  • Patent number: 10823098
Abstract: A low speed pre-ignition detection, mitigation, and driver notification system and method utilize a controller to analyze a knock signal from a knock sensor to detect LSPI knock of the engine and in response to detecting the LSPI knock, enrich a fuel/air ratio of the engine and limit a torque output of the engine to a level that is less than a maximum torque output of the engine, and when enriching the fuel/air ratio of the engine and limiting the torque output of the engine does not mitigate the LSPI knock, output at least one message for a driver of the vehicle instructing the driver to take remedial action to mitigate the LSPI knock.

  • Patent number: 10822907
Abstract: A wellhead assembly includes an outer wellhead member having a bore and an inner wellhead member located in the bore, defining an annular pocket between the outer and inner wellhead members. A sealing assembly is located within the annular pocket, the sealing assembly having an annular seal and an energizing ring. The energizing ring engages inner and outer legs of the annular seal to push the inner and outer legs into sealing engagement with the inner and outer wellhead members. A retainer nut is threadingly attached to the free end of the outer leg of the sealing assembly. Mating grooves are located on one of an inner diameter of the retainer nut and an outer diameter of the energizing ring and mating protrusions located on the other. The mating protrusions mate with the mating grooves to prevent relative axial movement between the energizing ring and the annular seal.

  • Patent number: 10810670
Abstract: Disclosed is a securities trading program for trading individual lots of a security which can be run at a security trader's computer station. The program generates a trading screen comprising a listing of multiple bids for the security, each bid having a price, as well as a listing of multiple priced offers for the security. The bid and offer listings are active, enabling the trader to hit any one of the displayed bids or take any one of the displayed offers, for example by selecting and clicking on a displayed bid or offer. In one embodiment, the bids and offers are arranged in side-by-side columns on the trader's screen, helping the trader to rapidly overview the market for a particular security, and compare different, possibly competitive, securities by paging through level-of-interest windows for each security.

  • Patent number: 10788396
Abstract: A calibration system and method for a spark ignition engine of a vehicle involve artificially weighting engine dynamometer data in high engine load regions and using it to generate training data for an artificial neutral network (ANN). A plurality of ANNs are trained using the training data and the plurality of ANNs are then filtered based on their maximum error to obtain a filtered set of trained ANNs. A statistical analysis is performed on each of the filtered set of trained ANNs including determining a set of statistical metrics for each of the filtered set of trained ANNs and then one of the filtered set of trained ANNs having a best combination of error at high engine loads and the set of statistical error metrics is then selected. Finally, an ANN calibration is generated using the selected one of the filtered set of trained ANNs.

  • Patent number: 10760479
Abstract: A control system and method for an engine including a turbocharger without a surge valve involve utilizing one or more pressure sensors configured to measure air pressure in an intake system of the engine, the intake system comprising a compressor of the turbocharger and a throttle valve downstream from the compressor, and a controller configured to control the engine to avoid surge at the compressor and eliminate a need for the surge valve by determining a desired position for the throttle valve based on a driver requested engine torque, determining a minimum mass flow through the compressor that avoids surge based on the measured air pressure in the intake system and a predetermined compressor map, and commanding the throttle valve to a target position to maintain at least the minimum compressor mass flow, wherein the target position is greater than the desired position, thereby avoiding surge at the compressor.

  • Publication number: 20200229910
Abstract: Wax-based compositions for making barrier layers used in oral treatment devices are thermally stable when formed into a flat sheet or three-dimensional article to a temperature of at least 45° C. and are plastically deformable at room temperature (25° C.). The wax-based compositions include a wax fraction homogeneously blended with a polymer fraction. The wax fraction includes at least one wax and the polymer fraction includes at least one polymer selected such that, when the at least one wax and at least one polymer are homogeneously blended together, they yield a wax-based composition having the desired properties of thermal stability and plastic deformability. Barrier layers and oral treatment devices made from such wax-based compositions are dimensionally stable to a temperature of at least 40° C. without external support and can be plastically deformed in a user's mouth to become at least partially customized to the size and shape of user's unique dentition.

  • Publication number: 20200221563
Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming torsional magnetic reconnection, and converting stored magnetic energy into charged particle kinetic energy and particle acceleration, is claimed. A torsional magnetic reconnection apparatus generally comprises (1) a vacuum environment housing (2) a plurality of conducting coils to form a magnetic field fan-spine topology and (3) a plasma generation device providing an azimuthal magnetic field perturbation such that current sheets are formed and magnetic reconnection processes can occur. Electric current energization of the plurality of conducting coils generates a potential magnetic fan-spine topology. A simultaneous capacitor bank discharge forms and axially drives a plasma sheath, featuring an azimuthal magnetic field, toward the fan-spine magnetic null that forces the diffusion of magnetic flux through the plasma. This magnetic to plasma kinetic energy conversion process accelerates charged particles far away from the reconnection region along open magnetic field lines.

  • Publication number: 20200177533
Abstract: A method of routing data from a source to one or more clients over a network, where the data conforms to a structured meta-language; in which the routing is performed by a server applying rules to the data itself, and not any address accompanying the data, to determine where to route that data to. The present invention is predicated on the counter-intuitive insight that data does not need to be concealed within a data envelope and given an address label in order to be routed effectively and efficiently. Instead, routing can be performed on the actual content of a message by applying simple routing rules to the data itself by intelligent ‘routing’ servers within the network which can unpack data from their message envelopes and intelligently filter/combine them with data unpacked from other messages to achieve a routing function.

  • Publication number: 20200158038
Abstract: Engine low pressure cooled exhaust gas recirculation (LPCEGR) control techniques comprise receiving a measured position of an accelerator pedal and, based on this measurement, detecting a transient tip-out event or a transient tip-in event. In response to detecting the transient tip-out event, an EGR depletion rate is temporarily increased by at least one of (i) downstream throttle valve control to maintain at least a minimum engine airflow or to regulate a rate of decrease of the airflow into the engine, (ii) cylinder bank fuel shutoff, and (iii) pre-scheduled EGR valve control based on the measured accelerator pedal position. In response to detecting the transient tip-in event, an EGR delivery rate is temporarily increased by at least one of (i) the pre-scheduled EGR valve control and (ii) controlling intake/exhaust valves of cylinders of the engine to enable a scavenging mode.

  • Patent number: 10649802
Abstract: Component based dynamic guest instantiation is disclosed. For example, a memory stores a content store, and a virtualization engine executes on one or more processors to receive a request to launch an application that is configured to execute in a guest. A file system of the guest is constructed based on metadata associated with the application. A plurality of components of the application, including a first component defined in the metadata, are loaded to the file system from the content store.
