  • Publication number: 20170067328
Abstract: A downhole tool and a method for fracturing a well, of which the method includes running downhole tool into a wellbore, the downhole tool including a ball seat including a dissolvable material and a protective layer that substantially prevents the dissolvable material from dissolving, and deploying an obstructing member into the wellbore. The obstructing member is caught by the ball seat. The method also includes performing one or more fracturing operations while the obstructing member engages the ball seat. Performing the one or more fracturing operations comprises introducing an abrading fluid to the ball seat, and the abrading fluid erodes at least a portion of the protective layer from the ball seat. Abstract: Downhole tools and methods, of which the downhole tool includes an expandable sleeve defining a bore therethrough, and a first body positioned at least partially within the bore of the expandable sleeve. The first body is slidable relative to the expandable sleeve, and sliding the first body along the bore of the expandable sleeve causes the expandable sleeve to radially expand so as to actuate the downhole tool from a run-in configuration to a set configuration. The downhole tool also includes an isolation device received at least partially in the expandable sleeve in the set configuration. A pressure on the isolation device is at least partially transmitted to the expandable sleeve as a radially-outward force.

  • Patent number: 8728823
Abstract: A method is described for detecting lung cancer comprising detecting an elevated level of a CTAP III-related biomarker in a biological sample from a subject at risk for developing lung cancer. Further, a method is described for predicting risk of developing lung cancer in a subject comprising detecting an elevated level of a CTAP III-related biomarker in a biological sample from a subject. Additionally, a method of monitoring the success of lung cancer treatment is described comprising detecting levels of a CTAP III-related biomarker in a biological sample from a subject undergoing treatment for lung cancer for comparison with a previous level obtained from the subject. Multivariate analysis may be incorporated into these methods, evaluating such clinical, or demographic risk factors as age, sex, smoking history, smoking status, smoking family history, education level, COPD, socio-economic status, body mass index and lung function. • Patent number: 8281961
Abstract: A device (10) and method for aseptically or non-aseptically accessing a fluid in a container (210) using an existing container opening (211). The device (10) includes a sanitary fitting (12) for attaching the device to the container over the existing container opening, and a sample coupling (14) associated with the sanitary fitting. The sanitary fitting (12) includes a first port (32), and the sample coupling (14) includes at least two second ports (52). The sample coupling (14) is rotatable relative to the sanitary fitting (12) in one direction to cause the first port (32) to successively align with each of the second ports (52), and thereby allows access to the fluid through the aligned first and second ports (32,52).

  • Publication number: 20100252699
Abstract: A mounting system made to hold secure a custom insert device and be attached securely to a water sport board or vessel by an adhesive layer. The purpose of the insert device holding mount is to provide a small, lightweight, durable, reliable and convenient electronic device holder that can be unobtrusively attached to a water sport board or vessel and endure rough water environments and conditions. Our patent application includes our primary insert device as a water resistant time piece device, yet we plan to design a variety of insert devices with different functions for the benefit of the users. The device holding mount will be made of a soft, yet rigid water and weather resistant material. The material we will use is EVA foam, which is a type of polyethylene foam material. This EVA material is commonly used as a durable padding material in a wide variety of products.

  • Patent number: 7661345
Abstract: A device (10) for clamping and separating a length of tubing. The device (10) comprises first and second subassemblies (12,14) for, in their closed positions, clamping the tubing at first and second locations, respectively, and at least weakening the tubing for subsequent separation. The subassemblies (12,14) face each other and are connected by a breakable connection. Each subassembly (12,14) includes clamping elements (26,34) for clamping the tubing, a perforating or cutting element (28) for perforating or otherwise weakening or cutting the tubing, and locking elements (24,32) for locking the subassembly (12,14) in the closed position. The perforating element (28) may be at least one hard plastic or metal spike. Once each subassembly (12,14) is locked in the closed position, the breakable connection is broken to result in respective lengths of clamped tubing.
