  • Publication number: 20160070850
Abstract: The invention describes an explicit solvent all-atom molecular dynamics methodology (SILCS: Site Identification by Ligand Competitive Saturation) that uses no small aliphatic and aromatic molecules plus water molecules to map the affinity pattern of a large molecule for hydrophobic groups, aromatic groups, hydrogen bond donors, and hydrogen bond acceptors. By simultaneously incorporating ligands representative of all these functionalities, the method is an in silico free energy-based competition assay that generates three-dimensional probability maps of fragment binding (FragMaps) indicating favorable fragment:large molecule interactions. The FragMaps may be used to qualitatively inform the design of small-molecule ligands or as scoring grids for high-throughput in silico docking that incorporates both an atomic-level description of solvation and the large molecule's flexibility.

  • Patent number: 9280788
Abstract: Systems and methods for information retrieval are provided that permit users and/or processing entities to access and define synthetic data, synthetic objects, and/or synthetic groupings of data in one or more collections of information. In one embodiment, data access on an information retrieval system can occur through an interpretation layer which interprets any synthetic data against data physically stored in the collection. Synthetic data can define virtual data objects, virtual data elements, virtual data attributes, virtual data groupings, and/or data entities that can be interpreted against data that may be stored physically in the collection of information. The system and methods for information retrieval can return results from the one or more collections of information based not only on the data stored, but also on the virtual data generated from interpretation of the stored data.

  • Patent number: 9271253
Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for managing a mass registration scenario in a two-way radio system. A site controller in a trunked radio system detects a mass registration condition in which registration requests by subscriber units are likely to collide on an inbound control channel. During the mass registration condition, the site controller initiates a restriction period by instructing subscriber units that are members of particular talkgroups to temporarily cease registration requests. Those talkgroup members are permitted to resume their registration requests when a predetermined delay time has passed since the members were instructed to cease registration, or when a particular silence time has passed without registration activity over the control channel.

  • Publication number: 20160016965
Abstract: An opioid narcotics used for the treatment of moderate-to-severe pain that primarily exert their analgesic effects through ? receptors. Although, traditional ? agonists can cause undesired side effects, including tolerance, addition of ? antagonists can attenuate said side effects. The present invention includes 4a,9-dihydroxy-7a-(hydroxymethyl)-3-methyl-2,3,4,4a,5,6-hexahydro-1H-4,12-methanobenzofuro[3,2-e]isoquinolin-7(7aH)-one (UMB 425) a 5,14-bridged morphinan-based orvinol precursor, along with analogs of morphine, dihydromorphine, hydromorphone, codeine, dihydrocodeine, hydrocodone and ethylmorphine. Although UMB 425 lacks ?-specific motifs, conformationally sampled pharmacophore models for ? and ? receptors predict it to have efficacy similar to morphine at ? receptors and similar to naltrexone at ? receptors, due to the compound sampling conformations in which the hydroxyl moiety interacts with the receptors similar to orvinols.

  • Publication number: 20160009412
Abstract: A technique is directed to launching an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The technique involves attaching a UAV launcher to a hand-held weapon, and installing a UAV onto the UAV launcher while the UAV launcher is attached to the hand-held weapon. The technique further involves activating the hand-held weapon to launch the UAV into flight from the UAV launcher. Since a user already may be carrying the hand-held weapon for firing ammunition, the user simply needs to further carry the UAV launcher and the UAV which, in some situations, can be packaged into an easy-to-carry container such as a backpack, a carrying case, and so on.
