  • Patent number: 8614956
Abstract: The position of wireless repeaters within a wireless communication network can affect the throughput and performance of the wireless communication network. A wireless repeater and/or an access point associated with the wireless communication network can be configured to determine the optimal position of the wireless repeater based on throughput achieved on communication links between the access point, the repeater, and/or the client stations. The throughput achieved on communication links between the access point, the repeater, and/or the client stations can be determined by exchanging training packets, receiving acknowledgement messages in response to the training packets, and subsequently analyzing the received acknowledgement messages. Furthermore, the throughput achieved on communication links between the access point, the repeater, and/or the client stations can also be analyzed to determine whether each of the client stations should associate with the access point or the wireless repeater.

  • Patent number: 8607618
Abstract: Determination of hydraulic properties such as porosity and permeability of soil is of paramount importance in hydrology and civil engineering. In order to achieve greater accuracy in determination of permeability of soil using falling head permeameter, the two important known constraints of human monitoring error in noting the falling water level between two selected levels and elapse time between these two levels had overcome through electronically sensing the levels between two selected points and activating the timer clock automatically by the pulses coming from senor. The precision in measurement of time lapse in 1/100th of a second enables greater accuracy in estimation of permeability. Provision of perforated Teflon disc above and below the soil core facilitates in application of water uniformly over the entire surface area of soil core at top and similar way permeated water leaving the soil core uniformly without any obstruction.

  • Patent number: 8527985
Abstract: A framework (referred to herein as Application Integration Architecture, or AIA) that formalizes and orchestrates activities in an SOA development lifecycle. In one set of embodiments, AIA can capture development-related information in a shared data store and cause the information to flow in an automated or semi-automated manner from one lifecycle phase to the next as the lifecycle progresses. This information flow can, in turn, facilitate automations at each lifecycle phase for the responsible stakeholders (e.g., solution architects, developers, installation developers, etc.), thereby enforcing SOA best practices, enhancing development productivity, and ensuring the quality of the final SOA deliverables.

  • Patent number: 8298002
Abstract: A pair manager for use in securing a twin-axial cable to a printed circuit board is described. The pair manager comprises a generally block-shaped portion containing a pair of channels. The channels extend from the front face to the rear face of the block-shaped portion. An integral flange and a pair of integral fingers extend perpendicularly from the front face of the block-shaped portion. The flange extends generally from the center of the front face and the fingers extend from opposite edges of the front face. The fingers and flange function as a partial shield cavity around each pair of conductors. This design helps to maintain better impedance matching when connecting twin-axial cables to a printed circuit board.

  • Publication number: 20120249188
Abstract: An exemplary differential output buffer includes a mixing stage and an output stage. The mixing stage includes a mixing circuit that mixes a differential data signal and an inverted delayed differential data signal to generate a mixed differential data signal. The output stage includes a first and a second output stage differential pair of transistors. Sources of the transistors in each of the output stage differential pairs are commonly coupled. Gates of the transistors in the first and second output stage differential pairs are supplied with the differential data signal and the mixed differential data signal, respectively. Drains of corresponding ones of the transistors in the first and second output stage differential pairs are commonly connected to form output nodes to output an emphasized differential data signal. The mixing stage includes a mixing ratio setting circuit that sets the mixing ratio to one of 1:0, 1:1, and 0:1.

  • Patent number: 8233254
Abstract: A coordinated arc fault protection scheme in a hierarchical power distribution system is disclosed. The methods according to embodiments of the present invention may be considered an “event and time graded” analysis. In event and time based analysis, the number of confirmed arc signature may be monitored with respect to time in the main feeder line as well as the branched feeders. The confirmed arc signature in the branched feeder, as well as in the main feeder, may be captured and time stamped. A trip command may be issued first in the intended branched feeder if the branched feeder experiences a minimum number of events within a given time. During the same time period, the main feeder also monitors similar arcing events. If the tripping of the branched feeder occurs and the main feeder still detects arcing events, the main feeder may be tripped after a certain period of time or a certain number of confirmed arc signature.

  • Publication number: 20120123994
Abstract: Methods, computer readable media, and apparatuses for analyzing data quality are presented. Transaction information may be received from a database, and the transaction information may describe various aspects of a plurality of transactions handled by an organization. Subsequently, a forecast may be calculated based on the transaction information, and the forecast may predict the future value of a metric. An upper control limit and a lower control limit for the metric may be determined based on the transaction information. Thereafter, the latest actual value of the metric may be computed. A normalized quality score for the metric then may be calculated based on the latest actual value of the metric, the forecast, the upper control limit, and the lower control limit. Optionally, a chart may be generated to evaluate data quality for a plurality of metrics, and metrics that exceed a control limit may be added to an issue log.
