  • Patent number: 9391843
Abstract: The disclosure describes techniques to pre-compute the effect of modifying components in a data center switch prior to actually modifying the components. A data center analyzer is configured to discover the topology of the switch and present an editable version of the topology to a data center administrator. The data center analyzer receives proposed modifications to the current topology, including removed, replaced or updated components, and applies a non-distributed copy of the traffic distribution algorithm to the modified topology to compute an expected traffic distribution and traffic metrics. The administrator may then determine whether to modify the components based on the expected traffic distribution and associated traffic metrics. When the administrator allows modification of the components, the data center analyzer may compute and install alternative routing paths for components in the data center switch to minimize data loss due to the modified components.

  • Patent number: 9384135
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a system and method of cache management for a data storage system. According to various embodiments, the cache management system includes a hinting driver and a priority controller. The hinting driver generates pointers based upon data packets intercepted from data transfer requests being processed by a host controller of the data storage system. The priority controller determines whether the data packets are associated with at least a first (high) priority level or a second (normal or low) priority level based upon the pointers generated by the hinting driver. High priority data packets are stored in cache memory regardless of whether they satisfy a threshold heat quotient (i.e. a selected level of data transfer activity).

  • Publication number: 20160188279
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for implementing a mode-switch protocol and mechanism for hybrid wireless display system with screencasting and native graphics throwing. Under a Mircast implementation, A Wi-Fi Direct (WFD) link is established between WFD source and sink devices, with the WFD source device configured to operate as a Miracast source that streams Miracast content to a Miracast sink that is configured to operate on the WFD sink device using a Miracast mode. The WFD source and sink devices are respectively configured as a native graphics thrower and catcher and support operation in a native graphics throwing mode, wherein the WFD source devices throw at least one of native graphics commands and native graphics content to the WFD sink device. In response to detection that Miracast content has been selected to be played on the WFD source device, the operating mode is switched to the Miracast mode. The mode may also be automatically or selectively switched back to the native graphics throwing mode.

  • Publication number: 20160187181
Abstract: A weight management mat for passively and automatically monitoring weight for one or more individuals in a household. The weight management mat generally includes a housing having an upper mat and a lower mat between which is sealed a pair of perpendicular sensor arrays. Each sensor array includes fiber optic cables laid out in a grid pattern. One or more microbend inducers act to induce detectable microbends in the fiber optic cables when an individual steps on the upper mat. The change in light intensity caused by these microbends is recorded by photodetectors and processed by a microcontroller. The present invention may be utilized to identify each unique individual stepping on the present invention by the pressure map of their feet. Thus, recorded weight measurements may be tracked to aid in weight management.

  • Patent number: 9373097
Abstract: A system and method for tracking passengers during travel events and generating alerts if rules for those travel events are violated includes readers, which are installed in vehicles and obtain location data from one or more positioning systems. As passengers enter or exit the vehicles, the passengers swipe access cards in the readers. The readers then tag passenger identity information with the obtained location data. This information is then transmitted to a monitoring system, which generates rules for each of the travel event of the passengers. During the travel events, the received location data and time information is analyzed and to determine if any of the vehicles are violating the generated rules. The monitoring system generates alerts if any of the generated rules are violated.
