Abstract: According to a disclosed example, a first video stream is captured via a first camera associated with a first communication device engaged in a multi-party video conference. The first video stream includes a plurality of two-dimensional image frames. A subset of pixels corresponding to a first human subject is identified within each image frame of the first video stream. A second video stream is captured via a second camera associated with a second communication device engaged in the multi-party video conference. A composite video stream formed by at least a portion of the second video stream and the subset of pixels of the first video stream is rendered, and the composite video stream is output for display at one or more of the first and/or second communication devices. • Patent number: 10476968
Abstract: A communication augmentation agent (CAA) is described herein which presents a shared user experience to at least a first user and a second user. In one manner of operation, the CAA operates by intelligently determining. (1) when to offer a shared user experience to the users; (b) the particular form of the shared user experience; and (c) the manner of delivering the shared user experience to the users. In determining the form of the shared experience, the CAA can optionally customize the shared resource so that it includes common-interest information and, with respect to each user, user-specific information. The CAA also includes a mechanism by which a registered user may invite a non-registered user to take part in the shared user experience.

  • Publication number: 20190341153
Abstract: A plurality of attributes are extracted from a plurality of electronic health records, where each electronic health record is associated with a patient in a plurality of patients. Additionally, a training data set and a scoring data set are generated based on the plurality of attributes, and a patient similarity model is trained based on the training data set. A precision cohort is identified, where the precision cohort includes patients in the plurality of patients from the scoring data set that are similar to a first patient based on an electronic health record of the first patient and the similarity model. At least one result statistic for each of a plurality of treatments given to patients in the precision cohort is determined, and a first treatment of the plurality of treatments is selected for the first patient based at least in part on the determined result statistics.

  • Publication number: 20190295695
Abstract: Mechanisms are provided for presentation of pertinent information for a medical treatment plan. The mechanisms receive a medical condition for an interaction with a patient, and a medical mental model that emulates thinking of a medical professional with regard to reviewing a patient electronic medical record (EMR) to identify pertinent information for a medical treatment plan to treat the medical condition based on categorizations of elements in the patient EMR. The mechanisms analyze the EMR for the patient to identify a portion of the EMR relevant to the medical treatment plan using the categorizations, and analyze the identified portion of the EMR to extract relevant patient information that is directed to the medical treatment plan for the medical condition based on the categorizations. The mechanisms generate and output a cognitive summary correlating the extracted relevant patient information and the medical treatment plan in association with the medical condition.

  • Publication number: 20190251782
Abstract: Various systems and methods for streaming an impromptu community are described herein. In one example, a system for streaming impromptu communities includes a data storage device, a community analyzer, and a publisher. In an example, the data storage device can store a number of incoming data sets, wherein each data set identifies a time and location for the origin of the data, a media instance, and an identification of an origin device or origin user. In an example, the community analyzer can operate from the data storage device to use a processor in order to calculate an IC boundary and generate an impromptu community (IC) indicator based on the proximity and temporality of the number of incoming data sets. In an example, the processor can modify the number of data sets to include the IC indicator.

  • Publication number: 20190206572
Abstract: A mechanism is provided for presenting contextually relevant patient data in relation to other patients in a graphical user interface. Using a medical condition associated with a patient and a current treatment being followed by the patient, a cohort of similar patients with the same medical condition are identified. For each of the patients in the cohort, a set of next treatments are identified for those patients that stopped the current treatment and followed a next treatment. For each next treatment followed by a patent in the cohort of similar patients, a determination is made as to whether the next treatment controlled or failed to control the same medical condition for the patient. Then a presentation is provided indicating the set of next treatments, a number of patients following each next treatment, whether each treatment controlled or failed to control the same medical condition, and a statistical significance.

  • Publication number: 20190206529
Abstract: A mechanism is provided in a data processing system comprising a processor and a memory, the memory comprising instructions that are executed by the processor to specifically configure the processor to implement a cognitive analysis engine for evaluating completeness of electronic medical record data sources. The cognitive analysis engine executing in the data processing system analyzes a plurality of patient electronic medical records (EMRs) from one or more EMR sources to determine whether each EMR in the plurality of patient EMRs satisfies a plurality of tests. Each test determines whether the EMR includes a set of attributes or portions of EMR data. The cognitive analysis engine generates a set of patient EMRs for each test in the plurality of tests based on results of the analysis. Each set of patient EMRs includes EMRs in the plurality of patient EMRs that satisfy the corresponding test. The cognitive analysis engine generates a diagram data structure, representing sets and their relationships.

  • Publication number: 20190206517
Abstract: A mechanism is provided in a data processing system comprising a processor and a memory, the memory comprising instructions that are executed by the processor to specifically configure the processor to implement a question prediction and answering engine for predicting questions a medical professional is attempting to answer. An interaction monitoring component monitors interaction of a medical professional with a patient electronic medical record (EMR). A question selection component selects a set of questions the medical professional is attempting to obtain an answer to from the patient EMR. The question prediction and answering engine analyzes the patient EMR to generate a set of answers to the set of questions from at least a portion of the patient EMR and outputs a report correlating the set of questions and the set of answers to the medical professional.

  • Publication number: 20190134178
Abstract: The present invention shows that intranasal administration of E1/E3-defective adenovirus particles may confer rapid and broad protection against viral and bacterial pathogens in a variety of disease settings. Protective responses lasted for many weeks in a single-dose regimen in animal models. When a pathogen-derived antigen gene was inserted into the E1/E3-defective adenovirus genome, the antigen-induced protective immunity against the specific pathogen was elicited before the adenovirus-mediated protective response declined away, thus conferring rapid, prolonged, and seamless protection against pathogens. In addition to E1/E3-defective adenovirus, other bioengineered non-replicating vectors encoding pathogen-derived antigens may also be developed into a new generation of rapid and prolonged immunologic-therapeutic (RAPIT).
