  • Patent number: 5119873
Abstract: An arrangement for controlling a waste shot of a die casting machine. Data are entered and stored in a memory data defining waste shot mode and normal shot mode operations of the die casting machine. The machine is then operated in normal shot mode. By monitoring various parameters, it is determined whether the die casting machine is operating in accordance with the data defining normal shot mode operation. In the event that the die casting machine is not operating in accordance with the data defining normal shot mode operation, the machine is stopped. After stopping, the die casting machine is restarted and automatically operated in waste shot mode in accordance with data previously stored, and then automatically operated in normal shot mode in accordance with data previously stored.

  • Patent number: 5088343
Abstract: An accelerator pedal assembly for use in a motor vehicle includes an elongate pivotal lever which is pivotally supported at its generally middle portion by a pivot shaft. The lever has thus upper and lower portions which are pivotally mounted to the lower portion of the lever. The upper end of the lever has a circular recess to which an accelerator cable is connected. The lever is equipped at the upper portion with a damping mass (or weight) for suppressing the undesired resonant vibration of the lever. The damping mass is so positioned that a center of gravity "G" of the damping mass is placed on an imaginary straight line "L" which passes through both given points "P" and "Q", the point "P" being the center of the pivoted middle portion of the lever and the point "Q" being the center of the circular recess of the lever. Thus, when the pedal is depressed, an inertial force of the damping mass does not produce a torsional stress in the lever because of no moment produced around the line "L".

  • Patent number: 4942403
Abstract: A phased-array radar capable of electronically directing a directional beam of an antenna in any of N different directions, i.e., direction .theta..sub.1 to direction .theta..sub.N. Scanning of the directional beam is effected in any of a long-range mode for detecting and tracking a target cruising at a long range from the radar and a short-range mode detecting and tracking a target cruising at a short range. This reduces the data rate and thereby increases the target information updating frequency associated with a short-range target.

  • Patent number: 4673942
Abstract: A multibeam array antenna system (3) has a matrix configuration defined by first series power feedlines (21, 22) and second series power feedlines (4a to 4h) serially connected to radiation elements (5a to 5h) wherein directional couplers (31a to 31h, 32a to 32h) are provided at intersections of the matrix, respectively. This antenna system (3) comprises a plurality of first phase adjusting delay lines (7a to 7h) connected between output terminals (8a to 8h) and the radiation elements (5a to 5h) whereby the aperture phase distribution deviates symmetrically with respect to the central portion of the aperture as compared to the distribution at the time of the in-phase excitation, thus enabling to considerably suppress spurious lobes appearing due to the configuration of the matrix feed network and to set the crossover level between adjacent beams to be high.
