  • Patent number: 9298974
Abstract: Various embodiments enable a primary user to be identified and tracked using stereo association and multiple tracking algorithms. For example, a face detection algorithm can be run on each image captured by a respective camera independently. Stereo association can be performed to match faces between cameras. If the faces are matched and a primary user is determined, a face pair is created and used as the first data point in memory for initializing object tracking. Further, features of a user's face can be extracted and the change in position of these features between images can determine what tracking method will be used for that particular frame.

  • Patent number: 9292651
Abstract: A method of physical design of an IC using an EDA tool includes identifying elements of the IC design that have excess positive timing slack. The excess timing slack elements are placed in a separate partition and then parameters of the characteristics of the excess timing slack elements are modified to reduce their excess timing slack, such as reducing the voltage supplied to the separate partition, thereby lowering power consumption of the IC design.

  • Patent number: 9295105
Abstract: Wireless stations (and their associated operation) making up a static, multi-hop wireless network are simplified because topological modeling and routing/scheduling decisions are shifted from the stations to a controller external to the network. The controller may determine routing paths and schedules for each of the wireless stations in a network based on the topology of a given network along with other network characteristics. Thereafter, the so-determined paths and schedules are sent to the associated wireless stations. By simplifying the operation of a wireless station, the amount of energy required to be used by each station may be reduced thereby maximizing the lifetime of the network.

  • Patent number: 9285500
Abstract: Modeling hydrocarbon flow, from layered shale formations. At least some of the illustrative embodiments are methods including: modeling movement of hydrocarbons through kerogen-related porosity, the movement through a first model volume; estimating a first permeability of a kerogen-rich layer of a layered shale formation based on the modeling; and modeling hydrocarbon production from the layered shale formation. The modeling hydrocarbon production may include: utilizing the first permeability for the kerogen-rich layer of the layered shale formation; and utilizing a second permeability for a kerogen-poor layer of the layered shale formation, the second permeability different than the first permeability. In various cases the modeling of hydrocarbon production is with respect to a second model volume greater than the first model volume.

  • Publication number: 20160055984
Abstract: Polypyrrole/carbon (PPy/C) composite doped with organic anion p-toluenesulfonate (pTS) is utilized as an electrode in supercapacitor for energy storage application. The surface initiated in-situ chemical oxidative polymerization yields a composite material PPy/C in the presence of varying concentrations of pTS. The novelty of the present invention lies in the doping of PPy/C composite with organic anion pTS and consequent enhancement of its electrochemical activity and stability. The conjugation length and electrical conductivity of pTS doped PPy/C composites increase with the increase in dopant concentration. The pTS doped PPy/C composite synthesized using equimolar concentration (0.1 M) of pTS to pyrrole shows the maximum specific capacitance of ˜395 F/g in 0.5 M Na2SO4 aqueous solution with significant stability ˜95% capacitance retention after ˜500 cycles.

  • Publication number: 20160036967
Abstract: A first electronic device (“first device”) identifies a second electronic device (“second device”) that is within hearing range of the first device. The first device determines whether a ringtone of the first device conflicts with a ringtone of the second device (e.g., the first and second devices have the same incoming text message ringtone). If the first device determines that there is a conflict (e.g., the active ringtones of the two devices have the same file name or the audio files of the ringtones have the same digital signature or identifier) then the first device appends an individualized alert to its ringtone, either in advance of playing the ringtone or in real time as the ringtone is being played.
