    Abstract: A user equipment (UE) communicating with a first base station via a first radio bearer and a second bases station via a second radio bearer is disclosed. Uplink data transmissions using the radio bearers may be controlled by a threshold. During a positioning session to locate the UE, the UE may modify the threshold to cause the UE to use both the first radio bearer and the second radio bearer. The UE may return the threshold to an original value after the positioning session.

The location server, for example, may configure positioning assistance data and scheduling of uplink sounding reference signals (SRS) to exclude SCells that are included in a dormancy list for the UE. The location server, alternatively, may provide to a serving base station supporting a primary serving cell (PCell) for the UE an indication of the SCells to be used for positioning. The SCells may be removed from the dormancy list during the positioning session or may be brought out of dormancy for all or selected monitoring occasions during the positioning session.

During a positioning session, the UE receives assistance data and determines a target base station for handover based on the list of candidate target base stations and the assistance data. The UE, for example, may select a candidate target base station for handover during the positioning session to minimize the number of measurements gaps that are required for positioning measurements, or to increase bandwidth or minimize self-interference. Where timing advance measurements are requested, the UE may select a candidate target base station based on sub-carrier spacing to improve measurement resolution.
