  • Patent number: 9961536
Abstract: A communication network and software for its implementation that controls a mobile device based on historical user activity is provided. The mobile device communicates with a server and includes a function that is dependent on the user activity. The server senses the user activity over time and produces a histogram of that activity. The rate at which the server attempts to sense the user activity depends on the histogram. An application might change the function depending on the result of detecting the user activity and the rate at which it does so.

  • Patent number: 9897324
Abstract: An electromagnetic interference (EMI) shield for gas cooktops is disclosed herein. The EMI shield protects electromagnetic fields output by a high voltage spark ignition system from interfering with sensitive low voltage controls for the cooktop. Accordingly, the low voltage controls and similar elements are mounted on one side of the EMI shield and the high voltage spark ignition system, burners, and similar elements are mounted on another side of the EMI shield. In order to connect elements on each side of the EMI shield as may be necessary (e.g., electrical wires and gas tubing), the EMI shield can have a plurality of small openings. The EMI shield may also provide a mount for controls and/or a user interface for displaying information and controlling the cooktop.

  • Patent number: 9897327
Abstract: A cooking apparatus comprises a housing forming an oven cavity within the housing. A door is attached to the housing for selectively opening and closing the oven cavity. The door comprises an outer surface and an inner surface. The inner surface includes a vent in fluid communication with an air channel within the door. A movable blocking element for selectively opens and closes the vent. The movable blocking element is biased against the vent when the door is open, thereby closing the vent when the door is open. The movable blocking element is configured to translate linearly within the door, toward the vent and away from the outer surface of the door to close the vent, and toward the outer surface of the door and away from the vent to open the vent.

  • Patent number: 9846807
Abstract: A method and system for detecting eye corners using neural network classifiers is described. After an eye image is received, the eye image may be processed by at least two neural network classifiers including an inner eye corner neural network classifier and an outer eye corner neural network classifier. The neural network classifiers provide periocular information including a distance or coordinates of an eye corner location from a center of an iris of the eye, and an outcome of whether the eye corner is an inner eye corner or an outer eye corner. Output from the various neural network classifiers are combined to generate a decision on the location of eye corners in an eye image.

  • Publication number: 20170325173
Abstract: A wireless telecommunication system includes base stations for communicating with terminal devices. One or more base stations support a power boost operating mode in which a base station's available transmission power is concentrated in a subset of its available transmission resources to provide enhanced transmission powers as compared to transmission powers on these transmission resources when the base station is not operating in the power boost mode. A base station establishes an extent to which one or more base stations in the wireless telecommunications system supporting the power boost operating mode conveys an indication of this to a terminal device. The terminal device receives the indication and uses the corresponding information to control its acquisition of a base station of the wireless telecommunication system, for example by taking account of which base stations support power boosting and/or when power boosting is supported during a cell attach procedure.

  • Publication number: 20170307227
Abstract: Provided is a door for a cooking appliance, such as an oven range, with multiple spaced apart glass panels. An interlocking mechanism promotes a proper installation of the glass panels, and interferes with the installation of the glass panels or with operation of the appliance if at least one of the panels is not properly installed. A switch with a plunger can be installed in the door, which allows the appliance to operate only when a failsafe electrical circuit is closed corresponding to a selected position of the plunger when the door is closed. The plunger is prevented from retaining that selected position if at least one of the glass panels is improperly installed or if a top cap is not properly seated or installed above the glass panels.

  • Patent number: 9717353
Abstract: In accordance with one embodiment, I presently contemplate a cruciform support base (20), semi-circular dial (10), and concentric semi-circular brace (16) that work together to support the corner of a record and/or planar article. The dial (10) and brace (16) are fastened to the support base (20) and machined in such a way that they form a simple, economical, and adaptable mechanical unit (24). Once paired with a minimum number of units, and mounted to a wall, they cooperate to display any number of records, planar articles, and/or combination thereof in an attractive, tight, grid-like configuration. Furthermore, the design of this system also allows for any one record and/or planar article to be easily retrieved or stored with the swipe of a finger.

  • Patent number: 9710707
Abstract: A method and system for determining a roll angle in an eye image is described. A center of an iris, an inner eye corner, and an outer eye corner in an eye image may be determined. The eye image may be normalized and transformed to a polar eye image using the center of the iris as a reference for the transformation. A shift associated with the inner eye corner and a shift associated with the outer eye corner may be determined. The shifts associated with the inner eye corner and the outer eye corner may be indicators of an orientation of the eye image or roll angle, and may be used for subsequent eye image processing and matching.
