  • Patent number: 10466037
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed toward a system that includes a first optical sensor, a second optical sensor, and a gear feature controller. The first optical sensor measures a plurality of first distances measured from a first reference point to a surface provided between a pair of adjacent teeth among a plurality of teeth circumferentially distributed about a first side of a gear. The second optical sensor measures a plurality of second distances measured from a second reference point to a surface along a second side of the gear opposite the first side. The gear feature controller configured to determine a stock removal amount of the gear based on the first distances and the second distances.

  • Patent number: 10456087
Abstract: The following relates generally to the medical monitoring arts, medical warning systems concerning a monitored patient, and so forth. In clinical settings, alarms are usually triggered when a single-parameter or a multi-parameter score exceeds certain thresholds. When a score needs to be determined, if certain parameters are not available, the common practice is to use the most recent measurements of the parameters for the score calculation. However, a patient's status may change from moment to moment. The parameters measured hours ago may not be a good indicator of the patient's current status. This uncertainty can put deteriorating patients at great risk. An embodiment uses statistical methods to estimate a range of scores and the probability of these scores if old measurements have to be used for score determination. Instead of giving a single number at a time, a confidence interval may be displayed to emphasize the fact that the score is determined partially based on old measurements.

  • Publication number: 20190287675
Abstract: The present disclosure pertains to obtaining information that facilitates determining healthcare quality measures by evaluating subject healthcare data in real-time. Information is obtained that facilitates determination of compliance with healthcare quality measures. This is accomplished by running queries on a clinical database comprising subject healthcare data. Natural language processing is utilized to extract subject healthcare data at various times from the clinical database based on individual queries, thus determining any changes in subject healthcare data over time. A rule-based component is used to implement healthcare quality measures and evaluate updated subject healthcare data based upon rules.

  • Patent number: 10405912
Abstract: An intravascular catheter for peri-vascular or peri-urethral tissue ablation includes multiple needles advanced through supported guide tubes which expand with open ends around a central axis to engage the interior surface of the wall of the renal artery or other vessel of a human body allowing the injection an ablative fluid for ablating tissue, such as nerve fibers in the outer layer or deep to the outer layer of the vessel, or in prostatic tissue. The system also controls the depth of penetration of the ablative fluid into and beyond the tissue of the vessel wall. The catheter includes structures which provide radial and lateral support to the guide tubes so that the guide tubes open uniformly and maintain their position against the interior surface of the vessel wall as the sharpened injection needles are advanced to penetrate into the vessel wall.

  • Patent number: 10392963
Abstract: A system for transmitting discrete data packets of sensor measured values of operating parameters. The system includes a transmitting device configured to transmit the measured values per a transmittal protocol. The system includes a receiving device that receives the measured values processes the received measured values in accordance with a receiving protocol. The transmittal protocol includes: determining a most recent measured value for the sensor; selecting previous measured values for the sensor; comparing the most recent measured value to the previous measured values to determine a difference therebetween; and conditionally transmitting the most recent measured value based on the difference. The receiving protocol includes: determining a most recent received measured value for each of the sensors; deriving an analytic time based the most recent received measured values; and deriving a time-aligned value for one of the operating parameters measured by the sensors at the analytic time.

  • Publication number: 20190236120
Abstract: At present, a vast number of technologies are designed specifically for users that are able to employ the use of sight. Additionally, many products designed to allow the visually impaired to use these technologies are expensive, and often not easy to use. In order to expand the benefits of technology to the visually impaired, we have invented an Electronic Braille Interface that can connect to any device with a USB port (laptops, cell phones, e-readers, etc.) and effectively translate ASCII characters from the device into physical Braille characters. The Braille text will be displayed on the Electronic Braille Interface though moveable pins that, in groups of six, are able to display different Braille characters in the same fashion as normal, stationary Braille text. The user will be able to feel the pins and interpret the Braille characters.

  • Publication number: 20190135520
Abstract: The disclosed principles provide for a welding technique welding the flanges of a rigid lid sealed onto a rigid tray, such that the two may be easily separated but still repeatedly reclosable such that the rigid package may be reused. For this unique and advantageous ultrasonic welding technique, the disclosed principles provide for the inclusion of a unique delamination layer between the similar rigid materials used for forming the flanges of both the lid and the tray. The disclosed principles provide for the delamination layer to be provide on one or both of the two rigid materials, but behind the seal interphase area so that the hermitic seal may still be created. This delamination layer operates such that it peels apart (i.e., delaminates) as the ultrasonically sealed rigid material of the lid flange and rigid material of the tray flange are pulled apart while opening the package initially.

  • Publication number: 20190135478
Abstract: Disclosed are rigid multi-compartment recloseable packages. A package may comprise a rigid tray comprising a product surface to hold food products. The tray may comprise a raised lip along a perimeter of the product surface to laterally secure the food products thereon. The tray may have a tray skirt horizontally extending outward from a top edge of the lip, and dividing features upwardly extending from the product surface to form distinct compartments on the product surface for receiving the food products therein. Furthermore, such an exemplary package also comprises a recloseable rigid lid having an upper surface substantially coextensive with the product surface, and at least one sidewall downwardly extending from the upper surface. The lid may also comprise a lid skirt horizontally extending outward from a bottom edge of the at least one sidewall, where the lid skirt is coextensive and complimentary in shape with the tray skirt.

  • Publication number: 20190139631
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to estimation and use of clinician assessment of patient acuity. In various embodiments, a plurality of patient feature vectors associated with a plurality of respective patients may be obtained (302, 304). Each patient feature vector may include one or more health indicator features indicative of observable health indicators of a patient, and one or more treatment features indicative of characteristics of treatment provided to the patient. A machine learning model (216) may be trained (306) based on the patient feature vectors to receive, as input, subsequent patient feature vectors, and to provide, as output, indications of levels of clinician acuity assessment. Later, a patient feature vector associated with a given patient may be provided (404) as input to the machine learning model. Based on output from the machine learning model, a level of clinician acuity assessment associated with the given patient may be estimated (406) and used (408-416) for various applications.
