    Abstract: A mold for making articles that are interconnected by a lanyard, such as inflator parts. A mold base has a channel formed in it, and a first block is slidably mounted in that channel. A groove formed in the block defines the contour of a first article produced by the mold when plastic is injected into the groove and a mating groove formed in a mold cover that overlies the base. A stationary second block, also disposed in the channel, has a cavity formed in it that defines the contour of a second article. Opposite ends of the lanyard are positioned in the respective areas bounded by the grooves and cavity so that the opposite ends of the lanyard are embedded in the articles produced by the mold. The length of the interconnecting lanyard is adjusted by adjusting the position of the moveable block within the channel. The movable block may also be stationery.

Each contact forms a function with a respective conductor of the cable, and the integral housing part is molded with the assistance of a mold core under elevated temperature and pressure conditions so that each of the junctions is fully encapsulated by the molded body part to create a hermetically sealed junction zone which is free of air, moisture, oxygen, and other like deleterious contaminants, and which helps to prevent the contamination of the function when the cable termination assembly is utilized in a hostile environment.

The transport means is a transfer arm which grips the label strip and before the label is out off and, after it is cut off, carries it over the top edge of the mold cavity of the bottom tool while the latter is in its bottom, starting position, and lays it against one side wall of the mold cavity.

The kneading drum is concentrically enclosed by a compartmented drum adapted to be rotatingly driven in a peripheral direction and has kneading chambers open radially outwardly and radially inwardly towards the kneading drum. Furthermore, the compartmented drum has, looped around a portion of its periphery, in a belt contact zone, a kneading belt which presses the dough portions against the kneading drum and prevents them from falling out of the kneading chambers.The kneading belt can be driven by a positive drive which is independent of bearing forces between the kneading belt and the surface of the compartmented drum, whereby the kneading belt no substantial bearing forces on the belt contact zone of the compartmented drum.

    Abstract: A device for separating and closing a split mold that comprises a base, a stationary platen, and a movable platen extending upward from the base and oriented to oppose each other, electromagnets, a hydraulic cylinder, and a control panel. The movable platen is capable of movement toward and away from the stationary platen by the hydraulic cylinder. The stationary platen has the electromagnets mounted thereon and the movable platen has the electromagnets mounted thereon. In the use of the device, the mold is positioned upon the base such that the first half is positioned against the stationary platen. The movable platen is moved against the second half and the electromagnets are activated. The movable platen is then moved away from the stationary platen, and the mold halves are held against their respective platens by the attractive forces of the electromagnets. Mold halves are thus separated by the movement of the platen away from the stationary platen in activation of the electromagnets.

An electronic circuit compares the measured value with the preset value. Any discrepancy between the two undergoes resolution by varying the voltage applied to the variable-speed d.c. controlled vacuum pump. The resulting changes in the motor's speed brings the tank's vacuum to the desired magnitude. The continuous measurement of the vacuum and its feedback to the speed of the vacuum pump results in the maintenance of the desired vacuum within the sizing tank.
