Abstract: Included are embodiments for managing business award workflow. Some embodiments include receiving information related to a policy, receiving information related to a project, where the project includes a business award to a supplier, and comparing the policy with the information to determine whether the business award adheres to the policy. Similarly, some embodiments include, in response to determining that the business award adheres to the policy, sending at least a portion of the information to a predetermined approver, in response to determining that the business award does not adhere to the policy, preventing the business award to occur and identify a reason that the business award does not meet the policy.

  • Patent number: 9257030
Abstract: A mounting system for an electronic device is described. This mounting system includes a base that can be rigidly mounted on or underneath a wall. Moreover, the base can be remateably coupled to the electronic device. The remateable coupling may involve pins that are inserted into corresponding holes and rotated into a lock position. Alternatively, the remateable coupling may involve magnets that mechanically couple to each other so long as the electronic device and the base are within a predefined distance. The electronic device may receive power via the remateable coupling or via inductive charging. In addition, the electronic device may monitor a spatial parameter, such as: a location of the electronic device, a velocity of the electronic device and/or an acceleration of the electronic device. If this spatial parameter changes without the electronic device first receiving a security code, the electronic device provides an alert.

  • Publication number: 20150372963
Abstract: Systems and methods of the present disclosure are directed to categorizing messages. A first server can receive, from a second server maintaining a plurality of social media messages, a message. The first server can categorize the message under a first category or a second category. The first server can process the message and determine a frequency of each of the words included in the processed message. The first server determines, using a probabilistic engine executing on the first server, a relevancy score of the modified message indicating a level of relevance between the message and the first category based on the determined frequency of each of the words. The first server, responsive to determining that the relevancy score satisfies a threshold, can categorize the message under the first category.

  • Publication number: 20150268205
Abstract: An environmental monitoring device that includes a switching mechanism is described. During operation of the environmental monitoring device, the switching mechanism (such as a switch) selectively electrically couples a first electrical-connection node and a second electrical-connection node. For example, using the switching mechanism, an electronic device having a power source may be selectively electrically coupled to a second electronic device having a rechargeable battery. The selective electrical coupling may be based on one or more measurements of an environmental condition in an external environment that includes the environmental monitoring device by a sensor mechanism in the environmental monitoring device. This environmental condition may be associated with charging of the rechargeable battery. In addition, a control mechanism in the environmental monitoring device selects a charging mode of the rechargeable battery based on the one or more measurements of the environmental condition.

  • Publication number: 20150211694
Abstract: A modular solar lamp is provided. The lamp has three detachable modules: a solar panel module, a battery/light module, and a diffuser module. The battery/light module has a battery connected to a light. Electrical connectors are located on a surface of the body and are electrically connected with the battery. The solar module km a solar panel exposed on its top surface for converting solar energy into electrical energy. Electrical connectors are located on a surface of the module and are electrically connected to the solar panel The electrical connection is established between the solar panel and the battery module when the two modules are fully secured to each other thus establishing an electrical connection between the solar panel and the battery through the connectors, Once the battery is charged, the solar panel module may be detached and used to charge the battery of another lamp.

  • Patent number: 9070272
Abstract: An environmental monitoring device that includes a sensor mechanism is described. During operation of the environmental monitoring device, heat generated by a processor in the environmental monitoring device may result in a convective fluid flow over the sensor mechanism that facilitates measurements of sensor data associated with an environmental condition in an external environment that includes the environmental monitoring device. Alternatively, a fluid driver (such as a fan) associated with the processor may produce the fluid flow over the sensor mechanism. Note that the fluid flow may include an airflow and/or a liquid flow. Moreover, the environmental monitoring device may include baffles that direct the fluid flow over a selected sensor in a set of sensors in the sensor mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20150022340
Abstract: An environmental monitoring device that includes a sensor mechanism is described. During operation of the environmental monitoring device, the sensor mechanism provides sensor data based on measurements of environmental conditions in an external environment that includes the environmental monitoring device. Moreover, a control mechanism assesses if the environmental conditions indicate at least one of a set of threats. If yes, the control mechanism provides a corresponding alert. Furthermore, the environmental monitoring device includes a power source with a primary power source and a secondary power source. The secondary power source has at least a 10-year life and may power at least a subset of the functionality of the environmental monitoring device in the event the primary power source fails. For example, the sensor mechanism may include a smoke detector that is powered by the secondary power source in the event the primary power source fails.

  • Publication number: 20150021465
Abstract: An electronic device that includes a sensor mechanism is described. During operation of the electronic device, the sensor mechanism provides sensor data based on measurements of an environmental condition in an external environment that includes the electronic device. Based on the sensor data, a control mechanism selects an illumination pattern from a set of illumination patterns, which are associated with illumination of the external environment. For example, at least two of the illumination patterns have: different spatial patterns in the external environment, different wavelengths of light and/or different light intensities. Moreover, an illumination mechanism illuminates at least a portion of the external environment based on the selected illumination pattern.

Abstract: A long line fishing apparatus comprises a reel, a support member, guide means and hook retaining means. The reel includes a core connected between a first flange and second flange, for winding or unwinding a fishing line thereon said core between the first and second flanges. The reel is attached to the support member and the guide means is attached to the support member. Hook retaining means is formed as at least one slot in the first flange so that at least one hook attached to the fishing line can be retained in at least one slot. Movement of the position of the reel away from an end of the fishing line causes the reel to rotate in a horizontal plane to cause the fishing line to be deployed through the guide means or to be able to be rewound back on the reel through the guide means without tangling.
