  • Publication number: 20170152261
Abstract: The invention provides a series of bioactive small molecules that target expanded r(CGG) repeats, termed r(CGG)exp, that causes Fragile X-associated Tremor Ataxia Syndrome (FXTAS). The compound was identified by using information on the chemotypes and RNA motifs that interact. Specifically. 9-hydroxy-5,11-dimethyl-2-(2-(piperidin-1-yl)ethyl)-6H-pyrido[4,3-b]carbazol-2-ium, binds the 5?CGG/3?GGC motifs in r(CGG)exp and disrupts a toxic r(CGG)exp-protein complex. Specifically, dimeric compounds incorporating two 9-hydroxyellipticine analog structures can even more potently bind the 5?CGG/3?GGC motifs in r(CGG)exp and disrupts a toxic r(CGG)exp-protein complex. Structure-activity relationships (SAR) studies determined that the alkylated pyridyl and phenolic side chains are important chemotypes that drive molecular recognition of r(CGG) repeats, such as r(CGG)exp.

  • Publication number: 20160096574
Abstract: A tiltable motor tricycle as in the present invention comprises a front part and a rear part. The front part comprises a front frame, a front fork, a front wheel attached to the front fork, a steering bar, and a seat. The rear part comprises a rear frame, one pair of laterally spaced rear wheels. The front frame is connected to the rear frame rotatably around an axis line which points at the ground contact area of the front wheel and therefore the front part can tilt right or left around the axis line without affecting the position of the rear part. The rear frame has two footrests at two sides of the tricycle. The tricycle further comprises a motor and a power source. When in operation, the rider of the tricycle seats on the seat with two feet stepping on the footrests of the rear frame to keep balance and can tilt the front part of the tricycle around the axis line to maintain balance in response to road condition, speed, or turning while the rear part with two rear wheels remain stable.

  • Patent number: 7963153
Abstract: A method, a system and a computer readable medium for dynamic mode AFM amplitude versus distance curve acquisition. In an embodiment, a constant force feedback mechanism is enabled prior to the first time an AFM probe tip contacts a sample. The feedback mechanism setpoint is iteratively reduced while at least phase and amplitude of the probe tip are recorded as a function of the relative z-height of a cantilever coupled to the probe tip. The feedback mechanism setpoint may be repeatedly swept between upper and lower bounds to average out drift between the cantilever and sample. Upon detecting a threshold, an absolute tip-to-sample distance is determined and correlated to the relative z-heights. The amplitude and phase data recorded prior to tip-sample contact is then determined as a function of absolute tip-to-sample distance.
