  • Publication number: 20160253329
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and systems for locating, filtering, ranking and then providing a selection of potential “meet-up” venue(s) and time(s) recommendations to a group of users of a device having an interface and a display (e.g., a smart phone or a tablet) based on the geographic area delineated by a user and the user's contacts who are invited to the “meet-up”. The methods and systems calculate, filter and rank the most convenient “meet-up” venue and time based on the current location of group members, taking into account a plurality of factors, such as time, distance, schedule, group member's interests, availability, and the like. The methods and systems then provide a selection of the top ranking “meet-up” venues to the group members. Thereafter, the group members vote for the most suitable location among the ranked “meet-up” venues.

  • Publication number: 20160255026
Abstract: An electronic messaging system and method with reduced traceability by separation of display of media component of message content and header information. An electronic message having an identifier of a recipient and a message content including a media component is received at a server from a sending user device at which a display for associating the media component with the electronic message is provided without displaying the identifier of a recipient with the media component such that a single screen capture of the identifier of a recipient and the media component is prevented. The media component includes an image. The electronic message including an identifier of a sending user is transmitted to a recipient user device at which a display presenting the media component is provided without displaying the identifier of a sending user such that a single screen capture of both the identifier of a sending user and the media component is prevented.

  • Publication number: 20160252346
Abstract: Embodiments of a shape measurement system and related methods are disclosed. In some embodiments, the system places a two-dimensional initial pattern, which can be implemented as a standalone molding or can be attached to a light source or printed on an outfit, onto a surface of a three-dimensional object. The system captures a transformed version of the initial pattern in two dimensions that is distorted due to the varying depth of the surface. The system then analyzes the transformed pattern and derives three-dimensional information regarding the target object. The analysis, which can incorporate a calibration process, can rely on the projection nature of the light source, the isomorphism/non-isomorphism of the initial pattern, and other factors.

  • Publication number: 20160255115
Abstract: The efficacy of security products and practices is quantified, based on monitored activities and conditions on multiple computers over time. A set of metrics is defined, specifying what criteria concerning computer security systems are to be quantified. Telemetry data concerning the defined metrics are collected from multiple computers, such as the customer base of a security product vendor. Security configuration information such as the deployments and settings of security systems on computing devices is monitored. This monitored information tracks what security products are deployed on which machines, and how these products are configured and used. Collected telemetry is correlated with monitored configuration information, enabling determination of what security product deployments and settings are in place when specific security incidents, operations and other types of actions occur.

In one embodiment, a system for designing a correlation filter in a multi-processor system includes a multi-core processor coupled to a first memory and one or more co-processors coupled to one or more respective second memories. The multi-core processor partitions each of a plurality of frames associated with media content into a plurality of pixel-columns, and systematically stores said pixel-columns width-wise in a plurality of temporary matrices by a plurality of threads of the multi-core processor. The plurality of temporary matrices are transferred by the multi-core processor to one or more respective second memories in a plurality of streams simultaneously in an asynchronous mode. A plurality of filter harmonics of the correlation filter are computed by performing compute operations involving at least the plurality of temporary matrices, to obtain the correlation filter.

  • Patent number: 9432387
Abstract: This disclosure generally relates to the generation of a packet signature for packets determined to correspond to a network attack, such as a denial of service (“DoS”) attack. Specifically, a set of data packets captured during normal system operations can be analyzed to determine a set of baseline attributes. Additional packets captured during an attack can be compared to the baseline attributes, to determine, for individual packets, a probability that the packet forms a part of the attack. A packet signature can then be generated to identify attributes that are characteristic of the attack. That signature can then be used to filter out packets and mitigate the attack.

  • Patent number: 9432768
Abstract: A wearable computer is configured to use beamforming techniques to isolate a user's speech from extraneous audio signals occurring within a physical environment. A microphone array of the wearable computer may generate audio signal data from an utterance from a user's mouth. A motion sensor(s) of the wearable computer may generate motion data from movement of the wearable computer. This motion data may be used to determine a direction vector pointing from the wearable computer to the user's mouth, and a beampattern may be defined that has a beampattern direction in substantial alignment with the determined direction vector to focus the microphone array on the user's mouth for speech isolation.

  • Patent number: 9431077
Abstract: Efficient techniques using a multi-port shared non-volatile memory are described that reduce latency in memory accesses from dedicated function specific processors, such as a modem control processor. The modem processor preempts a host processor that is accessing data from a multi-port shared non-volatile memory flash device allowing the modem processor to quickly access data in the flash device. The preemption process uses a doorbell interrupt initiated by a processor that seeks access and interrupts the processor being preempted. After preemption, the host processor may resume or restart the data access. Access control by the processors utilizes a hardware semaphore atomic control mechanism. Power control of the shared non-volatile memory modules includes at least one inactivity timer to indicate when a supply voltage to the shared non-volatile memory modules can be safely reduced or turned off. Power may be restarted by any of the processors sharing the memory, allowing fast access to the data.

  • Patent number: 9430782
Abstract: Advertisements in a social networking system may be targeted to searching users in relation with a real-time search engine operated by a social networking system. Ads are targeted to users based in part on social information included in a structured search query and/or search results on a page. In a typeahead search, a user of the social networking system may receive prefix search results of objects in the search box. The prefix search results are ranked by relevance to the user, and advertisers may bid for particular objects to increase their ranking in the results list. An option may be provided to a viewer of search query results to buy an ad that would be seen by other users who performed the same search query, received a targeted search result, or based on targeting criteria as determined by the viewer bidding on the ad.
