  • Publication number: 20220123211
Abstract: A photoconductive switch that uses materials that support negative differential mobility, whose operation leverages the pulse compression of a charge could to generate the “on” time of the pulse in combination with the speed of light to generate the “off” time of the pulse, is described. In one example, a method of operating a photoconductive switch, which includes two electrodes and a light absorbing material positioned therebetween, includes selecting a value for one or more parameters comprising a voltage for generation of an electric field, a spot size of a laser pulse, a temporal pulse width of the laser pulse, or an intensity of the laser pulse, wherein the selected value(s) for the one or more parameters enable the switch to operate in a region where the light absorbing material exhibits negative differential mobility, and illuminating the light absorbing material with the laser pulse to generate a charge cloud within the light absorbing material.

  • Publication number: 20220057159
Abstract: Provided is a firearm cartridge chamber with a relief feature that traps a portion of a cartridge case within the cartridge chamber when fired. The relief feature causes the cartridge case to deform within the chamber, wherein it optionally separates into a forward section and a rearward section. The deformed case remains trapped after firing, preventing extraction of the fired case and the chambering or firing of any subsequent cartridges, thereby causing a firearm malfunction. The cartridge chamber can distinguish between higher and lower pressure cartridges by allowing for normal firing and function with blank training ammunition while also facilitating localized deformation of the cartridge case when firing standard ammunition that includes one or more projectiles. The inventive chamber prevents more than one higher pressure round from firing while allowing lower pressure or training rounds to fire without limitation, which aids in enhanced safety during training exercises.

  • Patent number: 11232629
Abstract: Described are systems and method directed to generation of a dimensionally accurate three-dimensional (“3D”) body model of a body, such as a human body, based on two-dimensional (“2D”) images of that body. A user may use a 2D camera, such as a digital camera typically included in many of today's portable devices (e.g., cell phones, tablets, laptops, etc.) and obtain a series of 2D body images of their body from different directions with respect to the camera. The 2D body images may then be used to generate a plurality of predicted body parameters corresponding to the body represented in the 2D body images. Those predicted body parameters may then be further processed to generate a dimensionally accurate 3D model of the body of the user.

  • Publication number: 20210319184
Abstract: A method for analyzing existing digital files to recognize sensitive data in the textual content. The method includes extracting features describing the environmental context in which a file was created and the file content itself and modeling and analyzing pairwise relations between text that exist within a given file; the text itself; and characteristics that exist about the text in relation to the entire file. The method takes the extracted features, including the data itself and its context, and analyzes this data with artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms such as decision trees and neural networks to predict whether a document includes sensitive data. Leveraging AI algorithms rather than discrete algorithms carries with it the advantage of being able to handle massive volumes of data, as well as the ever increasing varieties of data.
