  • Patent number: 6317263
Abstract: Rear projection screens include a film layer having a plurality of lenses for diverging light horizontally and vertically. The horizontal viewing angle created by the lenses may be different from the vertical viewing angle. The light may be directed by the lenses in a particular direction, so that the direction of the maximum intensity light does not lie parallel to an axis normal to the screen surface. The lens film may be combined with an isotropic light disperser, such as a bulk diffuser.

  • Patent number: 6317515
Abstract: An encoding/decoding method and apparatus encodes an input data stream for compression purposes, and decodes the compressed data stream for use. The encoding process identifies trends in the data stream, and stores information about the trends in an encoded block. The trends may include runs, in which sequential, corresponding gropus in the data stream have constant values. The trends may also include ramps, where sequential, corresponging components in the data stream increase or decrease by a linear value. An encoded block may also be provided to transfer raw data. The encoded blocks do not store type information describing the type of the component associated with the block. Rather, the decoder infers the type of the components associated with the encoded block according to an original order of components in the data stream, the order of the encoded block in the sequence of encoded blocks and a number of the corresponding components encoded by each of the preceding encoded blocks.

  • Patent number: 6312963
Abstract: A method provides estimations of physical interconnect process parameter values in a process for manufacturing integrated circuits. The method includes fabricating test structures each providing a value of a measurable quantity corresponding to a value within a range of values of the physical interconnect process parameters. In some embodiments, the measured value is used to derive the values of the physical interconnect process parameters, either by a numerical method using a field solver, or by a closed-form solution. The values of physical interconnect process parameters involving physical dimensions are also obtained by measuring photomicrographs obtained using a scanning electron microscope from cross sections of test structures. In some embodiments, a family of test structures corresponding to a range of conductor widths and a range of spacings between conductors are measured.

  • Patent number: 6312291
Abstract: A high frequency connector comprises a connector body and metal conductive wires. An embedding groove is installed on the longitudinal wall of the connector body. An embedding block is installed with respect to the embedded groove; and the embedded block has a plurality of through holes. The metal conductive wire includes a first conductive wire and a second conductive wire. The fixing end of the second conductive wire is inserted to the through hole of the embedding block, and a bent portion in the middle section of the second conductive wire resists against the lower surface of the embedded groove. As a consequence, a high frequency connector for transferring high frequency signals is constructed.

  • Patent number: 6312386
Abstract: A medical ultrasound diagnostic imaging system includes a delay system that applies a composite delay profile to signals to or from respective transducer elements. One composite delay profile includes a first, substantially point-focus delay profile for a first set of the transducer elements and a second, substantially point-focus delay profile for a second set of the transducer elements. The first and second delay profiles cause ultrasonic energy from the respective first and second sets of the transducer elements to constructively add at first and second respective spaced focal zones in either transmit or receive. Another composite delay profile includes first and second portions that substantially correspond to respective parts of a point-focus delay profile, and third and fourth portions that are intermediate the point-focus delay profile and respective tangents.

  • Patent number: 6313262
Abstract: The present invention is related to a method for preparing polyether polyol or copolymerized polyether polyol, which uses an acid catalyst consisting of heteropoly acidic salts and oxides and/or binders. It allows tetrahydrofuran and/or cyclic ether compounds to carry out the ring-opening polymerization or ring-opening copolymerization with/without telogen, and obtains polyether polyol or copolymerized polyether polyol. An acid catalyst is used in the present invention because of its low solubility in organic solvent, so its process is simpler and the catalyst is easy to recycle for repeated use. As well, its preparation process is highly advantageous.

  • Patent number: 6309356
Abstract: A pulse echo beamforming system generates high spatial bandwidth ultrasound images using only a few transmit/receive events per frame. Each transmit/receive event consists of firing an unfocused or weakly focused wave and receiving and storing the echo on every receive channel. Each set of stored echoes is delayed and apodized to form component beams for each desired image point in the region insonified by that particular wave. The final images are synthesized by adding two or more of the component beams for each image point.
