  • Publication number: 20200104258
Abstract: A method handles cache misses using a Scope Resolution Tag Buffer (SRTB). A cache controller assigns each data block in L2 cache with an n-bit value, where the n-bit value describes a quantity of occurrences in which the data block has been accessed, and where the cache controller increments the n-bit value in one or more data blocks in the first level memory cache each time the one or more data blocks are accessed. The cache controller evicts a particular data block from the L2 cache, and stores a particular data block address where the particular data block is now stored in a Scope Resolution Tag Buffer (SRTB). The information in the SRTB is used to locate which cache or memory contains the particular data block in the event of a subsequent cache miss in the L2 cache.

  • Publication number: 20200098554
Abstract: Systems and methods of sample preparation using dual ion beam trenching are described. In an example, an inside of a semiconductor package is non-destructively imaged to determine a region of interest (ROI). A mask is positioned over the semiconductor package, and a mask window is aligned with the ROI. A first ion beam and a second ion beam are swept, simultaneously or sequentially, along an edge of the mask window to trench the semiconductor package and to expose the ROI for analysis.

  • Publication number: 20200089550
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for implementing a broadcast read response protocol are disclosed. A computing system includes a plurality of processing engines coupled to a memory subsystem. A first processing engine executes a read and broadcast response command, wherein the read and broadcast response command targets first data at a first address in the memory subsystem. One or more other processing engines execute a wait command to wait to receive the first data requested by the first processing engine. After receiving the first data from the memory subsystem, the plurality of processing engines process the first data as part of completing a first operation. In one implementation, the first operation is implementing a given layer of a machine learning model. In one implementation, the given layer is a convolutional layer of a neural network.

  • Publication number: 20200026659
Abstract: Systems for virtual memory computing systems. A set of hardware or software operational elements of a computing system performs virtualized memory paging. The operational elements serve to identify a random access memory device and at least one random access persistent memory device (RAPM) in a computing system. The random access persistent memory device is configured as a swap device that is apportioned as having at least some address space for swap. At least some of the swap address space is assigned to one or more virtualized entities in the computing system. When a page swap event is detected by the computing system, one or more of the operational elements execute one or more paging operations based on characteristics of the page swap event. The paging operations perform swap-in or swap-out of at least one page between the random access memory device and the random access persistent memory device.

Abstract: A hyper-converged computing system may include multiple computing nodes and a power management system. Each computing node may have a processor operating at a power state. Each computing node may receive a power budget from the power management system, determine an instant power consumption in the node and determine whether the instant power consumption is approaching the power budget. If the instant power consumption is approaching the power budget, the computing node may adjust the power consumption of the node. The power management system may determine an initial power budget rule for each computing node and transmit the initial power budget rule to each respective computing node. The power management system may also obtain various provisioning and status from the multiple computing nodes and use the provisioning and status to update the power budget rules for each respective computing node.
