  • Patent number: 8621328
Abstract: Storing data in memory using wear-focusing techniques for improved endurance. A method for storing the data includes receiving write data to be written into a memory that is logically divided into a plurality of regions. The plurality of regions includes a first region and a second region that are implemented by the same memory technology. The memory is subject to degradation as a result of write operations. The write data is classified as dynamic data or static data. The write data is encoded using a first type of encoding in response to the write data being classified as dynamic. The write data encoded using the first type of encoding is stored in the first region of the memory. The write data is encoded using a second type of encoding and stored in the second region of the memory in response to classifying the write data as static data.

  • Publication number: 20130343133
Abstract: A system for detecting soft errors in a memory device includes a latch, a master flip-flop and a slave flip-flop. The latch receives input data (control and/or address signals) at the beginning of a memory operation in response to a rising edge of a first clock signal. The output of the latch is provided to the master flip-flop. The master flip-flop continuously receives and stores the latch output during the memory operation based on a second clock signal. The slave flip-flop receives and stores the output of the master flip-flop at the end of the memory operation based on the second clock signal. A comparator compares the input data with the output of the slave flip-flop to detect soft errors that occur during the memory operation.

  • Publication number: 20130343275
Abstract: A first wireless station provides a configuration indication value that specifies a maximum number of medium access control layer service data units (MSDUs) that may be included in each medium access control layer protocol data unit (MPDU), or in each aggregated MPDU (A-MPDU), received by the first wireless station. A second wireless station receives the configuration indication value from the first wireless station, and in response, transmits only MSDUs (or A-MSDUs) having no more than the specified maximum number of MSDUs to the first wireless station. The configuration indication value can be included in various elements transmitted between the first and second wireless stations, including for example, a high throughput (HT) capabilities element, a very high throughput (VHT) capabilities information field, a VHT operation element or an add block acknowledge (ADDBA) response frame.

  • Publication number: 20130340638
Abstract: Methods are disclosed for applying a dampening fluid to a reimageable surface of an imaging member in a variable data lithography system without a form roller. Dampening fluid in liquid form is converted to vapor phase, and directed to the reimageable surface. The dampening fluid reverts to the liquid phase directly on the reimageable surface. Controlling the temperatures of elements of the delivery subsystem prevents unwanted condensation of the dampening fluid vapor on those elements. Generation and delivery of the vapor can be controlled in a feedback arrangement as a function of measured layer thickness formed on the reimageable surface to obtain a desired dampening fluid layer thickness formed on the reimageable surface.

  • Patent number: 8613282
Abstract: The invention provides intrafallopian devices and non-surgical methods for their placement to prevent conception. The efficacy of the device is enhanced by forming the structure at least in part from copper or copper alloy. The device is anchored within the fallopian tube by a lumen-traversing region of the resilient structure which has helical outer surface, together with a portion of the resilient structure which is biased to form a bent secondary shape, the secondary shape having a larger cross-section than the fallopian tube. The resilient structure is restrained in a straight configuration and transcervically inserted within the fallopian tube, where it is released. Optionally, permanent sterilization is effected by passing a current through there resilisent structure to the tubal walls.

  • Publication number: 20130336059
Abstract: A system for grading blocks may be used to improve memory usage. Blocks of memory, such as on a flash card, may be graded on a sliding scale that may identify a level of “goodness” or a level of “badness” for each block rather than a binary good or bad identification. This grading system may utilize at least three tiers of grades which may improve efficiency by better utilizing each block based on the individual grades for each block. The block leveling grading system may be used for optimizing the competing needs of minimizing yield loss while minimizing testing defect escapes.

  • Publication number: 20130339570
Abstract: Techniques are presented that include determining, for data to be written to a nonvolatile memory, a location in the nonvolatile memory to which the data should be written based at least on one or more wear metrics corresponding to the location. The one or more wear metrics are based on measurements of the location. The measurements estimate physical wear of the location. The techniques further include writing the data to the determined location in the nonvolatile memory. The techniques may be performed by methods, apparatus (e.g., a memory controller), and computer program products.

  • Publication number: 20130336255
Abstract: A method and system to decode PDCCH in LTE advanced systems is disclosed. The method adds the adjacent carrier information as LTE-Advanced bits in the PDCCH. The method proposes two approaches such as circular linked list and scrambled approach in adding the adjacent carrier information in the PDCCH. These approaches provide information of all the scheduled PDCCH for an UE. A circular linked list informs the starts position of adjacent PDCCH where UE has its data. Scrambling approach has all the scheduled PDCCH information in current carrier with different scrambling code which is known by the UE. Therefore, by decoding only current carrier UE knows PDCCHs that are scheduled for its data. The method reduces the complexity to a great extent with increase in little overhead.

  • Publication number: 20130339021
Abstract: Techniques, an apparatus and an article of manufacture identifying one or more utterances that are likely to carry the intent of a speaker, from a conversation between two or more parties. A method includes obtaining an input of a set of utterances in chronological order from a conversation between two or more parties, computing an intent confidence value of each utterance by summing intent confidence scores from each of the constituent words of the utterance, wherein intent confidence scores capture each word's influence on the subsequent utterances in the conversation based on (i) the uniqueness of the word in the conversation and (ii) the number of times the word subsequently occurs in the conversation, and generating a ranked order of the utterances from highest to lowest intent confidence value, wherein the highest intent value corresponds to the utterance which is most likely to carry intent of the speaker.

  • Patent number: 8609451
Abstract: Fabrication of a single crystal silicon solar cell with an insitu epitaxially deposited very highly doped p-type silicon back surface field obviates the need for the conventional aluminum screen printing step, thus enabling a thinner silicon solar cell because of no aluminum induced bow in the cell. Furthermore, fabrication of a single crystal silicon solar cell with insitu epitaxial p-n junction formation and very highly doped n-type silicon front surface field completely avoids the conventional dopant diffusion step and one screen printing step, thus enabling a cheaper manufacturing process.

  • Patent number: 8608687
Abstract: The embodiments of the present invention relate to an endoscopic system and accessories. In particular, the various embodiments relate to endoscopic systems in which an accessory comprises a multi-lumen device that is capable of quantitatively delivering at least a catheter, a balloon, and a needle to a site. The accessory is configured to allow for individual, independent control of its components. For example, in some embodiments, the needle and guidewire can be independently controlled. In addition, the needle may be retracted back into an inner lumen of the catheter body. Accordingly, during use, the accessory of the embodiments allows the user to maintain access to an incision site without having to exchange or remove accessories for various parts of the procedure.

  • Publication number: 20130329653
Abstract: An M2M Server may be integrated into a 3GPP network. A network node, for example a Serving General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) Support Node (SGSN) may include a dedicated interface with a M2M server. The interface may be called a GM2M interface. The interface may be a logical interface internal to the network node. The node may receive subscriber data and control data, wherein the control data facilitates a network control procedure and the subscriber data identifies a device involved in the network control procedure. The node may determine that the device involved in the network control procedure is a machine to machine device based on the subscriber data. The node may also send the control data to a machine to machine server using a message sent via a dedicated interface with the machine to machine server.
