  • Patent number: 5394712
Abstract: A motorcycle lock is provided which includes a lock body consisting of a metal casing and a lock unit fitted into the metal casing. The lock unit includes two locking plates at the top and a lock cylinder at the bottom, and a shackle having two annular grooves around two opposite ends thereof and respectively inserted into a respective hole on the metal casing and locked by the locking plates. Turning the lock cylinder in one direction causes the locking plates to move in the reverse directions for permitting the shackle to be removed from the lock body. Turning the lock cylinder in the reverse direction causes the stop blocks of the left and right locking plates to engage the annular groove on opposing ends of the shackle for holding down the shackle.

  • Patent number: 5385612
Abstract: A cleaning system for removing undesirable material from an outer surface of a critical or sensitive element relatively moving in a fluid comprises a tubular duct for the flow of the fluid medium and having an entrance end an exit end. The entrance end is oriented generally in the opposite direction of the relatively moving fluid to receive the fluid medium. The tubular duct narrows down in cross-sectional area to define a Venturi section at the exit end thereby substantially increasing the exit fluid flow velocity. The exit end is placed adjacent to and generally directed toward the outer surface causing the high-velocity exit fluid stream to remove the undesirable materials through the momentum thereof.

  • Patent number: 5386087
Abstract: A circuit pattern layer is formed over the surface of a laminated board such that it includes one array of solder pads. The circuit pattern layer has its surface covered with a solder mask layer. The solder mask layer has a U-shaped recess at the area of the solder pad. The solder pad is exposed at the area of the U-shaped recess. Upon the soldering of the connector's connection terminal to the solder pad at the area of the U-shaped recess, a molten solder is kept in the U-shaped recess and prevented from flowing onto the adjacent connection terminal. It is thus possible to prevent a solder bridge from being created across those connection terminals.

  • Patent number: 5386414
Abstract: A method and apparatus that uses the number of in-service trunks in each trunk group connected to a communication switch as the number of indices that are contained in its respective trunk group distribution table. Each of the indices of each trunk group distribution table corresponds to a single trunk ID of a respective in-service trunk of the trunk group. The method provides for a uniform distribution of call assignments among the indices. Thus, with the uniform distribution of indices, the assignment of trunks to calls will also be uniformly distributed. With trunk traffic distributed among all the trunks of a trunk group, the overall efficiency of the trunk group will be very high.

  • Patent number: 5378182
Abstract: A method of forming a self-aligned gated field emitter with substantial manufacturing advantages is described. There is provided a substrate having at its surface a conductive layer. A first dielectric layer is deposited over the substrate. A conducting layer is deposited over the dielectric layer. Lithography and etching are used to form an opening through the conducting layer and the dielectric layer down to the surface of the substrate wherein there is formed an overhang of the conducting layer over the etched dielectric layer in the opening. Material is vertically deposited through the opening and over the conducting layer until the field emitter is formed and the opening is closed by build up of the depositing material over the conducting layer. At least a portion of the build up of the depositing material over the conducting layer is oxidized down to the desired opening size to form an oxide layer of the material.

  • Patent number: 5376586
Abstract: A method of curing an organic dielectric layer, such as polyimide, used in a multichip module is disclosed. The method comprises heating the uncured polyimide layer to a temperature above its glass transition temperature, and irradiating the layer with a uniform flux of electrons, as in an e-beam apparatus. The process reduces deterioration at the interface between the dielectric films and the metal layers which when high temperature thermal curing is utilized, and reduces the stress of the resulting film. Multiple dielectric layers can be applied in this manner.
