  • Patent number: 8601025
Abstract: Described are techniques for reporting requested information to a client. A bidirectional graph is stored in a cache. The bidirectional graph includes a first set of nodes and a second set of edges between pairs of nodes of the first set, each node of the first set representing an object in an object model of a server. Each edge of the second set between a pair of nodes of the first set represents an association between two objects corresponding to the pair of nodes. A request is received from the client. A response to the request is determined by traversing a portion of the bidirectional graph to extract first information, and filtering the first information in accordance with a usage context customized for the client.

  • Patent number: 8600949
Abstract: A request is received to remove duplicate data. A log data container associated with a storage volume in a storage server is accessed. The log data container includes a plurality of entries. Each entry is identified by an extent identifier in a data structures stored in a volume associated with the storage server. For each entry in the log data container, a determination is made if the entry matches another entry in the log data container. If the entry matches another entry in the log data container, a determination is made of a donor extent and a recipient extent. If an external reference count associated with the recipient extent equals a first predetermined value, block sharing is performed for the donor extent and the recipient extent. A determination is made if the reference count of the donor extent equals a second predetermined value. If the reference count of the donor extent equals the second predetermined value, the donor extent is freed.

  • Patent number: 8601086
Abstract: A TCP/IP processor and data processing engines for use in the TCP/IP processor is disclosed. The TCP/IP processor can transport data payloads of Internet Protocol (IP) data packets using an architecture that provides capabilities to transport and process Internet Protocol (IP) packets from Layer 2 through transport protocol layer and may also provide packet inspection through Layer 7. The engines may perform pass-through packet classification, policy processing and/or security processing enabling packet streaming through the architecture at nearly the full line rate. An application running on an initiator or target can in certain instantiations register a region of memory, which is made available to its peer(s) for access directly without substantial host intervention through RDMA data transfer.

  • Publication number: 20130318092
Abstract: To answer search queries on a social network rich with user-generated content, it is desirable to give a higher ranking to content that is closer to the individual issuing the query. Queries occur at nodes in the network, documents are also created by nodes in the same network, and a goal is to find the document that matches the query and is closest in network distance to the node issuing the query. Embodiments of the present invention provide solutions to this problem. After a some offline pre-processing, the system according to an embodiment of the present invention allows for social index operations (e.g., social search queries and insertion and deletion of words into and from a document at any node).

  • Publication number: 20130318423
Abstract: An embodiment is a method for encoding data with an error correction code. The method includes receiving a first number of data symbols by a memory controller, receiving a second number of meta-data sub-symbols, generating a third number of check symbols using an ECC, where the third number includes a difference between a number of symbols in an ECC codeword and the first number and generating a mismatch vector from the check and meta-data sub-symbols, where a number of sub-symbols of the mismatch vector includes the second number. The method also includes generating an adjustment syndrome symbol by multiplying the mismatch vector by a matrix, generating the third number of adjusted check symbols responsive to the adjustment syndrome symbol, and generating a final codeword by concatenating the adjusted check symbols and the data symbols, where the final codeword includes the number of symbols in the ECC codeword.

  • Patent number: 8595450
Abstract: A device stores a plurality of applications and a list of associations for those applications. The applications are preferably stored within a secondary memory of the device, and once launched each application is loaded into RAM. Each application is preferably associated to one or more of the other applications. Preferably, no applications are launched when the device is powered on. A user selects an application, which is then launched by the device, thereby loading the application from the secondary memory to RAM. Whenever an application is determined to be associated with a currently active state application, and that associated application has yet to be loaded from secondary memory to RAM, the associated application is pre-launched such that the associated application is loaded into RAM, but is set to an inactive state.

  • Patent number: 8595153
Abstract: A multiple model data exploration system and method for running multiple machine-learning models simultaneously to understand and explore data. Embodiments of the system and method allow a user to gain a greater understanding of the data and to gain new insights into their data. Embodiments of the system and method also allow a user to interactively explore the problem and to navigate different views of data. Many different classifier training and evaluation experiments are run simultaneously and results are obtained. The results are aggregated and visualized across each of the experiments to determine and understand how each example is classified for each different classifier. These results then are summarized in a variety of ways to allow users to obtain a greater understanding of the data both in terms of the individual examples themselves and features associated with the data.
