolocation using time differences of arrival. The method includes receiving transmit timestamps from a set of wireless stations of a wireless network. Each station transmits at least once. The transmit timestamp uses a local timestamping clock to indicate when a station transmitted a packet. The method further includes receiving sets of timestamped captured samples from each station that receives one of the transmitted packets. The times of arrival of each packet at each station are determined from the received sets of timestamped captured samples, and, the relative positions of the stations are determined from the determined times of arrival and the received transmit timestamps. The transmitting by the stations is in a round robin manner one station after the other, and several round robins may be used to mutually calibrate local clocks. Also an apparatus for inclusion in a station of a wireless network.

  • Patent number: 7299053
Abstract: A portable communication equipment comprises a radio communication sections (13), (14) for transmitting and receiving a CDMA signal, a base band modem section (16) for modulating a speech signal into a CDMA signal and demodulating a CDMA signal into a speech signal, and a CPU (17) for controlling the transmission and reception of a CDMA signal. When the equipment fails in capturing a selected channel and falls in a condition when a system was lost, the CPU (17) retries to capture the selected channel. The CPU (17), when it fails in capturing the selected channel, selects another channel only when it tries to capture the selected channel for a predetermined number of times as well as it does not obtain an overhead message. With this arrangement, it is possible to capture an appropriate channel if an unsuitable channel is selected and the portable communication equipment falls into a condition when a system was lost.

  • Patent number: 7299030
Abstract: A system and method of charging for user traffic without including signaling costs in a wireless communication system is provided. In a system and method of charging a user equipment (UE) in a gateway node in a mobile communication system having a serving support node within a radio network connected to the UE and the gateway node for connecting the radio network to a home server in an external network, the gateway node acquires from the external network the address of a home server that provides a service requested by the UE, stores the home server address, clears charging information collected with respect to signaling generated prior to the allocation of the home server address, and re-collects charging information about the service that the UE receives.

  • Patent number: 7292863
Abstract: A method is disclosed that is capable of appropriately assigning radio resource even when a propagation quality changes. After receiving the required communication rate from the mobile station, the base station measures the maximum used radio resource, and multiplies the maximum used radio resource by a factor ?. Next, the base station subtracts the above result from the total radio resource and obtains the maximum assignable radio resource. Then, the base station calculates an admissible communication rate based on the maximum assignable radio resources. Then, if the required communication rate is less than or equal to the admissible communication rate, the base station admits the request.

  • Patent number: 7286809
Abstract: Noise impulses are suppressed in a signal processing circuit by gating an input signal. The gated signal is then smoothed upstream of demodulating the smoothed signal as viewed in a signal flow direction from a signal input to a processed signal output. The signal processing circuit system includes at least a signal gating section followed by a signal smoothing section followed by a demodulating section in that order and as viewed in the signal flow direction. Thus, smoothing takes place prior to demodulation.

  • Patent number: 7286511
Abstract: In a wireless local area network (WLAN), the present invention provides a system and method for identifying traffic suffering from bad link quality and dynamically adjusting channel access to restrict the effect of this bad link quality. The dynamic adjustment to channel access is accomplished by lowering or raising the limit on the number of packets that can be transmitted between an AP and the wireless station over the a link as determined by the link quality. The link quality is determined by tracking the number of successive packet transmission successes and errors.
