Abstract: A recording medium includes an area having a plurality of contents recorded therein, and a management area having a search file for searching the contents recorded therein. The search file includes at least one entry classifying the contents by scenes and including information having an attribute defined for each scene. In a method for searching contents recorded within the recording medium, character information for each character map (C-Map) recorded within a search file in accordance with a contents search command is first provided. Then, item information for each at least one item map (IS-Map) corresponding to a selected character among the provided character information is provided. Thereafter, an entry corresponding to a selected item among the provided item information is provided. And, finally, the corresponding entry by using entry location information recorded within the selected entry among the provided entries is searched.

Abstract: A recording medium includes a data area and a data management area. The data area includes first and second titles which have different data formats with respect to each other. The data management area includes a plurality of data management files required for reproducing the first and second titles. The data management files include a first object file which contains first management information associated with reproduction of the first title, and a second object file which contains second management information associated with reproduction of the second title. For example, the first title is a movie title and the second title is a Java title, and the first object file is a movie object and the second object file is one or more Java object files.

Abstract: A stator of a motor having various shapes and capable of minimizing the manufacturing costs. At least teeth are manufactured by the iron powder metallurgy method. In order to obtain the overhang effect, the height of a tip of each tooth is lower than the height of a rotor and the height of a yoke is higher than the height of a tip of each tooth so as to minimize the core loss of the yoke. Since, in order to minimize the end coil, the height of a neck of each tooth is gradually higher as running from the sides to the central portion in the circumferential direction, costs for manufacturing a motor can be minimized and sufficient efficiency can be obtained.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for reproducing data is disclosed. The method and apparatus configures a composite file structure to simultaneously reproduce data recorded in a recording medium and other data recorded in a local storage, and reproduces data using the configured composite file structure. A variety of methods for configuring the composite file structure are described in preferred embodiments, such that a method for effectively configuring the composite file structure regardless of a current condition state is given. Therefore, data recorded in the recording medium and other data stored in the local storage can be effectively used.

Abstract: An apparatus for reproducing data recorded on a recording medium includes a pick-up unit, a local storage, and a decoder. The pick-up unit reads main data recorded on the recording medium, and the local storage stores sub data associated with the main data. The sub data may include interactive graphic streams or text subtitle streams. The decoder decodes the main data and the sub data using a PlayList which includes a main path and a sub path. The main path contains a PlayItem for play-back of the main data, and the sub path contains at least one SubPlayItem associated with the PlayItem for play-back of the sub data in association with the play-back of the main data. The PlayList file further includes sub path type information which indicates whether the SubPlayItem included in the sub path is synchronized with the PlayItem.

Abstract: A single-phase induction motor includes a main winding, an auxiliary winding, a run capacitor, and a subsidiary start device. The auxiliary winding is configured such that the number of turns of the auxiliary winding, through which a current flows, varies according to the operating mode of the motor. When the motor starts, the number of turns of the auxiliary winding, through which a current flows, is reduced, thereby increasing the start efficiency of the motor. When the motor runs in normal mode, the number of turns of the auxiliary winding, through which a current flows, is increased, thereby increasing the operational efficiency of the motor.

Abstract: A second-generation rotating biofilter employing microorganisms in a microbiological film (biofilm) “mineralizes” contaminants, such as VOCs and odoriferous contaminants. Contaminated fluid, such as air from manufacturing processes, is directed radially outward from a perforated pipe through porous foam attached to the pipe. The pipe serves as the axis upon which layers of foam suitable for supporting formation of biofilms are placed. In one embodiment, an octagonal-shaped drum incorporates eight baskets. In each basket, foam is layered outwardly from the pipe in trapezoidal-shaped layers each of approximately 3.8 cm thickness, each layer separated by air gaps of approximately 1.3 cm to prevent clogging. Seven layers in each of eight baskets comprise the octagonal drum. When the drum is sprayed on one side, water soaks the media and it is heavier on that side, thus facilitating rotation of the drum. Further, the biofilms are supplied with moisture and supplemental nutrients as needed.

Abstract: A waste stream is treated in a pre-filter having media, preferably sand, connected below a zero-valent metal column reactor incorporating a metal with reducing potential, preferably elemental iron (Fe0); the combination preferably configured as a single unit. The waste stream is pumped through the pre-filter to trap solids and deoxygenate it, then enters the reactor and is subjected to a reducing process. Most of the Fe0 is transformed to the ferrous ion (Fe+2), mixed with the reduced product, and fed to a continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR) in which Fenton oxidation occurs. The output is then sent to a sedimentation tank and pH-neutralized using a strong base such as sodium hydroxide (NaOH). The aqueous portion is drawn off and the sludge pumped from the sedimentation tank. The system is monitored and controlled to optimize required additives, while monitoring of pressure drop across the pre-filter and column reactor establishes replacement requirements.

Abstract: The present invention provides a novel process for highly selective preparation of 2,6-dialkyltetralin, a key precursor for 2,6-dimethylnaphthalene (2,6-DMN), which does not require an extra step for purifying various isomers obtained from the conventional processes for 2,6-DMN. The present invention is advantageous to improve the synthetic yield, to simplify the operation and thus to reduce the production cost, since different starting materials and different pathways are exploited and thus the additional steps are not necessary.

Abstract: A radiation patch having a shape of linearly-tapered rectangle for a planar inverted F antenna is disclosed. The planar inverted F antenna having a radiation patch includes: a ground unit for grounding a radiation patch; a short unit for shorting the radiation patch; a feeding unit for supplying an electric power to the radiation patch; and a radiation patch for radiating electric power from the feeding unit, wherein the radiation patch having a shape of linearly tapered rectangle and a length and width of tapered sides of radiation patch is determined according to a resonate frequency. As mentioned above, the present invention can be easier to be designed and provide wider bandwidth by providing a linearly tapered rectangle shape of radiation patch in a planar inverted F antenna.

Abstract: A transcutaneous recharging system for providing power to an implantable medical device comprises a primary side circuit for transmitting power in the form of magnetic flux; and a secondary side circuit integral to the implantable medical device for receiving the power transmitted from the primary side circuit and for providing the received power to recharge a battery in the implantable medical device, wherein the primary and secondary side circuits are not physically coupled. A variety of attachment configurations are disclosed for attaching and shielding the secondary circuit directly onto the housing of the implantable medical device, inclusive of flexible printed circuit coils and wire coils recessed into helical notches.

Abstract: A metal-coated amorphous powder having high toughness and plasticity is made by uniformly coating nano size metal on a powder surface through spray drying. The amorphous powder is added to a metallic salt solution and mixed. After mixing, the solution is spray dried. As the dried powder is heated, the salt is eliminated successively or at the same time to be reduced. The metal is a salt of any one of Cu, Nickel, Iron and Cobalt.

Abstract: Provided are the high tensile nonmagnetic stainless steel wire for an low loss overhead electric conductor, the low loss overhead electric conductor using the high tensile nonmagnetic stainless steel wire as its core, and a manufacturing method of them respectively. The high tensile nonmagnetic stainless steel wire reduces a core loss and eddy current loss and minimizes effective electric resistance of the conductor by using the nonmagnetic stainless steel wire, that is a non-magnetic material, rather than a high carbon steel wire, that is a strong magnetic material. In addition, an overall power transmission loss is minimized by strengthening the tensile strength of and reducing a sectional area of the steel wire, making an aluminium-welded layer thicker, and increasing the sectional area of an aluminium conductor.

Abstract: A recording medium, method, and apparatus for reproducing text subtitle streams are disclosed. A buffer initially preloads a text subtitle stream including a dialog style segment defining a group of region styles and first and second dialog presentation segments. A text subtitle decoder initially presents a first region of dialog text included in the first dialog presentation segment in a graphics plane and reads a continuous presentation flag included in the second dialog presentation segment, which includes a second region of dialog text. The text subtitle decoder presents the second region of dialog text by preserving the presentation of the first region of dialog text in the graphics plane if the continuous segment indicates that continuous presentation is required between the first and second regions of the dialog text.
