  • Patent number: 11586390
Abstract: Initialization is performed based on the commands received at the command queue. To perform initialization, a bank touch count list that includes a list of banks being accessed by the commands and a bank touch count for each of the banks in the list is updated. The bank touch count identifies the number of commands accessing each of the banks. The bank touch count list is updated by assigning a bank priority rank to each of the banks based on their bank touch count, respectively. Once initialized, the commands in the command queue are scheduled by inserting each of the commands into priority queues based on the bank touch count list.

  • Patent number: 11586557
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for cache management in a memory subsystem are described. A device may determine to perform an eviction procedure for a bank of a volatile memory that operates as a cache for a non-volatile memory. The eviction procedure may save data from the bank of the volatile memory to the non-volatile memory. The device may determine an activity status for at least one buffer in a pool of buffers that are coupled with the volatile memory and the non-volatile memory. The device may select the at least one buffer in the pool of buffers for the eviction procedure for the bank of the volatile memory based at least in part on the activity status for that buffer.

  • Patent number: 11587624
Abstract: A memory device to perform a calibration of read voltages of a group of memory cells. For example, the memory device can measure signal and noise characteristics of a group of memory cells to determine an optimized read voltage of the group of memory cells and determine an amount of accumulated storage charge loss in the group of memory cells. Subsequently, the memory device can perform a read voltage calibration based on the determined amount of accumulated storage charge loss and a look up table.

  • Patent number: 11586545
Abstract: Memory pages of a local application program are prefetched from a memory of a remote host. A method of prefetching the memory pages from the remote memory includes detecting that a cache-line access made by a processor executing the local application program is an access to a cache line containing page table data of the local application program, identifying data pages that are referenced by the page table data, and fetching the identified data pages from the remote memory and storing the fetched data pages in a local memory.

  • Patent number: 11579792
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a memory system includes a non-volatile memory array with a plurality of memory cells. Each memory cell is a multilevel cell to which multibit data can be written. The non-volatile memory array includes a first storage region in which the multibit data of a first bit level is written and a second storage region in which data of a second bit level less than the first bit level is written. A memory controller is configured to move pieces of data from the first storage region to the second storage region based on the number of data read requests for the pieces of data received over a period of time or on external information received from a host device that sends read requests.

  • Patent number: 11580025
Abstract: Systems and methods for coordinated memory-side cache prefetching and dynamic interleaving configuration modification involve modifying one or both of the prefetch distance or the prefetch degree used by prefetcher modules of one or more memory-side caches by modifying interleaving configuration data following detection of an interleaving reconfiguration trigger condition indicative, for example, of low prefetch accuracy, low prefetch coverage, high prefetch lateness, or a combination of these. In response an interleaving reconfiguration trigger condition, a processor modifies the interleaving configuration data for the processing system based on the prefetch performance characteristics associated with the interleaving reconfiguration trigger condition. In some embodiments, the interleaving configuration data is modified by changing which physical memory address indices are used to determine the bits that define the channel identification number to which that physical memory address is to be mapped.

  • Patent number: 11580032
Abstract: A technique is provided for training a prediction apparatus. The apparatus has an input interface for receiving a sequence of training events indicative of program instructions, and identifier value generation circuitry for performing an identifier value generation function to generate, for a given training event received at the input interface, an identifier value for that given training event. The identifier value generation function is arranged such that the generated identifier value is dependent on at least one register referenced by a program instruction indicated by that given training event. Prediction storage is provided with a plurality of training entries, where each training entry is allocated an identifier value as generated by the identifier value generation function, and is used to maintain training data derived from training events having that allocated identifier value.

  • Patent number: 11567873
Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, method, and computer program product embodiments for utilizing an extended cache to access an object store efficiently. An embodiment operates by executing a database transaction, thereby causing pages to be written from a buffer cache to an extended cache and to an object store. The embodiment determines a transaction type of the database transaction. The transaction type can a read-only transaction or an update transaction. The embodiment determines a phase of the database transaction based on the determined transaction type. The phase can be an execution phase or a commit phase. The embodiment then applies a caching policy to the extended cache for the evicted pages based on the determined transaction type of the database transaction and the determined phase of the database transaction.

  • Patent number: 11556249
Abstract: Techniques for reducing write amplification in solid state storage are disclosed. A storage device includes single-level cell (SLC) and multi-level cell (MLCs) portions. A controller may allocate for storage in the SLC portions a sequential closed block pool for sequential data and a random closed block pool for random data. Responsive to certain conditions, the controller may relocate the sequential and random data from the respective sequential and random closed block pools to the MLC portions. The sequential data are relocated prior to the random data. Delaying relocation of random data reduces valid count at the relocation time, reducing write amplification and improving random reads.

  • Patent number: 11531485
Abstract: A throttling engine throttles access to a high latency hybrid memory. A request is received for partition mapping of a virtual address for an R/W memory page. An entry is added to a partition page table that maps a virtual address to a physical address and comprises access information that is R/W. A throttled flag is set in an entry of a partition page extension table. The throttle entry corresponds to the entry. The access information is saved in an original access part of the partition page extension table, and the access information is replaced with an R value. Upon application fault receipt, a throttling test is performed on an address of the application fault. If the throttling test is false, the fault is passed through to an operating system fault handler and the throttling fault stage is ended, otherwise, a delay is implemented for slowing access to the memory.
